Soporo	Posted - 2007.01.23 22:38:00 - [1] My face is hideous. I saunter down to the ship bay, and small children run shrieking in horror. Grown men go pale and stumble away, averting their eyes while mumbling hastily crafted prayers. Women slay themselves outright in loathing, so vile and abominable is my visage. I am Achura. I started EVE with no clue and little advice. The only advice I got was "Charisma sucks, don't waste your time on it." Ok, then I began a search for the perfect race. Ahhh, Caldari... Wow, those Achura mofos get great stats. But, but sheesh... hours later while crafting my appearance it looks even worse than when I started Random comment from random joe alerts me to the fact that I can pay to have my face switched out with another picture of my RACE. My RACE is Caldari right? Ahh good, Achura it is then, I will "fix" it later and pay to get a new face, maybe one of those cats that totes that shootin iron. But WOE! I try to get a facelift and can't use another Caldari face UNLESS IT'S ACHURA!?! The RACE is Caldari YES?!? Yeah, but your Achura, n00b. You can get another Achura face, that's it. ARRRRRRGH! But I like my skills and stuff I have so far, it would be a huge timesink to lose it all now! WEEPS My guy has 100m isk burning a hole in his wallet, and he can't afford a damn facelift? I look like a damn necropheliac anemic monk, good thing my Pod covers me up most of the time.

Seriously, at the very least the character imagery should represent the common dump stat (the attribute no one wants, it is usually charisma or beauty, depending on game). You want the powergamer, go for the ugly dude with the *** hairstyle. (Wonder if they censor "***" as in the olden english word for "strange") - EVE is sick.

I mean drop me off in 0.0 and I can do damn near everything, but none of it really well. That's the real trap of EVE. But yeah he has a low Charisma.

Verokior's stats were on the other extreme of acceptability, methinks, and Khanid males are a bit too creepy. The problem is the default Aschura faces are messed up, but you can get a decent mug if you mess with things enough.

Well no one said charisma wasnt used for anything but once you have done the 3m sp in the engineering/electronics support skills (memory and int) theres hundreds of million of sp needed to be done in gunnery/missiles/spaceship command, all requiring perception and willpower having 16,5 charisma (3 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 10%) is more than sufficient to learn the small amount of leadership skills you really need If i were to make a new character based on figthing id do 6 int and mem, 12 perc and will, and 3 charisma

But then again, they DO have best stats for all around character. Khanid is also quite ok as alt race for combat if you shift some of your starting points into int / mem. And Charisma is still useless btw, unless you are missionrunner or gang support alt. And I would say that even for missionrunner charisma is the least important stat.

I get enough crap about ethnicity irl without it popping up in games as well. srsly, though. Deteis and Gallente are probably the only really decent looking bloodlines, male-wise, imo. Achura's won't come close to winning a beauty contest, but I wouldn't put them below a lot of Mataris and Amarrs. You can do something with Civire and Intaki, maybe, but you really can't get rid of the serial killer vibe there.
