[Contract Swindle] CCP please help!

Decimo Meridio	Posted - 2007.02.12 23:51:00 - [1] I'm been swindled on a contract. I've a vindicator for sale. Pvp'er contacted me and said me that he'll buy it at buyout price (1B). He said me that to lower taxes, i've to made a private auction contract to his corp (pvp'er corp), starting bid 1M and buyout of 1B. I know that I'm a noob, but i've done it. Now he has already done a bid, so i can't cancel theauction. But it's a swindle, he'll never take the buyout, so i only want to cancel my contract! This is the chat we had: PVP'er > hey Decimo Meridio > hi PVP'er > i will take the buyout on your vindicator Decimo Meridio > ok, can we meet in stacmon in 5 minutes? PVP'er > i'm down in 0.0 atm PVP'er > could you setup a private auction for me, can claim it that way Decimo Meridio > ok. give me 5 min ^^ PVP'er > min bid something like a mil, buyout 1 bil. No tax either then PVP'er > needs to be set to my corp by the way. Doesn't work setting it to a player Decimo Meridio > so i set it to pvp'er corp? PVP'er > yes PVP'er > they should change it so you can set it to a player really Decimo Meridio > but yesterday i was able to set a contract to a single person, so where is the problem? PVP'er > with auction it has to be corp PVP'er > as i said ccp really do need to add an option to set it to a player Decimo Meridio > so, if i make a item exchange contract, there are taxes, instead with auction, and you take the buyout, not PVP'er > i can't claim the item exchange from 0.0 Decimo Meridio > ok, i'm in stacmon PVP'er > downside is taxes with auction, so just set min 1 mil, buyout 1 bil PVP'er > got all the officer fittings for it already, just need the ship itself :) PVP'er > are you still here ? If you have 1 billion out bit him, yo'll pay yourself so the money comes back to you. You'll lose a bit on the tax but won't lose the whole thing.

My corpmate had someone (possibly the same guy) attempt it with him earlier in the day. Frankly, if CCP doesn't feel requests for private auctions aren't an exploit, then perhaps everyone should go around trying to use it. It's only going to get worse regardless until CCP closes the loophole that allows it. Funny how people used to think Escrow was a home for scammers and a new system would fix things. It just goes to show that as long as scams are allowed, people who are too lazy to actually play the game right will continue finding ways to cheat others.

Use item exchange because it's the one that makes sense. In eve, you need to suspect everything. Someone tried the same on me, almost identical speech about tax and private auction. I politely told them that if they could afford to buy the rather expensive faction item, then they could afford to pay the tax I also noticed his employ history..1 month old and buying Navy items... They gave me some ** about having sold their main blah blah and were starting out again I then offered my left nut for them to suck on Edit: p-oo-p is censored I should have used a ruder word Tears will stream down your face, when you lose something you can not replace**

I smile and figure I can possibly make a decent enough markup if they are still up there, seems like they are. At this point I say: Alright I'll take it, contract it to me or do you want me to come meet you for direct trade. Well DTrade aint possible he is out somewhere so I say 'ok contract it then' adding: 'item exchange type' a few seconds later. Guess what... the contractz wouldnt work for him he would relog and comeback to me later... he never did...
