Just a quick question, not sure if this is the right channel, but if you're a tackler, say in a frig, and you're scrambling/nossing/shooting/webbing a larger ship (that can fit medium/heavy nos) is there any way to counter your cap getting sucked dry and not being able to run anything? I have to orbit quite close as my guns dont hit out of range of their nos, and if im nossed im dead. So what do you guys usually do? Thanks for the advice

Orbit out of web range and use the scrambler, orbit out of NOS range, aproach and get closer the target, cap injectors (if the circunstance allows it), setup for distance aswell.
It really depends if your in a large or small gang, how many other tacklers there are. _______________________

Basically u cant.Nos is probably the most overpowered weapon in the game and I doubt u will find many bs who dont fit a nos these days.It is actually the only real counter to the fast orbiting frig.U could try using a tech 2 disruptor and trying to orbit at 24km.If u do that only a heavy diminishing best type nos will be in range to nos u.

Edited by: Ratey on 07/03/2007 11:22:47 good and very helpful info from Ginger, thanks.
The really expensive option is the Domination 30 km scram.
with signal amplifier and max skills, I can just barely stay out of heavy nos range in the claw inty, then if it's a faction heavy nos, then prolly not.
A speed rigged Crow with Domination 30 km scram?
The mentioned desy, fast interdictor is another option.

Nos can only truly be countered by an equal of larger amount of nos. I will prove this with my mathskills. Observe.
NOS < MANY NOS.
Im awsome.

Most of the suggestions here are valid but I'll add if you expect to succesfully tackle a BS with 1 frig sized ship then your likely to fail. The way it should be.
For BC's and Cruisers, more change of success due to smaller NOS sizes but good chance you'll still fail.
At best, against BS in a frig solo, expect to get 1 cycle of your scrambler off and maybe manage to escape alive - hopefully in time for your bigger friends to come and blow your opponent up.

Cap Injector + mad DPS usually puts domis into structure faster than you can say 'ransom'. Worked the first 9 times anyways, not quite sure what happened the 10th :-( (RIP Baddun)

If you use Minnie Guns, and a passive tank, you will be NOS-Proof.

IF you are tackling in frig and pinning down a BS that happens to be nossing you- you will not need any counter if your ship is fitted and you have at least half ass skills.
Cycle time of heavy nos is 12 sec. Frig will easilly maintain cap recharge of 3-6 pr sec depending on whether you are fitting small nos and/or cap power relay.
That give you 36-72 cap recharge during the nos cycle time. enough to maintain your position. Against dual heavy nos, run intermittantly you`ll need at least 6+ cap pr sec to tackle, but should still be able to maintain position.
there are more ways, but if you want to know them: join a proper pvp corp
I`m sick and ******* tired of people *****ing about nos. Solo or gangwise- a good player will overcome. If you get killed by a gang using tons of nos- it`s only a quicker way to die, not the reason. Pick a fight you can win or play monopoly with your little sister..

Passive Tanks - Shield or Armor
Use shield extenders, armor plates and make your resists as high as possible. With most ships, since your not fitting multiple armor reps or shield boosters, you'll usually have enough PG to fit better guns (i.e. Neutrons instead of Ions).

Hmm, a gang.. A (T2) battlecruiser Skirmish warfare links T2 disruptors ...
These do come to mind...
Else, tripple dampners on the sucker and someone cycle-jamming should solve the NOS problem.
If you want a counter when you are solo... get a bigger ship. And if you are in a gang as a tackler.. get a nano-cruiser.. they are great tacklers.. and they can if need be carry some NOS of they're own.. LOL And, unless you are ****-poor... get a Scorp.. they are the best tacklers out there.

I think large anything always hitting small ships is retarded. They need to just add tracking to nos. I win buttons of any kind are bad.

While I am not able to verify this person's thoughts on the matter (don't frig tackle much) - I'd listen to him - not anyone who just yells "nerf NOS" - god I hope they do not add tracking or what not to them. Restrict the number you can fit, sure, but don't nerf it against smaller ships - PLEASE!!
Take some of the suggestions here OP and test them out on a corp mate and you may get the hang of dealing with the NOS'ers when your tackling. I get the feeling timing the use of your modules is key here.

When i was in my Harpy today, i countered nos with sploding.
Took that dumb domi pilot ages to kill me, and some help from an abaddon and a kestrel. But i wasn't able to do anything, by being completely dry in 3 Seconds webbed and waiting for my soon to come death.
NOS suck.
