I just installed my Matrox Triplehead2go along with three 19'' TFTs and i wanted to let you know, that it's just awesome to play EVE at a 3 x 1280x1024 Solution.
Not only my Desk now looks like a Spaceship Command Panel but the whole overview is fantastic.
To everyone of you who might consider buying a Triplehead: You can't do anything wrong with it.
Have a look

Dude, this thing is far and away the best thing I have done for my Eve game. I love having all the extra windows and stuff off to the side, leaving the middle screen empty of clutter. If I am running solo or in small gang, I can actually zoom in and enjoy the full view of my ship, plus all the windows I need are open, corp chat, alliance chat, intelligence channels, overview full sized with a nice huge local window.
Have you been able to run the software optimizer yet? I can't seem to get it to do anything, but I don't really know what it can do to make things 'better'. How to pwn

I must admit, that after installing yesterday, I could not do anything else than watching.....watching....watching.... But I'll check the software as soon as I can.
And yes, it's a complete fantastic new thing, to have ALL the information I want on screen(s) and not having to sort out.

Hate is such a mean thing.
For giggles, I set up a client that spanned horizintally across 4 20.1" lcds....talka bout chat window space. Alas however, it was set back to allow 4 clients to run simulataneously as CCP seems to keep the client resolution setting server side (or it was just me not putting much effort into it) or something.
Hate is such a strong word. You reserve it for the person that goes out of their way to try and steal your significant other. If they happen to be successful, then you deserved it and should probably thank that person, otherwise you go out of your way to remind them. This is where hate comes into the picture. Therefore hate can be classified as a 'memory enhancer' for the stupid.

I'm not sure I quite understand you there about the 4 clients. I run up to 3 clients simultaneously with no problems in full screen using alt-tab. It's actually a lot faster than I expected, at 3840x1024 I am getting about 90-100fps on the clients. How to pwn

I run them side by side, not on top of each other. 1 client for each screen. Yeah I get about 50-60fps with all 4 out in space which is fine with me.

I run the eve client in a single screen now, and all the TS, IRC, etc. in the 2nd.

There is a driver for WinXP. I found it after a long websearch. I will check, if I can find the file and contact you, if I am successfull.

I run a very similar set up, dual 19 inch wide screen monitors. one major issue though is that when you run it across both screen like he has I get sick to my stomach. Reason being is that space is actually distorted at each end of the monitor. The only thing I can say is that it's trying wrap around you. and everything is out of proportion.

no, eve supports 3840X1024 , FOV is increased by about 40% at a guess and the rest is stretched, but all the chat/info boxes are at correct aspect ratio for width, only ship/space is stretched a tad
and VGA connectors on my system show a decent piccy , DVI not needed though the extra clarity would be nice, but as one who bought this on it's release I had no choice and it hasn't affected me -------------------------

True, there is alot hell of space to arrange the windows, but it just won't suite my likings.
I'd go for a 30" Apple Cinema Display, if I could afford it
P.S.: I'd like to see real Multi-Monitor-Support in EvE, so that I can play on the mainscreen, while having all the chats and stuff on a second one. That would be much better, than the Overview totally out of sight on that right monitor there. .

- 999Ç (Tripplehead + 3 Monitors) - absolutely easy to install. no problems at all. - it's a microsoft sidewinder strategic commander (programmable left hand device). but i recently bought a "saitek pro gamers command unit". that device is even better!

Right! Don't do virtual widescreen setups on two monitors, because of the point you mentioned. There was also a Matrox Dualhead2ToGo, but with that you'll encounter exactly this problem. All the "center info" is at that disadvantageous point where the two monitors "meet".
Originally by: Hllaxiu The screen on the left appears to have a greatly distorted image, though I could be wrong.
You're right. The outer screens are a bit distorted. That could be optimized.

Btw. There's 2 things you have to do: 1) Enable Anti-aliasing for the coolness 2) Persuade CCP to give you the opportunity to increase your Field Of View (to like 90 degrees, instead of 45 or something)

I run a 22" CRT @2048x1536 wtih 16xQFSAA and Supsampling, 16xAF, produces some lovely graphics even without the fancy DX9 stuff CCP has planned. And on an 8800GTX, I still run well above 70fps, and over 120fps in stations. I recommend the experience

I did consider getting another couple of 19 inches, for something similar.
But instead I went for a 1920x1200 24 inch Widescreen.
In window mode I can easily see two clients and what's going on.
When I'm out fighting then I generally switch to 1600x900, which still allows me plenty of desktop space, but also means I can see gang, command channels etc.
And for fleet ops and the like, 1920x1200 is glorious :)

Out of curiosity, I don't like the resolution limit with the triplehead2go. Is two video cards with dual outputs the way to go for higher res three monitors? Can it be two video cards with single outputs, but a splitter on one?
I'd like to purchase 3x 1600x1200 20".
this is starting to get out of podish.

Cant say that I like it at all. All that screen space may be nice but the distortion looks like crap.
I would rather have one normal size good looking screen than 3 distorted pictures of ass.

no, eve supports 3840X1024 , FOV is increased by about 40% at a guess and the rest is stretched, but all the chat/info boxes are at correct aspect ratio for width, only ship/space is stretched a tad
and VGA connectors on my system show a decent piccy , DVI not needed though the extra clarity would be nice, but as one who bought this on it's release I had no choice and it hasn't affected me
Wrong EVE does NOT adjust the FOV. I've bug reported it many times in the past and it never even gets a mention.
BTW, yes I run a TH2G and love it, even with the crappy FOV distortion.

PS: Yeah I know my character sucks :)
So do your curtains
Until they give eve proper multi monitor support, I think I prefer this setup to be honest... think that size is a bit extreme, but just a big widescreen monitor at a high resolution.
It would be such a pain having to keep glancing a foot away just to see whats on, and click on the overview.
I suppose just the ability to move the overview would fix that tho .. devs
From a usability point of view, the only real need for a second monitor is somewhere to put chat windows. Doesnt even need to render the environment, just a black screen would do.

Until then I am quite happy with my current dual setup allowing me to play like this.

Shame they can't narrow the border of the monitors. Having an inch of silver would annoy me. I'd keep worrying there were cov-ops hiding behind it.

Im actually tempted to buy it... dont tempt me!
But it would really make Eve look a lot better. That annoying overview takes up so much space, it would be lovely to get more free space on the screen by using 2-3 screens.

Edited by: Chuck Dexter on 11/08/2007 21:56:48 Hi,
i bought the same setup. A "Matrox Triple Head 2 Go (Analog)" and 3 19" TFT Displays with 2 NVidia Geeforce 6800 GT in SLI Mode. But i have the problem that the "Matrox surround gaming software SGU" said, that eve-online is supported, but cannot optimized in the software. So the followingway is displayed:
'HOW TO' configuration info for:
'EVE - Online'
Start the game. Once the main screen appears press the ESC key. Click on the GRAPHICS tab. Click on the down arrow beside ADAPTER RESOLUTION. Choose 1 of the 4 Triple Head resolution 1920x480, 2400x600, 3072x768, 3840x1024.
So i start the Eve Client in FULLSCREEN-Mode, but the 4 possible Triple Head resolutions 1920x480, 2400x600, 3072x768, 3840x1024 are NOT displayed. When i change in "Windows-Mode" and click the "Adapter Resolution" button again there comes up the 3840x1024 resolution. I click on it and Eve changed the resolution in the correct 3 Display "Windows-Mode" on the three TFT's. But i want to play Eve in the Full-Screen Mode. So my question is, how to manage it?
Anyone here with this TripleHead2Go Setup who can explain me exactly how i have to do it? Or can i run this setup really only in the Eve "Window-Mode"???
Thank you very much for the help. Greetings Chuck

Oh come on thats totally unrealistic!
Wheres the empty bear cans, the greasy glasses. The cat hair all over the keyboard; the A3 printouts of Eve regions; the piles of other paperwork; pens scattered around. Dust! Nobody keeps their desk that tidy.
