I normally never say anything on this "downtime" subject, but honestly, it is VERY difficult to defend what is happening here and dismiss "skill time wasted" by ending skills and not being able to continue training so easily when the main part of the game is based on YOUR skill set and that skill set is tied DIRECTLY to TIME involved.
Eh, just add this to the:
You know your addicted to EVE when...
... your sleep, work and family time is put on hold while you wait for servers to come up so skill training can continue.

Not at the moment. I work at a computer helpdesk. Basically as long as we answer the phone we can play games all day. In fact, the only time I play EVE is at work.

Okay we all need some entertainment:
A guy goes over to his friends house, rings the bell. The wife answers.
"Hi, is Tony home?"
"No, Chris, he went to the store."
"Well, do you mind if I wait?"
"No, come on in."
They sit down and the friend says, "You know Sara, you have the greatest ******* I've ever seen. I'd give you a hundred bucks if I could just see one."

Sara say what the hell, opens her robe and gives Chris a nice long look. Chris thanks her and throws another hundred bucks on the table and says he can't wait any longer for Tony and leaves.
A while later Tony arrives home and his wife says, "You know, your weird friend Chris came over."
Tony thinks about this for a second and says, "Well, did he drop off the 200 bucks he owes me?"
