I have read all the "its biggest server in the world " posts or "I have paid I deserve a better DT hour" all valid in a very minor way Me I would personally like someone from CCP just spending 1 minute to say " Sorry boys I pressed this doodad when I should have been pulling this geejaw sorry chaps I've broke" Nothing much really to ask for

Oh my GOD! 7 HOURS of my life not spent playing EVE Online?!
Seriously guys, no matter how seemingly brilliant this game is - It's just a game. Go do something else, get some fresh air while the downtimes on. In fact, why don't you try playing Navyfield? The Devs are a hell of a lot worse than the guys here.

you dont work with computers do you ? computers dont play friendly, they just break. deny it if you want but unwanted issues WILL occurr. so could very well be nobody did anything wrong, and the server just had a bad breakfast

30.000 char's maybe not 30.000 players. So many in EvE have alts, and heard that some have up to 10 alts running so that they can keep mining or what ever and earn enough ISK to buy times card to all of them.
When I started there was around 7.000 char's online in a normal day and in the weekends up 10.000. Don't think there's 20.000 new PLAYERS that joined the game since I started.
Alt's can be good and yes I had an alt for around 6 month. Then decided to give EvE a break and got rid of it again. After I started again I don't really miss it that much. And yes ofc doing to that the people I play with have alt's and they are kind enough to help me out move my gear in a freigter. But when that was done, I haven't had need for an alt.
I don't see a problem in people having 1 alt. If you so wishes. It can be fun to play another race and try other skills then your main. But 6-10 alt's, thats just sick imo. Why would you need them..... What do you use them for? Sit in Jita at 4-4 and make the system/server lag like crazy??
CCP removed all instan's, which hit me abit, cause I spend ALOT of time making them (okay maybe not as long as BMKing, or what ever he was called).
I don't know how you could control it, and monitor it. But if it could be done, there's another problem with it. Because people pay for their alt's, and if CCP made it so, they would lose money..... But I hope CCP would think about it. And think about the gameplay insted if the financial.

Hi.
I've only played a few days, but I must say I'm a bit surprised of all the downtime and bugs, like not being able to sell anything for a full day now.
But I'm hoping it's just because a new patch was released recently, and that things will go back to normal afterwards, what ever normal is
Anyway they probably have some reasons for just having one server (or is there a Chinese one too?), but I'd prefer if they got more servers so that we could play on another while one is down, like WoW. Would also be good to have a few hours of weekely downtime instead of every day, also like WoW.
Sorry for comparing with WoW all the time, but it's the only online game I've tried before EVE.

Everytime a extend downtime comes, most who are trying to get their 9-13H skills synchronized (yes some do sleep) will loose money. And iam not talking about ISK i mean REAL MONEY.
Since we pay for the skill training...
Now again i think the biggest issue right now is the "lag on missioneers area". Hell yesterday i saw 210 peeps in Motsu - Caldari State area. GUess what? 60% of it were NOT caldari. Isnt it awesome? We Caldarians, not only have to live with Jita lag, which is ok since players will always try to find 1 big commerce spot (kinda like to have it close of 'home'), but we also have to live with UNPLAYABLE lag in "caldari mission land" cause non-caldaris come to mission here.
Ive heard that we got the best agents * most secure areas but duuuuuuuude.... GO HOME!

Scary isn't it... We've paid to play EVE online which is supposed to be running 23/7. Yup 1 hour of downtime per day. This may shock you, but there are also several features of the game that run on absolutes..... Absolute termination of an action after so much time. People only have X amount of time to play per day - and sometimes the times of downtime and peoples availablility may conflict - such as POS refueling time etc. This annoucned down time is frustrating, using the example of POS refueling as if the POS goes down, upto months of planning can be ruined. Not nice at all.
It's not just a game. Its an investment of time to which you wish to achieve something. Its pvp in every sense of the idea...by either personal ship destruction or market interaction! Its a distraction, and excape from the 'real' world to which every one of us that plays eve for the long term partakes in. And people do take this very seriously - if you deny this you are fooling yourself.
Korotoni, if you're not here in a few months it wont suprise any of the eve community.

Edited by: Korotani on 22/03/2007 17:51:50 Believe me, I will be around a few months from now, and I won't be the one whining about losing one precious hour of game time. (Quick edit, I doubt any of the Eve community care that I'm around, why should they care if I disappear?)
I realise that MMORPGS are a new kind of social interaction, a world away from ours that we can delve into. But like a few people have said, there's a EULA that you've agreed to. Why don't you try plugging bits of hardware into a large, busy(strained?) server and sort out the bugs that arise from it? Delays always happen in real life, why shouldn't they happen here?
Fact is, downtime is very regular, and it begins on the dot, not before - Take engineering works, they start on time but rarely finish on time. Why don't you just plan ahead? You make months of preparation to build a POS, just add that into your equation! If you have the numbers to build a POS, then surely someone can shift fuel and have it delivered before the downtime begins.
And I will reiterate my original statement: It's a game. People take games too seriously nowadays. Lighten up and enjoy it, and learn to enjoy something else if the game isn't there all of a sudden. So what if you can't play EVE at a certain time? You can't do a thing about it, and the devs were working hard to get the server back up again, I just went off and did some work and other things - can't change the past.
