It will be officially declassified by the Minmatar Department of Fleet Operations and the Minmatar Department of the Navy for public dissemination, free of charge, when completed.
However-- any contribution, be it isk, drawings, text, or speculation as to what a photon injector flow modulator, matter reactive syphon regulator, or cross-latteral field stabilizer mount look like will all get a note on a yet to be designed awesome contribution page. Please evemail me or post to this if you would like to contriubute!
There was a post on minnie design philosophy I was going to reply to- I'll get to that later, as I had some thoughts on it as well.

The rear of the ship is always in scale, it's just the engines I messed up on. I've been reworking them. Check out that command section drawing. I figured there's about 450m3 of space to be filled with cargo and ammunition, engineering, operations, the*****pit (or pod), and basic living quarters. That main section would make a very nice main cabin and hold...

your idea is soooo geeky! thats good :D
i am still missing the cut throuoghs though. so i thought id make my own.. these are 10 minute sketches! so naturally the rez. will be alot higher (basically repainting the parts of the ship in a much higher rezolution to get the details down... right now its just a blurry mess :D but i think the idea comes across..
i dont have much time on my hands.. but i would like to have it in the background.. just adding a bit once in a while.... what actually has to go where, i will leave to you engineering freaks :D i just like to draw it :)
send me an Eve mail if you think it could work :)

Dude, I LOVE that*****pit/bridge. Awesome work man! I was thinking of using the rear section for the quarters, though. I sort of thought of the command area as sort of being built like the delta flyer (I know, I know, -300 points for the reference). What I mean is that the top of the craft is translucent or 2-way, and the pilot sits further down in a sort of cramped pilot's chair with allll kinds of dials and low-tech hitech controls. I sort of imagine the rest of the front cabin as systems diagnostics. Pipes and such, too.
Anyway--- awesome work. I checked out your site and it all looks great.
btw- +40 for your levels on the b&w. You may want to burn and dodge it up a little bit, but it looks pretty good!

You need to create a chapter, or at least a couple pages, detailing the different kinds of duct tape. Come up with a color code and part number for each kind.
High temperature duct tape for securing engine components.
Insulating duct tape for exposed wiring
Sealant duct tape for patching holes
High strength sealant duct tape for joining hull components.
Cold stable duct tape for joining components in absolute zero
Standard duct tape for general use in the pressurized areas of the ship.

Someone tossed this up in a thread in another forum, thought I'd give you this link: Ship blueprints from back in the day
Unfortunately (or perhaps it is better for this project) the image of the Rifter isn't very good. Dunno if these numbers are still what the Devs use when they talk about having us walk around stations. Thanks to Frightspear for having a bookmark to the images!

When I was working on the overhead, I noticed something. The max breadth in the bp is wrong. I think it came to something like 68...
I'll have another look later...

Great idea, seriously, one friendly request tho, make it a bit more 'sci fi'- ish. like the battlestar galactica documents, they look just like earth ones but the different shape makes for a nice subtle effect to it -----

I know it's been a while since the last update, but this project is nowhere near dead!
I bought myself a very sexy new DV6338Se and I've been installing all the stuff to it.
I've also taken the obligatory break from all things important to play some CNC3, but ill be back on the manual asap. More art to upload, I just have to clean it up.
As far as text, anyone want to give me a hand with the backstory of how the rifter came to be? Anyone want to explain why the 2000 rifter is so radically different than the 2003-2007 rifter? any concept art out there? fiction? yeah i cant do this alone :P

I found this on the eve-website: http://www.eve-online.com/races/theodicy/Theodicy_All.pdf It's a nice story about minmatar soldiers, and the rifter. Also, it contains nice drawings of said rifter. Check it out! I hope it's of use to you, snake :)

This is definantely the coolest nerdiest thing I've ever seen and when it is complete I will train Mimnatar Frig to 5...and I'm an Amarr who refuses to fly any other flipping ship!
If you want any help with editing I am the Marketing Director of an engineering corp so I always have to edit technical mumbo jumbo to the point that it becomes completely non-sensical in its attempt to be accessible to all.

While that's true, this will be the manual for the crewed version. There will be a mention of the pod interface, and I'll show how it's integrated as well.

Feel free to use this, expand on it, change it in any way, or discard it entirely:
The Rifter, like all Minmatar ships does not use an actual tractor beam but rather a modified duct tape projector. The idea is that a ribbon of duct tape is fired from a special turret located in the bow of the vessel. When contact is made with the target the duct tape adheres to the surface and the target is then "reeled in" with the duct tape rerolled back onto its original roll.
Disclaimer: I am at work and have not read the whole thread. If a similar idea has already been put forth, I apologize.

Don't forget you're still IN the pod when you're on the ship. So all the control decks and walkways in the world don't do jack squat for the capsuleer. |

Love the project. Fantastic design work and I too love the rifter.
I found that if you want something to look really used take it out of the digital domain....
i.e. print it out and 'use' it. Then scan it back in. I used to play 'photoshop tennis' with a friend and one of the best pictures we did involved printing something out, splashing it with 'fake blood' sticking it to some card board and plunging a bread knife through it from behind before taking a picture of it and putting it back into Photoshop for some cleaning up... he never did figure out how the hell I got the reflections on the knife so accurate until I told him :)

I know I keep promising new stuff, but I've been kind of busy lately. I've got some stuff to scan and clean up, but I haven't been able to get the time lately. I'd really like to have the comm section up this weekend... Anyway, just an update. Yeah, I'm still working on it, but I haven't really had time to give it 100%, and if it's not at least 95%, I won't upload it.... Soon though.
Just remember, it's a pretty big project! I'm working, but it will take some time :)
