The summer expansion development schedule is upcoming so I thought that I would start this thread to see what is on everyone's wish list. I have no doubt that this upcoming expansion will deliver much needed and highly anticipated content to Eve Online; however, the devs can only provide so much content in a single expansion. As such they need to prioritize which time-consuming features they will work on. So I ask, if you could pick three main features and only three main features, what would you, my fellow capsuleer, choose?

Here is my wish list for summer:
-Tiericide
It's a (relatively) easy way to introduce a lot of viable ships for everyone to fly at once.
-Faction warfare changes
Those poor folks desperately need it.
-Soveriegnty mechanics changes
I stopped living in nullsec because I got bored of shooting massive structures all the time. |

SOV wouldn't affect me directly but I think it would be good for the game over all. I am guessing that by "Tiericide" you mean making some changes like boosting tier one battle cruisers so that they are viable options against tier 2 ones?

*Bounty system overhaul: as of now placing a bounty on someone is as good as depositing the isk in their account. This needs to change.
*Random mission generator: too many redundant missions. Need more variety.
*Alliance/Corp logos for ships: not necessary but nice for those into it. We do need more variety in Corp logos though so that needs updating.
*UI overhaul: UI can alsways use improvement as the game changes.
*Wardec mechanics changes: one thing I would like to see change is disallowing the ability to wardec "1 man" corps by larger corps. It's really extortion in disguise.
*Mining overhaul: something (anything) that gives miners a fighting chance agains Hulkaggedon.
*Local chat/intel gathering: Local should not give you away when you are cloaked. It defeats the purpose.
*Better visual/sound effects in space: always a plus. |

Also...I would like to see the old probing system return, or some other system that actually rewards people who learn how to scan things/ships down. It's insanely easy the way it is now, so every idiot with a probe launcher is out there scanning down all the valuable sites in hisec/losec. |

The theme for 2012 is "War" according to new senior producer CCP Unifex and I really hope this means they are making FW have consequences in EVE, like if one faction lose space part of highsec becomes lowsec cutting off popular trading routes . That would be awesome.

My point is that I would like to see that part of the game expanded. Right now, there is not much to it, IMHO. |

- Fix all the problems around repping -5 fleet members and the standing hits it gives.
- Changes to make occupancy matter.
- Changes to how occupancy is gained and lost (not much the current system is good since the last patch)
Low sec
- Stop fighter bomber deployment, if titans can't DD then why can SCs use FBs?
- Buff mineral / ice value, low sec is by far the most dangerous area of space (possibly bad WHs) it should have rewards to match
Economy
- Address the massive influx of ISK, reduce the ISK payout of incursions in favour of more LP. Find more ways of getting ISK out of the system. Losses don't really hurt any more and soon they will be trivial to most. Not long ago fitting T2 on a ship was pretty much pimp, and faction was only for the carebears. Now many ships are lol-fit if they don't have a significant amount of faction on them.
Other worthy changes - Tiericide (frigs, BCs, cruisers) BS seem fine, POS changes, BO buff, EAF buff, science and industry changes including multiple identical job installations

adds a basic cargo hold of 500m3 (for crystal storage) + an orehold of 10000m3 - industrial subsytem skill bonus - 10% increase in orehold size per level + 7.5% increase in ore yield per level + 7.5% bonus to mining drone yield per level
Ice mining subsystem - cannot be fitted inconjuction with interdiction nullifer subsystem

Bounty system has potential but is hopelessly broken atm. No one seems really happy with wardecs as they are. Mining is just for botters and people watching tv or reading books.

The tiers system is just silly, there shouldn't be ships in eve that just better than each other without trade-off
Ships should have not different roles not just worse/better. How many ferox/brutix (bar suicide gank)/cyclone/prophecy do you see around? |

There would be a ton of false positives with software verification alone. I think what we really need to properly combat bots is a greater level of community involvement in-game. |

I agree the tier system is pretty weak but I think there are plenty of ships that are viable. Its not that big of a deal. Would the mineral requirements for each ship change? if so would all ships require the minerals of tier 3 ships? Would they nerf the teir 3 ships and buff the tier one ships to make them all like tier 2?

-Faction Warfare Overhaul Seriously these people have been asking for years, I really feel sorry for them that they have had no love from CCP since it's release
-Moons / Moon Goo changes Tech is absurd, having to fight over resources is one of the reason people fight in 0.0, but currently tech is just too centralized and worth 5-100x more valuable than any other resource available.
-UI Improvements Fix small bugs, keep adding useful features, find some way to fix the lag of the overview in large fleet fights. Team papercuts has been doing a great job and I hope they keep up the work |

1) WiS Upgrades It doesn't have to be anything major, just something to make WiS more useful than it is currently. Something like either separating your portrait from your current clothing choice, or adding a social area that we can venture to outside our cabin.
2) PI Polish Like WiS, it's a feature that still feels rather incomplete. The recent changes are nice, but some more polish and streamlining would be nice. While more skills would be nice, you can't do that without adding more depth to the PI gameplay, which is what I really want anyway.
3) Alliance/Corp logos for ships I would expand this to being able to customize our ship's paint job completely. It's win-win, since you can use it as both an isk sink as well as an avenue for increased character customization.

No more awful single massive high HP structures for sov, multiple smaller activities and facilities create incremental sov influence over this and nearby solar systems. All Sov should require wide scale player use and structure to maintain and improve not isk and multiple timers. Running and protecting Sov should be profitable for the people that use it (higher risk = higher reward) All sov profitability and level should be damaged slowly over by abuse or failure to protect Attacking sov should be profitable (raiding)/ improving your sov nearby (increases influence by fear)

This makes the higher Tier ships more valued then the lower Tier ships because they can preform there roles better.
Tieracide is the taking away of the Tier System and rebalancing the ships around there role instead of the extra day of training making one ship better for ever.
That way Grid, CPU, Slots, Bonuses, HP, Cap are given on a case by case basis of what is needed for a ship to optimally function.
If not done lazily they can look at each ships roles and make all the ships considered to be pretty much useless or ineffective and bring them back into the fold.

Each class of ship has different tiers. Tier 1 -3 of frigates - battleships. Tier 3 cost more becasue they take more minerals to make. They are generally better than the tier 1 version.

FW - Make it have real consequences for citizens of new eden.
Objectives for militias that will lower security of key systems in opposing militias empire (trading routes, mission hubs) from highsec to lowsec. Thus, factions would have to defend their space to enable safe travel and missioning in highsec.
And scanning, local, cloak changes. It is too digital today. I think this thread "Hiding in Eve- Why We Cloak" gives a good idea of how to change the mechanics and create a kind of "terrain" in space.

There is so many things that need love picking three is impossible.
1. Remove all forms of instant, zero risk, effortless forms of intel gathering. Introduce a scanner that has a vast degree of results depending on ship, pilot skill and most of all effort put into gathering intelligence. 2. Power projection needs a swift and hard colossal kick in the nuts. Being friends with someone eight regions away is fine, but the fact you can be there to help blob out a three man battlecruiser gang in a matter of a couple minutes is ******* ********. 3. Moon and POS revamp. Get rid of all forms of static income for that matter.

FW needs to be more like a war rather than an arena event tacked on to a low-sec area. Non FW players in war zones should be deemed spies and valid targets for both sides. Sorry 'alt' folks.
Missions are stale, and no matter how good the argument is that they are a stepping stone and not a main focus of the game, they are something that turn players away after a while. Really the interaction with NPCs needs an overhaul so that your standing has a more dynamic effect on your play.
The UI is horrible, hard to understand and hard to read. With it D-scan needs an overhaul as well and both need to be integrated as one unit. Yes, I only have a Vigil, I've had a bad bit of luck Ok? |

TBH I kinda liked it that I could not fly the Hyperion for a long time or properly make use of the Abaddon. Gave me something to work for and long towards.
My top 3 would be then: 1: POS overhaul, as mentioned in the dead horse thread. 2: moon goo overhaul, make moons deplete and spawn new goo on random moons elsewhere or something like that. 3: fix low sec somehow

Revamp mining - Been **** for years and has been taking beatings for years. Not really worth doing at all at this point. They deserve the revamp more than anyone else.
Fix wardecs - Was bad, is now borderline broken. Needs to be fixed to form a coherent working system to handle empire hostilities.
UI overhaul - Everyone will benefit from this and EVE really needs additional improvements on this front.
Those are my choices, but I wouldn't be disapointed if something else would be implemented instead and certain choices will come no matter what we choose. For example the DUST connection is a must have and FW people have recieved some promises, so they'll propably get love no matter what people choose and it's a bit pointless to even make the DUST connection a choice here. Continual visual improvement for the game are also a must to keep the game relevant in the gaming market, so visual improvements will be part of the expansion no matter what.

It will go along way. People think of Tiericide in simple terms, giving it the same base HP or Slot Number or fittings as the higher tier.
That is the lazy way and why as I said earlier if done they should get it right. At its heart Tiericide is looking at a ship and instead of arbitrarily buffing stats you look at what the ship is and what it means to fly it and ask why, why is it seeing less action then her piers. It means looking at the Higher Tiers that are less used and asking the same.
For Example: perhaps the prophecy could use a Dmg Bonus, perhaps it should have more base tank then the Harbinger or the Harbinger needs less. Perhaps the Harbinger could use an optimal range bonus and some speed for an example to make it a good ranged DPS Boat. Then you test them and see how you like there roles. Are they good with there old roles? Do they need new ones? Do there old roles work but the bonuses, speed, fitting, slots, drones are not up to the task.
You look at each ship, there stats and the ships they will be competing against and try not to make them equal but give them there own tactical niches and weaknesses. When you have that sorted you watch them and see what people are doing for future rebalance. If all works out then the goal of Tiericide is simple, the ships that are used continue as such and the ones who are not get a breath of new life. This ideally includes the T2's which often have the same role but better, many of them can not preform them to snuff so you look at the positive changes to there base models and work at improving them as well or in the case of successfeul Advance Ships pass the love down such as the Zealot to the Omen or Vegabond to the Stabber.
In all it means more fearsome competition between ships. An EVE where there is as much to fear from a Bellicose or Celestis on Field as a Blackbird but for entirely different reasons and for entirely different opponents.

I. Hate. Bots. With. A. Passion. I hate them so much they are the very reason why I endorse ganking in the first place. They are the scourge of all MMOs and deserve no safe haven.
Mining Overhaul
This has to be overhauled. The sooner CCP overhauls the mining system, the better we will be able to deal with the bot users. I will enjoy the day when bot tears will be at their freshest. After all, CCP needs more tears to quench the thirst of their hamsters. I hear that bot tears are the purest form of tears in the universe. |

Make lowsec more profitable and give it something unique so that there's a compelling reason to be there other than a lack of concord.
Overhaul FW, the wardec system, and bounty hunting.
I really think CCP could do a lowsec-focused expansion that fixed FW problems and added cool new content like the concord-based pseudo-sovereignty that I proposed a while back. At the same time, fixing highsec mechanics like wardecs and bounty hunting could fit nicely into the overall theme of it. I even named the expansion I'd make: Enforcement. |

1. Command Ship rebalance.
As a ship class Command ships are wholefull underpowered for their price tag and more importantly their training time. I'm not going to get into hyper specific details comparing training times of commands vs t3s however I will point out a blantantly obviously issue that the majority of "Field Commands" suffer from. Take a look at the total slots available to tier 2 BCs, now take a look at the total slots of the field commands. Other than the Sleipnir and Astarte they all have 1 less slot than tier tech 1 brothers, this needs to change if these ships are ever to be commonly used/trained for. On a more focused note, the Myrm has 1 less total slots than other tier 2s, so the Astarte actually has same number of slots as the Myrmidon. This should have no effect on the point i'm trying to make which is +1 slot for Absolution, Astarte, and Nighthawk.
2. Ratting...
I know this is a rather broad issue to be brought up however I strongly believe that the majority of ratting in this game needs to be reworked to function more similarly to that of incursions and W space. This does not mean that the total difficulty will be increased, instead it would be an improved to the rats AI as well as seed many of the hulls on pirate/navy rats that are not present. Examples would be tier 2 bcs, tier3 bcs, tier 3 BS and maybe even some capitals.
The other point I'd like to touch on is variation in sites by greatly varying the types of spawns and even the rooms associated with each site. This would in the end allow for potentially hundreds of combinations for each site making every ratting experience slightly more unique and thought provoking over the static and predictable isk faucets we have atm.
3. High sec incursions.
Nerf this vastly overpowered isk faucet please... High sec incursions have had a very detrimental effect on eve's economy as a whole.
Null and low-sec incursions should remain unchanged. |

While I'd like to see most of what the OP listed these three would be my picks.
Tiericide is the one I'm a bit torn on actually. Basically, you can't take a WW1 dreadnought and expect it to hold its own against a WW2 battleship. Considering some of Eve's ships are recent developments with others having been around for hundreds of years, I'd expect this to be the same. On the other hand, you can always upgrade a viable hull to modern standards, especially when your defensive systems are mostly modular. There are examples of the same ship hull being utilized for the next generation of ships in RL, notably the successor to the Nimitz class as it will still use a Nimitz-class hull.
POS revamp: I've always hated the way POSes looked. A way to have several different modules docked to one another and the POS control tower would make a lot more sense to me. I think the way Egosoft's upcoming X Rebirth is supposed to be handling this is more or less the best alternative. Just my two cents, of course. Also, lots of work, artwork especially.
Visuals/sound effects: Who are you kidding, you're in this for either pew or for mining. Shiny effects make either occupation more fun. |

I think this is a fantastic idea. Local Chat needs to be passive and only there if you want to join.
In addition to changing DScan they need to add a "Hail Ship/Fleet" button to immediately put you in contact with a non-friendly ship/fleet. I am not sure if there is already a fast way to do this but I have not seen it.

All new music to replace the old dinosaur EvE music. The music themes and the game themes just seem so mismatched and foreign. Much of it is peaceful and serene melodies which doesn't fit. We need mysterious, somber. and ominous music.

CCP should really have a look at High Tech Creations game called Aces High II.
It has a pretty nice in game recording system, that just records to a flat txt like file that is then replayed via a player that uses the game models and graphic from the installed game. This means you can record hundreds of videos if not hours and hours of video with no issues of size concerns. You can then export to AVI to create an actual video or just give other players the recording of the basic data that they can then view in their recorder/player.
It's actually a pretty ingenious solution that I'm really surprised other games haven't copied. Would work pretty damn good with EVE. The really cool part is it then allows you to select various camera angles to view from and not just a single view from the player perspective. |

Faction Warfare - This is a given. CCP seems to not understand that FW is severely affecting new player recruitment by virtue of the fact that every new player wants to join militia and is promptly informed in their first week of play that EVE has at least one horribly flawed major feature...and they almost joined it.
New Tech 3 Modular Ships - I believe CCP is working on Frigates iirc, but I personally think a modular battleship would be very fascinating and give the potential for BS's to have a role in small gangs more often in all areas of space.
New Industrial Ships and Missions - Mining (gas/ice/ore) could use an overhaul, mobile manufacturing (think orca/rorq that has say 2/6 lanes manufacturing) would be very fun and add a new dimension to supplying wars throughout the game hisec to WH, and revamp of courier, mining, industrial missions - much of which could be improved if industrials had a way to use even basic combat tech effectively. |

Alright, I would have to say that my big three for the Summer Expansion would be GÇ£Military-Industrial ComplexesGÇ¥. Allow me to explain.
I) Military A) Faction Warfare needs attention. i. Make it impossible to dock in systems that are hostile to your Militia. (i.e. no 24th Imperial Crusade docking in a system with Minmatar Sov) ii. Make anybody who fleets with or tries to Logi/RR milita members in hostile territory GCC for the hostile milita (i.e. TLF being RRed by a non-militia neutral in a system with Amarr Sov causes the non-militia neutral to go GCC while in Amarr Systems) iii. Make FW plexing require more PVP rather than PVE, when the plex starts have it sound an alarm to members of the defending milita within say 5-10 jumps (they should get a notification similar to when a POS is under attack) B) Wardecs need some attention as well i. Make the cost of a wardec scale with the ratio of GÇ£combat-skillGÇ¥ points between the aggressor and the target corp (i.e. aggressor corp has 15:1 ratio of total GÇ£combat-skillGÇ¥ points with the target corp, the aggressor corp is going to pay 150m ISK per week, make it a nominal fee of maybe 100k ISK if the ratio is <=1:1) ii. Make the above cost be recalculated everytime someone joins/leaves the aggressor corp after the war is initially declared. Immediately issue a bill for the difference from the initial cost if it is increased. If the cost decreases, it will be the new cost of the war bill the next time that bill would come due (Sorry, CONCORD has a no refunds/no exchanges policy)

ii. II) Industrial A) Mining should receive some Love. i. Increase EHP for Exhumers to something like 100k, 250k and 500k (divide by 2 for T1 Barges). Make them wholly unable to fit modules that aren't Ice Harvesters, Mining Upgrades, Shield Boosters/Extenders/Hardeners and Strip Miners. Drones/Rigs should remain unaffected. IMHO, these changes should discourage ganking and encourage fleet mining ops (which in my experience are social events that are not botted). ii. MAKE ICE FIELDS DEPLETE though to balance this, every constellation should have at least 1-2 Ice Fields iii. Reduce the number of GÇ£Asteroid BeltsGÇ¥ in every system to a maximum of 2 though give every system 8-12 gravimetric sites (include the ice fields with these) with quality of the sites increasing as the systems security level decreases. The basic asteroid belts that are available shouldn't contain anything aside from basic Scordite and basic Veldspar. Also make all ices/ores potentially available in any system though only from the gravimetric sites seeded throughout. iv. Add random events to the new gravimetric sites which cause them to become hybrid sites of a sort. Perhaps an unusually large asteroid is concealing a source of solid Mykocerosin which is vaporized by the mining laser causing a huge explosion that damages every ship in the site as well as dispersing the remaining asteroids in the site leaving behind only a gas cloud of the type of Mykocerosin that had been stored within. Maybe there are already NPC pirates mining the grav site with their own barges as well as a security detail. These are just two examples, I am sure that there are many other possibilities. v. Make belt rats escalate, if they aren't taken care of fairly quickly, they call for backup (especially if they come across a fleet mining op). Give them better AI as well. vi. Make Scrapmetal Reprocessing required to reprocess anything, without it, you can only sell your loot on the market. You can still refine minerals from ore, but no reprocessing any non-ore items without Scrapmetal Reprocessing. Even then, the amounts should be reduced from current. B) Corporations should get some Love. i. Make them them a little more intuitive as far as assigning roles is concerned. Also, more granularity as far as granting access would definitely be a welcome change. Why must I grant access to a tab in every office if I want someone to have access to the tab in more than just one office. Even if I only want them to have access to two offices, it is either only one or every. ii. Corporations should be able to choose to either be specialist or generalist corporations. Generalist corporations would grant the most flexibility, though that would be sole benefit. Specialist Corporations could be divided into categories such as Industrial, Mercantile and Mercenary. Maybe Industrial Corporations get two extra Corporate Science and Industry slots per member (which could be handed out by Directors), but they are restricted from initiating Wardecs. Perhaps Mercantile Corporations get a .1% reduction in fees and taxes for market sales though at the cost of not having any Corporate Science and Industry capability at all. Maybe Mercenary Corporations get slight reduction in the cost of initiating Wardecs though are restricted to using Contracts for buying/selling. Devour to survive, so it is, so it's always been |
