You're all so wrong...most obviously, charon is pronounced like this!
EDIT: By the by, most threads around these parts sound like this too

Or "Inferno" by Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle (authors of "The Mote in God's Eye"). A science fiction writer dies, recognizes Dante's Hell, and (being a sci-fi guy) spends most of the story convinced he was cryogenically frozen & then thawed out centuries later in some sadistic theme park. A fun read as well.

Care-on would be a slightly exaggerated version of it. But it's not a soft ch, it's a hard ch. As in Chemistry, Chameleon etc.

It can be pronouced either way. For example, the large moon orbiting pluto is called Charon, prounced with a "Sh" at the front, rather than a K.

2. i always say charon like the english name sharon simply because its easier and quicker
