Yup. That's kinda the point of the system - you can't do everything yourself, so you need to find some people to help you, rather than just metagaming your way around the problem.

One account, one character. I could afford 10 accounts, but such money is better spent on the psychotherapist!
I am of the 'if you can't do it with one account, don't f'in bother' school. I can appreciate the reasons for people having more than one though.
Some players have clearly gone all zezima though.

If you want / have to play solo often then 2+ is a simply must have. For example, mining: 1 account with a battleship to mine and tank rats, 2nd account with a mining barge / hauler and more effective to have 3rd - a command ship / hauler to maximize effectiveness.
Another example ratting: 1 account a battleship to kill spawns, 2nd a hauler with a salvager and tractor beam to haul / salvage and 3rd account - if you rat in big systems with 15+ belts - to scout for next BS spawn in a capsule.
When you traveling in 0.0 or even low secs it's a must to have a scout.
If you never play solo then obviously 1 account will be enough for you.
On the other hand still much more effective to have 2+ accounts and specialize them: like fighter, industrial / hauler, covert ops, capital ship pilot etc-etc

More than one, because I play a lot and want to enjoy the full content. Otherwise I would be more or less restricted to alliance pvp and maybe ratting/complex running.
Isk wise it might be better, but I prefer to log to my industrial char and play with invention and such.
Since someone mentioned 'work', yes, currently it feels like it, like two days ago, when I was moving my freighter char 30+ jumps to sell his freighter, because I needed isk urgently, while moving my industrial char 15 jumps to start another invention job, and then I had 10 minutes time left to log to my main, refit my battleship to what was requested and join a pvp ops.
Or yesterday when I was salvaging a mission, while my main was alreadyy on its way to an op 35 jumps or so away. 
I hope that it gets more relaxing once I have everything running.

I used to have 1 account. For some months i have 2 now. I used to pvp in fairly cheap ships and thought paying 23 mil for a rack off T2 guns on a mega was expensive. My main pvp's and alt trades. Now im able to lose multiple capitalships and be cool with it. Not to mention scouting power, market checks, moving goods, building stuff, researching stuff. The usefullness of simply having a 2e char, buying in jita and than bringing to my main.

Yeah it gets kinda frustrating when all your corp mates have like 54238 accounts, but I refuse to get another account.
I train all skills for everything on my main. I don't care about making isk. I would much rather have fun with my friends.

I run 6 here. Yes, 6 accounts. 2 are paid RL cash, rest are ISK. I just make that much money, and its what makes the game fun for ME. I enjoy playing this way, it gives me something fun to think of and do. I'm even considering adding 2 more into it.
1 - Master miner/industry
2 - miners
1 - SUPER HAULER (gallente freighter 5!)
1 - NPC (mission) fighter
1 - pvp alt.
If I get the next 2, they will be miners as well. I <3 mining.

I account here as well,and the list of skills wich interest me,is gradually dropping at a nice rate these days,and there will soon be nothing mediocre about this particular char,but yes,it will have taken 4 1/2 years of training to get to that point(in december 2007,the 75 million skill point mark is hit)...

one i train up for mining, so when i get in an alliance in 0.0 i can start making some nice cash while i relax. :) the idea is to earn enugh to pay for one of the accounts ingame.

1 account and #2 for over-all Jack of All Trades. This is the only account I have ever had. I really did not have alts till I set up a High Sec POS for labs and then created two lab alts.

I have one account, though I'd be doing better with two. Multiple accounts seems to be the key to making ISK in EVE - having other trained characters than can trade in Empire, collect loot, etc. They're also useful as scouts in PvP. Unfortunately, lack of real life money is just a slight problem...

I got 2 accounts - this one is my main and the other has a character that has all the skills maxed needed to use viator and occator, he gets used to haul ore I mine in a battleship in low sec.
couldnt live with out him even if he dont get used all the time since i dont mine a whole lot.
It's just a game........Or is it?????

For over 18 months i had 1 account and happy but as the choice of skills get bigger i was forced to take skill dicisions that dont alow me to enjoy the game to its full.
I bought a Pvp orientated char on the sell forums and has made my game a great exerience, my main earns isk unmolested in empire while my second char has fun during peak times doing pvp, so in my case it has vastly improved my game, pvp char is paid for by main so doesent even cost me anymore than it did.
my main can now fit implants and learn alot faster with reduced chance of losing them.
