Didn't see this in the frequently suggested topic, so:
I'm sick and tired of switching ammo types by changing each gun or launcher individually. This is especially annoying when using Lasers as you change crystals often because of bad falloff. In the heat of battle its too easy to load the wrong ammo type and thus cost you a fight.
My suggestion is to have a submenu when you rightclick to change your ammo which says "Reload all with:" and then a list of all available ammo types that will fit that kind of turret or launcher (this way you can reload all small guns or all medium for example). If you don't have enough ammo to fill all your turrets or launchers then your ship should fill as many as it can until there is no more ammo.
Ingame implications would be that once you have made the tactical choice to change ammotypes, you don't then spend the rest of the fight actually performing the reload because of a mis-click. Missile users would be able to quickly select a damage type based on their target, projectiles and hybrids would be able to switch between long and close ranges, and lasers would be able to pick a crystal for their narrow optimal range.
I could ramble on...

I remember a time when guns didn't auto reload and you had to reload each of em individually.
It would be nice if we had a change ammo type for all though.

Yeah I did originally suggest this in the "Reload all" thread many moons ago. But it probably got lost in amongst all the other posts.
I'm sure everyone has thought of the above idea, its pretty common sense.

I still think this would be a brilliant thing to have in the game. Changing ammotype individually feels so clunky and unpolished.
Can we ever expect to see something like this implemented?

i was talking about this yesterday with a mate.
we decided in the end that instead of adding "change all to: x" to the right click menu on the guns, add a "load all" button on the right click of ammo piles.
therefore in combat, the enemy comes closer, you right click the Antimatter ammo in cargo, and select "laod all". 10s later, POW =)

I also came up with a good representation in my opinion of what it should look like. I think the menu system needs an upgrade to make it less words and more visual by using icons and colors. I also think the expanding/retracting of the menus could be refined to better represent information. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Were digressing from the simple reload all with x command, but a complete overhaul is badly needed to the cluttered reloading menu.
Your idea be a little too complicated in the middle of battle, although introducing icons and colours would help a lot of players I think.
Damage type for example could just be indicated by the icons for the damage types, no need to have it written. You could have the symbols for EMP EXP and KIN for projectile EMP ammo for example. or just EMP and THERM for crystals. But I think this would mostly benefit new players who dont know the damage types of their charges yet.
I think it would be useful to see what the range modifier on your ammunition is, or even what your optimal would be if you loaded it.
So for example:
Reload all with: Multifrequency L [10k] Standard L [20k]
But this would produce more server load as it would have to calculate the ranges. A simple reload all with ammotype is top of the list for me! ============================================

Make it a rightclick option for ammo stacks.
This would also work wonders in the fitting screen, especially when loading ammo with that rightclick option would also automatically unload all currently loaded ammo.
So you wouldn't have to drag&drop up to 8 ammo stacks from your guns into the hangar and up to 8 ammo stacks back into the guns. 2 clicks instead of 16 clicks and 16 times drag&drop.

These diagrams may helps more than any explanation. No need to overhaul interface - it already enough stupid to mess in battle.
Anyway most players use 2, max 3 types of charge, but ability to load all guns with same type of ammo in 2-3 clicks will be helpful in battle against great EVElags. -- . |

i would have to agree on this, although this could be a problem for amarr that use faction or t2 crystals since they don't stack like other ammo does since the server needs to keep track of which crystal is at what damage even if it is at the same.

But you should be able to swap ammo while the guns are firing. So it'll auto stop it and then swap the ammo.
Disengaging the module and then waiting until the red box is done blinking to reload gets annoying lol

Signed, although there should probably be a delay to simulate going through each turret in turn. If you don't have that delay then beam users are gaining quite a bit from it. Removing RSI is one thing but that one-by-one-by-one delay is a factor in beam combat and shouldn't just be dropped.

Ah but it's a factor in combat. You can't just drop that cycle-time delay as you will be affecting combat. Any change to menus or shortcuts needs to retain the mechanics of the items.
I'm all for making it easier to control the client but the timing of the modules needs to remain the same or else you're messing with balance. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I'm not sure they designed it to be slow.
Who gets most advantage from no delay? Amarr. Who needs a boost at the moment? Amarr.
Where the instant reload all for amarr is bad? There is also situations where you lag and can't click it as fast, if your opponent doesn't lag, you are disadvataged. Anyway, I reactivate my weapons as soon as they have changed ammo, so, there's no lost time this way, you can do same, everyone can, or we can just have this reload with no delay! -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !
