It has been brought to my attention that small space going vessels used for fast transportation purposes are unable to sustain offensive assaults for sustained periods of time.

Shuttles don't have any slots for mods, they can pop really easily due to the lack of any deccent way to deffend themselves, or take the damage dealt.

When you think of it, why trying to shoot at the shuttle, as everyone know, it's invicible, you have more chance of shooting down the fighters. Of course, I'm using the Pod of Doom for that.

It should be mentioned that shuttles don't have very good tanks, so you can probably just shoot at them.

This is a Shuttle. It is used to assign Templars, Amarrian fighter drones used by Carriers. They don't tank very well.

Ladies and gentlemen, we interupt the currently scheduled program for an urgent news break. An astonishing development has just occured in the realm of space warfare strategy. It has recently been reported that fighters can be assigned to shuttles providing a rather large bonus to the shuttles DPS because of the fighters. While commenting about how this may be an exploit due to the shuttles speed and signature radius, we have learned that this is actually a feature. According to our sources, the abiliy to greatly increase the firepower of the common shuttle is balanced by a rather weak tank. In tests just released, shuttles have been shown to be tanked just slightly better than a tin foil hat.
We now return you to your normally scheduled program.

This entry has nothing to do with with the OPs comments about faction fitted tank n gank shuttles! I'm fairly irritated with people spamming intstuctional threads with this kind of stuff

Hey guys,
Look, I haven't read the whole 5-6 pages of the thread so far. Will do once I get some more time. Anyways - in response to the OP regarding having fighters assigned to shuttles - I conducted an exhaustive study on the matter and these were my findings. I hope you find them helpful and insightful. Please read:
Shuttles apparently have fairly weak defensive capabilities that do not afford them a great amount of time in battles. They're shield/armor/hull regeneration attributes are somewhat limited in scope. Add to that their great misfortune of not being able to fit any modules to further bolster this already weak area and you have what's referred to in the EVE world as:
A weak tank.
In summation my study has concluded that:
Shuttles have a weak tank.

seems slightly off topic here, but /signed.
there is no logical reason for shuttles to be able to get a target lock, they cant mount modules, in fact, the only thing a shuttle can do with a target lock is be assigned fighters.
for the record, me and Awox are on opposing sides in-game. i have no reason to support him other than i think its a lame tactic.
and i believe Awox is aware that shuttles cant tank, and everyone who has spammed this thread with that rubbish should be the proud owner of a forum ban (if not a game ban for being such a jackass)

And you obviously haven't been here on the forums very long... 
And really, why use a shuttle for this when you can use a simple, cheap T1 frigate for the job? I mean, it's not like they tank well... Maybe if INFOD had a program like our Victory Rifters they could afford to use tactics like these?
