CCP has effectively cleaned up the streets of Empire by edging the gang warfare back into deep space. Those who favor the thrill of the chase now chase outside of Empire. Is there a lack of real estate to war within? Is not the greatest expanse of space not Empire? Are there too few pvp oriented players in this game that entertainment may only be found in unwilling participants? If that were true, then what would that say for pvp? What does a review of the demographic of Empire dwellers verses frontier dwellers indicate? It seems obvious to me, but what does it say to you? If there are vast numbers of pvp players, then does it matter that you are relegated to the wild frontiers whilst the city dwelling industrialists have about their day building and mining? War is never.. everywhere. If pvp is the dominate faction within this game then as that dominate majority one would think you would have ample opportunity to kill each other.. unless of course the odds against a mining ship are preferable to a war ship. If that is the case then what superiority is being demonstrated over ones ill equipped opponent? The new high price of war is reasonable. Consider what wars cost in the real world. The clever player will find opportunity in any circumstance. This new development can present opportunity if one but thinks about it. It would seem that the success of either side of the equation requires the success of both.

Nothing stopping the privateers from doing what they always did. They've just got to find a way to pay for it. No problem. If they can't pay all that isk, then they get to limit their wars. They have to be more selective and go after only the biggest, most active alliances. Their number of targets shouldn't drop too much if they go after the right alliances. Targetted alliances will probably limit their use of high sec for a while forcing the Privateers to cycle to a new target. The result is that alliances get a break every now and then until they increase the use of high sec and get re-war dec'd. That's all you could ask for: A break every now and then. Hopefully this puts an end to it.

Was a fun ride, the only thing that slightly irks me is how quickly the change seemed to happen once the forum whining started to spam. It was a fun experiment which certainly hasn't ended, just the funding was cut back. The whining on both sides right now is pretty amusing though, I don't see how any member of Privateers didn't see this coming (it was discussed enough on alliance chat). However the anti-privateers whining is equally pathetic, whining about people whining about people whining? Just let it end somewhere (Oh God now I've contributed to the circle).

Just all seems rather odd and disjointed if we are to accept that EVE actually has a storyline. ***
