Just so that the general public is aware of the next patch:

.....Privateers have been beaten with the nerf bat.....
Whiners 1, Players 0
(and we didnt even get dual wreck ownership lol, damned invunerable NPC corp hiding loot theifs)
We will try and keep you posted to any developments with the allaince as and when they happen.

You guys had it coming, and you know it 
The thing is, I've never thought Privateers were bad people or anything ridiculous like that for doing what they do. On the contrary, I've always been dead impressed by what you guys thought up- it was genius onna stick. But I honestly don't think CCP intended you to be able to do what you were doing; it was inevitable they were going to fix it eventually.
So be happy that you enjoyed yourselves for a few months, and probably given EVE's history another name that'll be remembered. Just don't turn yourselves into whiners about losing your toy

I have heard WOW has more of an edge to it than this game - I might give it a try....

A nerf was needed (this is coming from a privateer). The current system was off and a little bit too cheap. If my calculations arn't wrong though, for privateers to maintain 70 war decs per week it would cost 245billion isk. If privateers continues to exist we'll probably see something more like 10 wars at a time, which is still decent but kind of ruins the spice that privateers brought to empire for a while.
It is a shame though that CCP caved under the pressure of whining again, when I started seeing a new whine thread every time I checked the forum it was painfully obvious the nerf was coming soon and coming hard. Oh well three cheers for CCP and their capital ship combat game!

i never had a problem with privateers and to an extent thought that it was a nice change of gameplay, but nobody can say that this wasnt coming
you effectively turned highsec into lowsec for minimal fees, war declarations are tools of corporations and alliances to fight competitors/enemies in highsec, Privateers used it as a tool to get lots of targets in highsec
basically it was used in way it wasnt meant to be, if you didnt see this coming then you arent very smart or just plain in denial
it increases however the need of getting more ppl into lowsec

I find it hard to believe theres no middle ground.
One day "Alliance P" is a thriving alliance.
The next day the biggest nerf ever to Eve happens and "Alliance P" ceases to exist.
Doesn't seem right. Whoever made that decision deserves a gift basket of rotting fish.
