I didn't have to Google it, either... do I win a cookie? Or did I just date myself as being old enough to see the movie when it first came out and still remember that line from it? :)
Think you're old? I saw it in a drive in. I wonder how many of these kids even know what those are?
Meh. I saw Star Wars in the cinema and that was when I was at college. I was almost old enough to see Jaws when it was first released
Star Wars came out at the end of grade 7 for me, so you've got a few years on me. My very first drive-in theatre (I'm told by my parents) was the Beatles movie, Yellow Submarine, although I was just a babe at the time and have no recollection of it at all. The first drive-in movies I remember seeing were the Herbie (sp?) the Love Bug ones. Its a shame they've fallen out of fashion these days.

Where do you rat??? I'm lucky to make 1 or 2 mil TBH. Then again I am a pirate so I'm not particularly knowledgeable about ratting.

I am about 4 month char as well and I live in 0.0 making roughly 40mil in ratting several hours if I dont catch any faction spawns. And all I am ratting in is a Harbinger(battlecruiser). It would be even easier in a Drake. Living here also enables some PvP fun from time to time. By the time I was 1 month char I already had roughly 100mil networth(what I would get if I sold everything) and I was absolutely solo player. In a matter of weeks it jumped to 300mil+ networth only by trading modules(Jita->Amarr) and I could basically buy whatever I can fly and fit it out with the faction stuff out there. Had a navy Slicer for 0.2 ratting with total worth of about 100mil together with modules. And that's basically only because I could fly cruisers tops and found Amarr cruisers be sucky with Arbi as exception if good drone skills(which I didnt have).
So forget the missions unless you want to be hardcore mission runner, which I find to be rather opposite of the main goal of gaming - having fun. Go rat for money and spend that money for ships and go PvP. Or if you want to be a pirate, PvP could also become profitable in time(with skills). Or if you dont have good enough fighting skills yet, go trade some, if done right, it can bring huge profits...

Calling bull**** on this. You might get really lucky and get a nice faction spawn with 70m loot in it, but ordinarily it's a couple of mil an hour at best.

Honestly, if you don't mine (money in lowends currently), trade, build, or rat in lowsec or unsec, stick with lvl 3's.
A few runs for a low quality agent will soon give you acess to a high quality lvl 3 agent.
Also, check system security rating.
Running out of a 0.5 system will allmost double your profits compared to a 1.0.
If you can afford them, use the connection skills. If not, eben the freely avaiable social skills raise your rewards nicely.
Most important things in regards to missions is skill. Not of your character, but of you as a player. The better you know a mission, the faster you can run it usually. You'll know how to tank bets, whom to shoot first, and wich aggro to draw.. also, what risks you can take in your ship.

I havnt had cash trouble since I started, after a certain point it just became easier to get cash, more cash you have the easier it is to make it.
And I do ANYTHING for cash, pew pewin, manufacture, trading, salvage, can theivin , ransomin and looting. Just keep flyin round and your eyes open and dont restrict yourself and you'll see plenty of opertunitys, and most importantly go for teh quick easy buck

I've made 120 mil in 2 minutes ratting in 0.7 (I was actually mining and cleared some rats with my exhumer drones). 1 x Low-grade faction implant later... I was impressed since normally I don't even look in wrecks when I'm mining.

Its quite possible, ive made 30m/ hour before, and that was without looting. If you loot as well you can quite easily make a small fortune.

a lot of it depends on the rats in system.
some .0 systems have particularly crappy rats, whilst others drop millions of isk in bounties with every spawn.

that is because there is a secstatus below 0.0 for a system. actually the lowest is -1.0, even tho you won't be able to see it anywhere. and the lower the secstatus, the fatter the rats. its as easy as that explainable

yeah, i know.
But the lowest trusec areas (and thus the most profitable) are jealously guarded by big alliances, and just flying out to the nearest large -ve will probnably get you killed just as quickly as if you rock up and try mining in <large alliance>'s most prolific asteroid belts.
ofc you could cough up for ratting rights, but you'd be making about what you would in a crapper area, and bankrolling whoever has controls the system into the bargin.

European or African? Oh, wait. Well, let's see. The European Swallow has a body mass of 20g, and does roughly 15 beats a second with an amplitude of 0.22 meters (pr beat). Following Taylor et.al (2003), the speed of a flying animal is 3 times frequency times amplitude. 3*15*0.22* is roughly 10 meters pr second. Now for the coconut. The average cocnut weights 8 kilos. Cocunuts don't grow during winter in northern countries, indeed not at all. I suppose it all ends up in the following answer - "How did the coconut end up in Medieval England?".

You'd have had to find a couple of nice faction spawns for that.
The highest bounty on a rat in low sec (correct me if I'm wrong here) is... 250k for a BC? Maybe 300k for an elite cruiser.
Even killing 2 BCs a minute non stop (not possible - warping to belts, some belts without rats) - that's 30m isk an hour. And that is pushing it.
If you include loot you then have to factor in travel time to pick up the cans which is time away from ratting. And if you use a tractor beam that's 20% of your firepower gone straight away.
Faction spawns (BC or CR or FR) will not net you above 1m isk a kill. The only way you can make 70m isk in low sec an hour, ratting, in a caracal, would be a lot of faction spawns and a lot of nice loot.
Sorry, but I'm going to have to say you're exaggerating here.

Despite the fact that I know where the question originally comes from... He didn't say anything about Medieval, nor England, nor was how or why the coconut got there part of the question.
The airspeed of a coconut laden European Swallow is zero.

Have you considered 0.0? You're prolly only a month or two away from being able to take on bs rats. Bounties range from 500k to 1.8 mil. Each. You can chain the good spawns too, and then there's the salvage mats. If you do it right, bounties, loot, and salvage can easily add up to 30 mil an hour.
Getting out to and surviving in 0.0 is the trick. You can solo it, but it's tricky. Or you can join a corp and get some cover. That's really the best way to do it. And besides, we might be recruiting.
Other than 0.0, I hear the lvl 4 missions pay really well with the LP rewards. Don't really know myself as I've never even flown a lvl 3 mission. Then there's the whole manufacturing and trading side of the game, where you can make 100's of millions of isk just logging in a for a 10-15 minutes each day and sitting at a station or auto-piloting your alt.

There are direct ways to make isks. These are ways in which you effectively trade time, for money.
Mining Mission running NPCing Complex running Exploration Hauling (and hauling missions)
These vary in lucrativeness, but ... well, it's more important iMO to figure out something that doesn't bore you mindless (Mining bores me, some like it)
Then, there's indirect ways of making cash. These are more a question of 'working what you've got' than of isk/hour.
These include trading, manufacturing, research. In essence, you're doing things that take relatively little time to 'set up' but require other things instead.
For example, manufacturing, you need to buy in minerals, start the construction job, and come back later.
Indirect isk generation is better in terms of isks/hour. Simply because there's less time going in. However it also tends to be somewhat more complicated - you have to have some idea of market trends to make a profit trading, and industry requires some skills, and 'somehow' procurement of minerals and reselling of stuff.
Then again, there's people who make isks in entirely creative and innovative ways. THere's a lot of people who pay 'laziness tax' on stuff they buy, because they can't be bothered to fly 6 jumps for a few mil.
I've seen people making money for being entertaining in local. I've seen people helping out on mission for a cut, by salvaging, recovering the goods (makeing the mission go faster).
The direct isk generation, there's a definite correlation between risk and reward. Really good bits of 0.0 are worth a lot. Lowsec ratting is profitable. However the tradeoff is, of course, that people can, and will shoot you.
At the end of the day, you get to choose.
Incidentally, in case you weren't aware, missions give more rewards and LPs the lower the sec level, and the higher the agent quality. It's profitable to run missions out in lowsec, but of course it's also dangerous. Take your choice.

Trading and investing.
Swing by the market forums sometime and you'll see people issueing IPO's valued at over 50 billion, Bonds being issued for a total of 6 billion. Returns averaging 5% to 10% or even higher (even with principle returned upon maturity). There are publicly traded companies with enormous amounts of wealth....wealth all gained by investors and lenders who finance massive businesses.
Traders themselves can turn over a billion in profits per week with only a few hours each day. The risks in some cases can be zero (by trading an entire region from a single station and assuming that region has decent volumes).
Ask a good trader how much he makes a week and you'll hear 500 mil to 1 billion as a common response. It's hard for a decent trader to make less than that if they have half a mind to be successful.
But don't take my word for it, go ask over in the market forums.

Oo, and a few words for the op. Start doing lvl 4s in 0.1 or 0.0 systems. Thats where the iskies are. Find a good level 3 agent and the money shouldn't be bad. My own fortune ain't much, but I have a semi large fleet by now :-P The reason I ain't doing level 4 is due to skills. I'm close to 10M SP, but I'll wait a bit more.
The best way so far for me is to grind the level 3 missions. After every 16th mission you get a story line mission and these grant me +3 implants. Get all 5 and sell them in a contract...that should earn you a decent amount of money.
Another soloution is low security grinding. I trained Interceptors a long time ago and they are excellent for those zones and you can easily pick on BC rats without getting hits. You might be lucky to find faction spawns and depending on luck, then they can drop good items. I've had EAN items and blueprints from faction spawns, which have a good value on the market. --- Currently flying a PvE geared Crusader and Prophecy |

You can indeed make 70 mil an hour in 0.0 ratting. but you will have to chain the whole system and have 30 belts at least and not waste time with loot. now this can be doen but not with a flipping cara it cant as teh dps is to low and the cruisers and intys will scrm and kill you. Now if u found a dark blood spawn or similer counterpart then u might kill it after a while warping abck and to and have good loot. or you ratted with someone else in there bs and you helped with teh flys :) Your signature is too large.
