A lot of the names for 0.0 have hidden meanings. Sometimes humorous, sometimes cute but they're usually make you laugh "at least a little on the inside". Post some of your favorite system names like JB-007 ^^. I wanna see what kind of hidden meanings, and dev humor we have in the system names.

i'm sure there's a system with something like PWN in the name, but it's actually a 0.0 mining hub where we used to kill loads of miners all the time which made its name even better, i can't remember how it's spelt though i just remember laughing at it because of it's name and what we do there.

I'm surprised noone has mention the 2 amarrians systems called Hilmar and Soumi.
Hilmar is not only a system but also the firstname of CCP's CEO( at least he was before the merger with white wolf). That can't be a coincidence.
And Soumi is almost the same as the Finnish word for Finland( Suomi), don't think that's a coincidence either.

Now this is one that you will have to look for in space.
When you pan your camera around you'll notice the nebula that seems to run in a ring around space. Now theres 2 or 3 different back grounds in eve its only the colour that seems to change.
on one of these background nebulas above the horizonatl plnae and not below there is a dark shape poking out from one of them.
its the shape of a drooping nob. great, still makes me laugh when i pan my camera past it

I always kept an interceptor around for when I made a quick trip to Hek and back.
The ship name was "handbasket"

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but it's not. Antimateria (or antiaine [anti = anti, aine = matter) would be antimatter in Finnish. "Antiaine" is not used at all. Antiainen is formed correctly be the finnish grammar regulations but it's a nonword. If one would try to give it a meaning, it would sound a bit like a finnish family name.

For the non-finns, here's a few funny agent names. I'm still pondering whether or not these were intentional or not. As most names of caldari origin, they are finnish nonwords. They seem to be randomly generated, thus there are few actual finnish words in the game. For example, these two caldari agents:

I'm sorry, but I'm Finnish. But, just to be sure, I did check both the finnish dictionary and the etymological dictionary. Sadly, they are not available online.
Kakka translates best to mean "children's fece s" in english. The etymological dictionary claims that the word might originate from russian. A similar word exists in, for example, latin: "cacare". It would seem plausible that the latin word might be behind the spanish version of the word.

I am finnish and i can confirm that the word "kakka" is used as "poo". It's something children might say because adults tend to use the harsher versions of "poo"

There's a fun system named "heydieles" or "Hey, Die less!" It is indeed low sec and frequented by pirates. Great name for a system.

Hilmar is indeed the current CEO, the merger with White Wolf has not changed that. Is the system named in his honor? I do not have an answer to that question, but I doubt it is something he did.

//edit: "kaka" would translate to "****" in Estonian; the pronunciation should however be identical to Finnish.
There's a system called Ihakana in The Forge.. as "iha" is lust and "kana" is chicken (Estonian), this would be a system called Lust Chicken :)

Kakka translates best to mean "children's fece s" in english. The etymological dictionary claims that the word might originate from russian. A similar word exists in, for example, latin: "cacare". It would seem plausible that the latin word might be behind the spanish version of the word.
O.K. here is the problem.
When you say something means "x in english", that means that the word when used in english, has the meaning x.
So i would say "caca means poo in english"
You are trying to say "kakka means poo in finnish" or "kakka when translated to english, would be poo"

Well... Hardware Abstraction Layer is actually a perfect name for what it does, so its probably not intentional. Microsoft have no humor.

In The Citadel, there is a system called Sankkasen. Used to be the HQ for my former corp, so I spent a lot of time there. when pronounced, it sounds a bit like Sandkassen, which is a danish word meaning The Sandbox. So we quickly ended up calling it The Box.
Not an overly fun system name, but it holds a meaning for a few of us
