Just interested to know what the current MOTD is referring to: Are you saying " anyone caught buying / selling isk from this point on will be banned via the EULA " or " we have just banned a load of people for buying / selling isk and you have been warned! "
Maybe something is being done about the macro miners selling isk on ebay etc.. finally! fix it dont nerf it. |

As you say sounds like a pre-emptive.

I find it kinda funny that they put something like that in the MOTD yet they continue to make and encourage GTC selling with the new secure system

This, of course, only holds true when you fail to consider that isk farmers selling isk for money introduce more isk to the economy, versus GTC sales that both pays CCP and only relocates ISK from one player to another ------------------------------------------------ there used to be a cool killboard signature here, but someone at CCP got angry at a 1000 extra bytes |

Athena, you beat me to the punch, I was going to start a thread about the MotD.
As for your question, some of the former, some of the latter.
In regards to the comments about ISK for GTCs for Cash, we are putting the final touches on a billing solution that will replace the ISK/GTC/Cash system. Game time for ISK will no longer be a supported option and phased out.

I know some of it had to do with players in some areas of the world unable to use normal banking mechanisms. Glad to see that a fix is in the works.
Unfortunately any solution that kills the ISK for game time will also reduce the game population by eliminating those who can't afford to keep their extra accounts open, and the younger set who were depending on GTC for ISK because their parents won't pay for the game.
But then I suppose that decisions on what most negatively affects the game must be what is acted upon.

That's actually quite sad.
The number of people I know that keep playing just because they can trade some of their ISK for gametime is not negligible... for instance, people with heavy ISK reserves but not a lot of "online time" lately. Less people with active accounts means less money for CCP, no matter how you put it, so where's the benefit for CCP ?
As for ISK farmers, they're certainly not interested in gametime (and no, I don't mean necessarily game time codes, just actual gametime), they're only interested in real life money. If you enforce a "GTC sales only through secure trade system" rule, there's no way ISK farmers could benefit from GTC trades at all.
I'm sorry to say this, but I fail to see any benefits whatsoever, and I do see some drawbacks. So, what's the point ? _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

I think that the point is to stop the concentration of ISK in the hands of those with lots of spare cash, and to prevent alliances from stockpiling massive resources by selling GTCs for ISK. Instead, the value of members will be directly determined by their in-game time contributions.

Some clarification is in order, I left out some important parts of the system.
Game Time for ISK will still be a legit transaction, but a transaction that will take place within Account Management. There will not be a middleman purchasing GTCs for resale for ISK.
As with any major change, there will be unhappiness and some members of the community will go on to another game. That is unavoidable, but the change being worked on is for the greater good of the community.

Now that's a slightly different particle spin...
So you eliminate the avenue for ISKies for cash, and leave in place the avenue for gametime bought with ISK.
Instead of an ISK transfer, it becomes a pure ISK sink.
Nifty.

If they want to waste their real-life money so that me or my friends can give them fictional money we would have no use for anyway if we ceased subscription time... I don't see a problem.
They'd get those ISK from somewhere else anyway if GTCs could no longer be officially traded for ISK. And it would be actually much worse that other way around, lining some sweatshop farmer's pockets. Just because RMT is against the EULA and some people are punished for it, you don't have to be so naive and assume all RMTs are caught and punished. _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

You mean, as in "Sell X days of my current remaining gametime for Y ISK to character Z" ? Or do you mean simply "Buy 30 days gametime with 150.000.000,00 ISK" ? _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

How I read it: You buy game time for ISK but you can't covert GTCs to ISK.
Now that will be a kick ass ISK sink.

It is nice to see CCP rather have a sane in-game economy than some extra $$ tbh.

Isk selling helps someone in want & further still in greed as none of it's routed through the community beneficially.

Maybe like a GTC resovoir, or bank, people buy time, sell to ccp for isk and ccp look after it through account management. GTC for isk will still be available until the current stock of 'iskified' timecodes run out? Maybe

Banning ISK sellers is great. But due to CCP's past bias towards one alliance over all others, I can't help to think that there is a bias in which accounts were banned. We know in the past that CCP didn't ban a player who posted personal info public in one case but did in others.
If CCP didn't play favorites, great. But ISK selling will only get worse until static 10/10's and T2 BPOs are removed from the game.

All that really happened is that your GTC trading got nerfed as people will buy game time directly from CCP for their ISK.
