I've got a bit of a question. So I'm quitting eve but what I want to do is sell my character and have a corpmate be the receiver of the isk but since I'm just flat out quitting the game and have used in-game-time-cards (GTCs) is it possible or is there a way that I could just hand over the account and be done with the whole ordeal or how do I/how would I go about this process? Or do I still have to pay for a character transfer and then completely deactivate my account? Much appreciated if you could assist me with your timely response. Fly safe and have fun.

Yes it is illegal. You are to be the sole possessor of the account. Now the person can create a new account and you can pay $20 per character to be transferd to their new account. That is the only way around this and if CCP catches someone with your account it will be banned.

Is it out of the question to create a post where I offer to pay for a toon over a period of time?
Run the thead like an IPO in the Market Discussion forum. Where I offer a certain ammount of isk over time and keep track of payment in the thread to provide accountability and to better insure that the isk is paid in full.
I know that this is really risky, but I would use my main and everone would know that name of the character thus a link to my account and the names of the toons would be accounted for.
There may be holes in this that I do not see at this point, but that is why I asked before I posted.

If I sell my alt which is on another account, can I receive the isk to this account or must the isk be transferred to a character on the same account? I am planning to run my second account to the edge of its subscription before selling it, and transfering ISK between the two would be impossible as subscription would be out (therefore would not be able to run to end of subscription, leaving wasted time and money).

It appears that, should I decide to leave the game, there is no way for me to convert my toon into cash. I can sell it for zillions of isk but, of course, that will do me no good if I leave the game.
If this is the case, why are there businesses that have professional websites and offer an inventory of toons for cash? Seems to me it is a decent little cottage industry yet prevented on an indivudual basis. Can someone explain it to me please? How do these companies so openly sell toons for cash?
Conversely, I thought about acquiring a pure miner a few months back but didn't have the isk and thought paying cash was against the rules. I didn't go ahead since the idea of trying to generate a few billion isk via GTC's seems like it was more trouble than it was worth.
So, am I correct in my assumption that a player in EVE cannot convert anything he possesses, be it isk, toons or what have you.. for real world cash and, as a result this game is a one way street for our capital? Thanks

Actually, I am interested in an answer to this too. I have been thinking of buying a character for a while now, but have _no_ way in-game to generate enough ISK for a pure ISK character buy. I would love to be able to buy a character for RL money, but this thread makes it pretty clear that's not a legal option.
So Crokite Laserman here is as much stuck as I am, which is a bit sad.
I would love an official CCP-handled character trade system where you could choose to buy them for ISK or real money. It would even profit CCP, and frankly I don't see the harm in players getting a small compensation when selling their characters.
But then I may not be seeing the full picture here, just thinking of what I would like to see. |

Yayyyy, CCP (big brother) will protect us all whether we want it or not. Down with common sense and up with micromanaging the minutia of life. Protect the stupid and screw the common man. For heavens sake do not allow people the freedom to choose a possibly poor decision, lets take it out of thier hands so that life is happy, risk free, and blissful in a 1984 way.
And the EMO's will inherit the earth............

im just curious cuz im not quite getting how the char xfers work. when selling a char,
1. when selling, it says transfer to: what do you type in the box the 'account name' of the buyer or the char name of the buyer who sent you the isk?
2. when buying, how do you know when you send isk to the recieving char they named, they wont take your isk? is there a protection againt this in game somewhere. i read the stickies in the forum but i found no info that clearly states anything unless i tottaly missed it.
i get how to sell game cards but buying/selling chars seems different & unsafe? plz if anyone can point me in the right direction id aprecite itmuchly.

I'm not going to read every post here to see if it's been said already.
Can we make sure the character being sold is in secure space (highsec or lowsec depending on their sec status) and not in 0.0 alliance held space.
I can imagine screams of "scammer!" if the buyer tries to undock and head to secure space and gets popped.
