You may have experienced lag or other problems on Tranquility today. This is caused by hardware problems, resulting in node deaths. We're working hard to resolve this.
We also have some good news however, our ISP has now finished some maintenance, which should have resolved the packet loss issue.

I doubt it, at least I haven't heard that it would. You know how it goes, if I say a definate no it will take two minutes until I get an email saying the patch is postponed.

 Strange that CCP knows about the lag, but will not reimburse lag related deaths like me trying to jump through a gate and not being able to (Session change already in progress), and end up getting blown to bits with a full set of expensive goodies. I didn't know that warp to 0 was THAT dangerous. I better start raking in the ISK on playerwrecks that were lagg0rd to death like Callthetruth does. Lag reports in advance FTW

I had the same experience where total lag caused both my ship and pod to be wasted.
Simple answer to my petition was : We find no fault in the server logs.
Yet all over they state "we have some serious lag issues" but, in accordance with game policies, lag isn't considered a bug, even when it is clearly stated as being on their end the problem persists.
Kinda like real life: Sorry the plane was 6 hours delayed, we had some maintenance problems, but look on the bright side, at least you got here, too bad you missed your heart transplant. :P

yea, lag, outch. ice pirate steals ice in a frig to annoy, i start to pop him with hammerheads, np. I get kicked mid fight, I relog to find i am "14th in que to enter game" I finnaly get back in to find my t2 mack in gone and to catch great local about my mom,eve,my stupidity,my corp,and my inabilty to play from this pirate. BUT on the bright side *sarcasem* the insurace pay out was around 12m for my t2 fitted mack lol

im getting the same message, it doesnt seem to want to let me download the new patch. i can for sisi, but then it says that i wont be able to play on tranq anymore. its the 'incompatible (build)' message where it says server status.

What's odd is that my client shows me using version 3.14.31460...and the current version info on the website shows that as the current version, yet I'm getting Incompatible (Build).

don't forget that if you are in the UK it is GMT + 1 (British summer time) Your comp' will say 1400 but it is 1300 GMT.

even in GMT +2 i am in its already beyond the GMT 14:00 allready. but to add something new to this if you look closely TQ is stuck on checking status when switching from test server to TQ so ... patch aint ready yet.

I just patched my system, and the server isn't accepting connections yet. Still 45 minutes for sure...besides, any network outage sometimes goes over allotted time...

Kieron, I get the same complaints from people at work when we patch, upgrade, or install applications or servers or routers at work.
People today have little idea what it takes to do a software release, or a hardware upgrade. Or how iffy it can all be, regardless of how well you plan and execute it.
From what I can tell, CCP does a pretty good job.
I think that people also forget the days when it would be impossible to have 30,000 simultaneous users on any system at all.
I think you've been spoiling them.

They do know about lag. But you know about it too; if you're going to do a now-known risky behavior -- like undocking or system-jumping -- whose fault is that?
If I log in at all while known problems are occurring, it's usually to sit in station and check markets or change a skill.

hi I can not even get to the down loads fro the patchs or the client right now with us haveing to pay to play we should have alot better service then waht we have.I trid to click on the secion for the dl but nothing happens it will not even open up to the page that has the client or the patchs so that I could dl it

I have tried numerous times to download a new client to no avail so far after at least 4 attempts now on my 5th that prob'ly won't work as well...got over 90% of the last one before it kinked out on me...thought I had an issue as my login didn't come up an hour after patch was to have been done so I decided to do a new client big mistake...thank the gods for long skill settings I suppose.

near as I can tell there is no patch out there to be had....I thought I had it earlier today but it had yet to be put out I think...the one I had being last months....my log in went away so I thought I had an issue with my client which I deleated and tried to download a new one...doh! best I come up with is 2 kb short of a full download atm...and I have given up trying for now....nice of CCP to keep us so updated on what is going on.

Ok maybe it was just me but I before I logged off last night I had a a skill Training. It was to be finished sometime this evening. This afternoon after installing the patch (worked flawlessly) I logged in and went to go turn off the skill to Clone Jump and low and behold I'm back to 1 day and 6 hours. (where I was last night). WTF?? Yes I opened a petition. (No I didn't turn) it off last night. (I even Check Evemon early before Down time and I had 13 hours to go )

Well I just got a call from the repair shop today. Seems my laptops motherboard has released the magic smoke. From what I gather smoke is an integral component to all modern electronics. Once you release the magic smoke it'll never work again. Maybe the hampsters have been trying to release the magic smoke at CCP's hosting site.

well i have to agree with the tital. if your in motsu or saila area and you lose a ship to lag and we all know there is lag there, dont expect to get your ship back. as i was told by a gm on a petition i sent in " if you chose to do combat missions when there is heavy server load then do so at your own risk " so i was told they will not be replaceing loses in that area becouse of lag. its bull crap that those systems in that area have the lag they do when there is less lag in jita.
Yep complete and utter BS .... Seems in that area its always 100+ people. Its always CCP looking to blame everyone else but themself

Motsu & Saila has the highest quality of lvl4 Caldari navy agents in the game. and you can imagine how many rats would be in those missions.
shouldnt ccp just put them in a separate node from the other citadel systems. or simply move those agents around so that all of us dont cluster at the same system all the time.
I am kinda got used to the drone lag and module lag. lately i m getting chat window lag!
I mean this is simply unacceptable!

I feel the need to point out that there ARE in fact other level 4 agents that give missions for Caldari Navy, and in fact there are entire other corporations that also give level 4 combat missions.
My point is simple...if you don't like the Motsu lag, move. I did.

Lag has always been there CCP Wrangler. It has gotten far worse from what it used to be. Lvl 4 missions are now a pain when screen freezes due to lag...not to mention Mordu, Jita, Drone Regions, etc, etc. Is it my imagination or does it get a tad worse after every patch? I mean literally a patch is breaking code and replacing it to break another part of code that you are not aware of until it breaks...The more lines of code the more bugs. Hardware issues?? Isn't there a redundancy system in place to offset primary node deaths?
Too many players CCP and not enough contingency plans in place. You will hemorrage players soon enough... I reckon you experienced some bleeding already.

I can appreciate the "it's not really broken, don't f*ck with it" approach, even if I don't think this is necessarily the case. Appreciate what we do have, or move on.

They gave plenty of warning about the emergency reboot. If you didn't head for station, that's your own tough luck.
If your Toon is old enough to have a Hulk, then you've been playing long enough to know better than to go AFK on patch day.

yeah.. it sucks, some pirates kill my ship in the middle of an important story line mission and I think I'm floating out there in a pod right now, if I'm lucky. No time bonus for me, if it's still possible to complete the mission if I didn't lose my cargo.. argh, one way or another I'm thinking it's gone. I just hope this downtime is effecting those pirates as much as it is ruining my second last night to try to make enough ISK to trade in for a time card so I can keep playing another month.. (Sorry I'm a little peeved at the moment.. rant over)

But, do any of you understand what goes into running a game; especially on such a scale? Are any of you programmers? Cut these guys some slack, and go outside for a change.

It's possible that the game is down partly from the high lag causing losses. It's easier to shut the whole thing down, spend an hour or hard work fixing it then start it back up. People could be losing billions from it.
It's good news about the ISP however and I am sure in a few hours everything will be running smoothly.. Well.. Apart from Jita.

I have a question, how far, if at all, will reimbursements go due to this situation? I know more than a few peoplehave lost ships, I personally havn't be able to switch my skill for a good 3 hours or so, what about mission bonuses, etc. (I would be extremely angry if i was running cosmos and lost out on a +4 implant or a med nos bpc or something...)

This is almost as bad as VSOH. The startup on that was terrible. Crashed every hour. I left that MMORPG. All hype, lousy game.
DDO was good. I outgrew it fast. Maxed out in 2 months with low-moderate play. Plus DDO really isn't an MMORPG. The social was great, however.
Hopefully this online experience will be the one...

Actually I am programmer. Yes it does take a lot to maintain an application like this, however, as a programmer I know that I am being paid to do a job and if I don't complete it as expected than you sure bet someone is gonna be upset and they have a right to be. Now if there was a problem say once every 2-3 weeks then it is forgiveable, however the issues with this game are starting to get as bad as WoW each and every day.

This is becoming a more common occurrence then not, then on top of that weekends are unplayable... CCP when is this going to end. IF not just let me know, i'll be more then happy to spend my money else where on a PC game. Adding/working on nice new features is great, but the very server we play on is unstable is clearly unacceptable, IMO you need to focus on that before you start adding anything else.
I bet if you had a poll .. More new features Vs less laggy stable game play, would not take a genius to know whats going to have the higher vote

No this isn't normal. Like any game, some times a patch breaks things the programmers didn't anticipate. They will have it fixed eventually. Until then don't worry about losing ships, its just a game. Its a game that is heavy PVP, your going to lose ships, thats just the nature of the game. You lose them, I sell you new ones, easy enough.

My apologies, I did not mean to imply that Eve is as bad, or even close to being as bad as WoW, what I meant was that I just see more and more of the same issues popping up now that I did through the 2 years I played WoW. When I started WoW there were no login queues. Then a little less than a year later I would have to come home, login, go cook dinner, take a shower, and then go back and wait a few more minutes to be at the character selection screen

Now, really, how many people out there even use Eve-Voice? Okay, that's kinda besides the point. I agree, though, with the poster above: I'd prefer a stable Eve over all the frills that not everyone uses, but the whole cluster has to suffer for.

In the first 4 weeks of playing this game, it's had about 8 unplanned downtimes. And I play casually, no more than 10 hours a week.
I'm starting to think about stopping my sub, I love this game, but I don't pay for something that's always screwing up.

this always happens post patch i been on the game 2 1/2 years its always the same for a couple of days if your in a hulk u should know this
to many bells and whisltes like eve voice no-one wants i agree but someone must have thought it was a good idea sometime

what irks me the most is how often this happens, and how often it is blamed on "hardware issues". giving a conservative estimate, ccp rakes in nearly half a million dollars every month in subscription fees (14.95 x 30k people logged in that i saw today) Now i dont claim to be a mathmatical genius, but I do know what it costs to go to a run of the mill electronics store and get "hardware" Seems to me that our subscription fees might be going to all the wrong places......

I think being less than a month old to the game i may not have the right ideal about it. But i will say this if i am going to pay $15 a month for a game to be riddled with bugs lag downtimes and a load of other problems i have faced including player killers just because thay were board i can find better things to do with my money if the issue is not stabilized and solved.

I agree that it would be nice to get the game smoothed out before adding bells and whistles. Regardless of how long anyone has played this game it's hard to argue that the down time seems a little excessive.

Hey, if you're stupid enough to take a NIR out on a patch day when you can feel the lag OOZING off the undock sequence, then you deserve to lose it tbh. And if you lose it to a player, a gate camp, whatever PvP then the person shooting you risked JUST as much lag.
Shut up, stop crying. Find another way to entertain yourselves untill things are working here.

ok if your so smart you would of read the other dev post that told you that the problems that the game is haveing for the last 3 days are not do to any patch. its do to server problems. the dev posted already tonight that the first time the server poped was because of the database server getting stuck at 100% cpu. so read the post be for you tell others what to do.

Well, I'm a programmer myself... patch days may be rough...
But, this being a commercial project, payed for play time, I'd expect a re-fund, in the form of extending everyone's registrations by the amount of time lost.
This will instantly quiet all the discontent, everyone will be happy...

I rememmember when i first started playing, it was pre bloodlines, anyone remember that fiasco of a patch? it was a nightmare for awhile, but i was new, and the game itself was great so i over looked it.
However There has been a steady decline of performence since then. The unscheduled downtimes and bugs have increased, in my opinion, dramatically. Even with the great " hardware" upgrades.
I will admit that other then eve ive only played two other mmo's but neither of them have had the problems eve has been having regarding stability.
Im not complaining, just making observations, i have a character that has research done, and a skill to swap ( i changed to a shorter skill because everything " seemed" fine earlier. and thats the nature of the beast.
It will be interesting to see what is done regarding reimbursment of loss to those who have lost in game assets.
Lets just hope ccp gets it in gear, i have more then one account, and at this point( for various reasons), i am considering closing some of them and going to play other games when this one is down, or the server is frying ;)

I think it's funny. When something goes wrong everyone and their pup comes out of the woodwork and starts complaining, but when something good happens nobody says anything. I personally was happy about the changes to nano's.
I'm sure that most of you have played mmo's before and you should know that patch day is always a pain. Unforseen things happen, and the dev's scramble to fix the problems. Games have their problems and dev's try to fix them, some last for years, some don't. Just remember that things that you want changed, not everyone wants it to change with you. Dev's have a horrible job of trying to pointpoint the problems and get them corrected to make the masses happy. (the masses are not just you)
For all you folks that want to leave because you can't stand it, I say go. I'm tired of hearing it over and over from alts.

agreed, to be honest I'd like to thank the guys at CCP for all their hard work trying to get the servers up and running :). Some times getting another server doesn't quite fit into a business's budget. But until its up I'll just read my book.

Yes that is sometimes true, but it also depends on the flaw. If you buy a pair of blue jeans, and later you realize that it's not quite "blue" enough and you try to return it, it's you own fault for getting it in the first place and you look like a fool. Your complaining will not make the designer to make the fabric more blue just because you don't like it. Now if everyone believes that, then the designer will consider the issue taking into consideration cost of making the change. (recall/manufacturing product/etc)
Software is never "perfect" and people need to remember that instead of complaining at the drop of a hat or something does not go your way.

I'm an MMO Vet. Hell....I started back in the day on UO: 2nd Age. Been around the block a couple thousand times. So, let me just re-iterate a few points for either those of you who are playing an MMO for the first time, or for those of you who are just snot-nosed narcassists......
1.) Things like this will happen.....A LOT. Just a fact of life. Programs don't write themselves, and bugs happen. Programming is 1% idea and 99% trial and error. Learn to cope.
2.) Please, for the love of God, STOP WHINING ABOUT COMPENSATION. You lost a ship....you lost a jetcan full of crapite in the belt....get over it. It's a game...you're going to loose things. I played SWG, and I hope CCP never goes down the compensation road. I spent more time getting Double XP then regular, and in the end, SOE saw compensation as their "free pass" to do whatever the hell they wanted. I'd rather not see CCP go that same way. So learn to cope.
3.) There's nothing wrong with CCP's "hardware" aside from normal wear and tear. They have the largest and most sophisticated serverset in the gaming universe. It's not "bargain basement parts from Best Buy" as I saw someone so unelloquently put it; it's a massive interlinked system that at any given time can potentially have between 50 and 70 thousand connections (yeah that's right...that many...you people who constantly keep a forum page minimized, you know who you are.) When someone finds a hardware manufacturer who can make components that will take that kind of abuse with 100% reliability 23 hours a day, let me know.....I need to buy some stock.......
4.) Stop complaning about how much we pay CCP a month....who cares if they make half a million dollars a month off us; are you accountants? Have you ever had to pay a programmer? They don't come cheap. Looked at your power bill lately for keeping your gaming machine running 24 hours a day? Feed a server. Think your cable internet bill is too high? Try paying for a backbone heavy enough to keep the lag down so 40 thousand people don't **** and moan at you. And heaven help you if they have a problem, because then you're going to catch hell for not buying your ISP service from GOD UNLIMITED, where the download and upload speeds are unlimited and absolutely free because the hand of the Divine delivers all packets directly!!! Start thinking hard about it, then be thankful it's not $25 a month. And learn to cope.
And now, for CCP's side of the blame.
Oh illustrious CCP-Gods, may we question your wisdom in the creation of EVE-Voice? Sure it may sound nifty, but is it necessary? Most every corp or alliance who is anyone (or wants to be anyone) has their own Vent/TS server already in place. Is it all that wise an idea to integrate it onto a server that is already growing at an alarming rate? Couldn't those resources be put to a better use than a service most people have already provided for themselves? I've seen recent posts of Devs kicking around ideas to "reduce server-load" up to and including doing away with asteroid belts. Insofar as I know, no one has ever said they despise the exsistence of asteroid belts, so why eliminate a tried and true section of the game mechanic? To free up server resources for a system no one really wants or needs? Is that really a good idea?
So....in summation I say again:
Grow up.
Learn to cope.
Stop whining about things you know nothing about and that other people have no control over.
And have a nice day.

vI'm on day 11 of my trial, and this is the first time I've EVER had a log-in problem ... and I have been playing 4-10 hours per day at different times ranging from early morning to early morning -- unless this is a long term thing, I don't see any reason at all for this outage to change my mind about subscribing when my trial is over
For the people who are going to walk away from EVE based on this one outage, you are making the right decision, because you definitely not be happy with any game, or other computer program in your life ... in fact, you will be much better off moving to a cave in the far off mountains of Tibet where you won't ever have to be exposed to any technology thatÆs more sophisticated than a pencil - it's the only way for you, really.
The only people I can see with an honest to goodness reason complaint about this are the people that have never played an online game, or a game that has patches in it ever before ... I mean, c'mon ... EVERY online game goes through this, and many games are horrendous around new patches ... I've played games that (I won't mention which game) that were literally unplayable for close to 2 weeks after a patch (thanks for that EA) - and it should be expected every once in a while that there is some down time, especially when updates are being done
Now for the new people who haven't ever played an online game - this is really how it ALL works ... there will always be players trying to exploit the game, and trying just about everything possible in the game, which makes even the smallest bugs come out - things that might not ever even be seen by the average player if it was a 1 player game ... and all of this makes it necessary to occasionally patch the game ... it will never end, and there will always be ways to improve and add onto the game - so it isn't something that only happens once or twice ... don't let something like this forge your opinion of this, or any other online games - it's a fact of life
I don't know all that much about this company that does EVE, but having scheduled downtime every day sounds like an EXCELLENT idea to prevent a lot of the problems that are common to online games
And as far as having hardware issues, and the comments about how much they make from this game, the two things don't really have that much to do with each other (and also, good for them for getting rich from this game - it's deserved!) ... no matter how well you are set up, there are always going to be issues that come up ... no matter how much you spend on your car, and no matter how well you maintain it, you are still likely to have car trouble at some point
I know that a lot of players on here have played several other online games, so I'm sure that you know that I'm telling the truth here when I say that EVE is way ahead of the pack as far as game problems
Of course it sucks that we can't play right now, but I'm glad that I know why it's down ... and that I'm not the only one with connection issues right now
Yes, this IS the worst game in history, except for every other game.

When patch day rolls around....I ALWAYS set a long skill training (at least 2 days). That gives CCP time to sort out any problems such as replacing the hamsters, etc.
This gave me time to go out and work in my garden a bit and just generally enjoy the outside even tho its after midnite here.
Lets give Kudos to the CCP team for working so hard on satisfying all the whiners that dont have a life.
Once again, thanks guys...the weeds were getting out of control in my garden. LOL.

CCP should make so you cant alt tab.In Final Fantasy Online one cant alt tab and the game is just as fun.
This will help make the game much more stable since most wont bother looking for a way around not being able to alttab.

When someone finds a hardware manufacturer who can make components that will take that kind of abuse with 100% reliability 23 hours a day, let me know.....I need to buy some stock.......
Right on. I've been playing mmo's for a long time myself and not one of them is 100% free of problems 100% of the time. Be amazed and thankful so many users can connect to eve with minimal lag. I bet SOE wishes they could pull that off. I was worried it was my computer playing games with me again when I started eve and it told me their were corrupt files. I'm just glad it's not my computer, and just a NORMAL EVENT WITH ANY MMO! Oh and Onnawa, I agree compleatly with you about the compensation bit with SOE. Once was nice, twice was okay, by the third time I was saying enough.
About the eve voice, which problems I was not aware of, I hope to god they don't do away with asteroid belts to keep it... I'm mainly a miner and... I wonder what I would mine..... Anyway people, they'll get it working when they get it working. It takes time to sort through what's working and what's not. I'm missing playing right now, but such is life. Nothing works all the time, if it did... I wouldn't have had to pay so much to have my 360 repaired 1 year to the day after purchase, but again such is life.

what i'ld like to know is this, are CCP going to be making any reimbursements for the frequency of downtime due to*****ed up patch deployments (i doubt it), or even add a few days extra gametime onto an account (i doubt it).
Getting a litle fed up with messages like status unknown, starting up, not accepting connections.
Come on CCP - why are you not running a full redundancy setup to cover issues like this??? I know that the frequency of downtime lately is very very annoying and a lot of people are getting upset (to put it nicely)

it not about the game having problems gfor the "vet poster a couple of post back
it all about that they do regular server stuff every day for a hour to AVOID problems like this and got patch time to sort out problems so we already "deal" with it every day for a hour it would be different if they did so server stuff everyday BUT they do so this is unexectable that they are not offering compensation to ships lost whent hey are saying that it is not there fault when NODE death and major game effecting lag
as a vet you should of known that they do server issues everyday to PREVENT THIS PROBLEM

Why else would we be discussing "walking in stations" for a space COMBAT game? Why else would the game reset the camera to fully zoomed-in after every gate or undock...? "hey, look at my artwork! revel in my handicraft!"

wow Equinox WhiteWolf, im not sure what to say..... do you complain about any thing or do you allways give up ans accept things this easy? i go some beach front property for sale located on the moon it ha oil wells and condos on 1 dollar per lot. if you necver complain you should be happy with this offer., after all it not perfect lol
