Edited by: Morreia on 03/07/2007 18:26:10 Meh, I had to log onto my account, have alot of kill mails to look through and was fun arguing with you before hand.
I don't keep kill boards by the way (never see the point) so asking for that is kinda pointless.
Also another thing which will stop me attacking someone is if they have killed many crows setup similar to mine and I know it/they can prove it which kinda counts out ryysa again.

Morreia, please stop trolling.
Anyway, the OP was asking about techniques for flying a vagabond, can anyone actually *stay on topic* and reply to the poor man?

Also, the bull**** factor is off the scale, you said your crow can survive 5 wrecking hits from a vagabond, that you can solo vagabonds, shall I go on?

Come on you can do it, one link, like this http://awm.griefwatch.net/?p=details&kill=811 I know its been a while, been on a hiatus from the game but I bet finnegan remembers the fight because he convo'd me after it asking if I had a tracking disrupter on my jag.
I'm pretty sure any vaga pilot getting solo killed by a crow will remember the fight, so you go ahead and post your mail with the victim listed so people can go hey did you ever get solo killed by a crow? Believe me, it'll be memorable enough.

And err, that's one of the most horrible setups I've ever seen on the vagabond, the guy most likely was a total idiot :) And even if he was, I doubt you would've killed him solo with your jag.

Tbh, regarding tips, there's not too much.
There are acouple of rules...
1. Don't get webbed! This can be slightly harder now, since there is an option to overload webs. Make sure you keep your distance at all times. Add ship types to your overview, and watch for minmatar recons (hugins, rapiers). 2. Watch your cap This is just as important as not getting webbed, you don't want to be stuck with no cap. Watch your cap at all times, if you are getting nosed, burst your MWD and get out while you still have cap. 3. No point to fight EW A vagabond has very low sensor strength/locking range, if you see any Dampening/Jamming ships, just leave and find something else, you'll most likely get permajammed and killed afterwards. 4. Navigation A lot of people don't realize that you don't orbit with mwd on all the time with a vagabond. You shieldtank, meaning you use MWD to get to your target and away from your target. Don't burn your MWD too much and make your guns miss all the time. Also, if you are escaping from your target, make sure you mwd burst towards a warpable object, so that if you need to warp out, you can instantly do so, and not wait until you VERY slowly turn around and get killed.
Other than this, keep 18-19 km range, f1...f5 (or f1..f6 if you have corpum nos). I like the huginn more than the vagabond though, it has great resistance to EW and 40km webbing range with normal webbers (at recon 5). The downsides are that it's slower, uses three weapon systems like a mini typhoon and does about 50 less dps than the vagabond.

Nano curse. ( something i am training for )
sensor dampened and nossed to hell = no tank of any kind and now way to get out alive short of mates near by.
Originally by: Antarus Lars Rule number 1 : Dont fight Huggins/Curses.
From my experience both of those ships excell at killing vagas.
When i fly my curse i have never even come close to getting killed by a Vagabond, as there cap is dead in seconds.
Actually, the Vagabond can beat Nano-Damp Curses provided your starting distance is relatively low (on a gate, warping into a belt, etc), you can close the range quickly (easy as the Vagabond is much faster) and you use Phased Plasma + Hobgoblins (faction PP is much better). Hit your MWD and approach the Curse and it will drop very very quickly if you manage to get within it's damping range with your speed.
Also, if there's a Nano-Damp Curse messing around in your local area/station, try fitting a MWD/Disruptor/Cap Booster/Sensor Booster on your Vagabond using PP and Hobgoblins. Neither of you have a tank but unlike the Curse your weapon system doesn't need to catch up with you first (the drones) before you start taking hits, and they rarely do when you're both going rather fast.

With drone nav 4, mines go at 7.5k/s - that means gistii + 3x overdrives.
Not when they start to orbit, they don't. I take it you think your drones will orbit with their MWD turned on? Go try it.

Thanks very much for that. It's nice to know I'm on the right track for once. I can fly a Vagabond but don't own one yet and am doing exactly what you suggest until I get the hang of it: flying a falloff-rigged Stabber with 2 falloff and 1 tracking rig + skills + 3% falloff implant = 20km falloff (don't bag me on the cost, rigs are cheap when built from mission/rat salvage, as they were intended to be). It's going to be even better on the Vagabond I hope.

Tracking rig is quite pointless...
Quote: (don't bag me on the cost, rigs are cheap when built from mission/rat salvage, as they were intended to be). It's going to be even better on the Vagabond I hope.
Just fyi, everything has something called "opportunity cost", just because you got those parts for the rigs "free" (actually, your time is not free, so you did not get them free), doesn't make the rigs "free".
If you make 2 falloff rigs which have a market price of 2x15=30m, then when you die you still lose 30m, since you could've just sold them and had the 30m in the first place.
Can't believe how many people can't grasp this simple concept...
