Edited by: Rylet VanDorn on 03/07/2007 03:05:17 Edited by: Rylet VanDorn on 03/07/2007 03:04:22 As of 03:00 Server time, the Novus Ordos Seclorum alliance has been disbanded, as arranged with all those involved.
The past months have been fraught with apathy, and attempts at cobbling the alliance together into something formidable, but these attempts have failed. It has existed as a group of individuals simply co-habitating in space, rather than a single cohesive unit.
As the only volunteer to act as executor during NOS' final days, I have performed my duties and disbanded the alliance.
My thanks to CVA for the support they provided NOS during the 10 months my corp has been apart of NOS, and living in the providence region.

Honestly surprised that it even lasted this long, although from what I understand few - if any - of the original corps are left.

I for one am very saddened about the passing of NOS as they did contribute to the character of Providence in their own way.
NOS was at its peak shortly after it was created.
For those who don't remember NOS was formed by those Huzzah corps who wished to remain in Providence when Hans Roaming was expanding Huzzah out into Catch.
When Huzzah eventually collapsed some of Huzzah's more capable PvP corps joined NOS and the alliance was at its strongest during this period and relations with CVA were very good during this period.
However, many of the NOS PvPers drifted off to other alliances leaving NOS severely weakened in the PvP stakes.
Gradually CVA and NOS relations began to get strained, primarily because NOS recruited at least one known macro NPC corp.
CVA issued NOS with an ultimatum to remove said macro corp and their response was very poor (from our perspective) although the corp was eventually evicted.
This brought CVA / NOS relations to a low point and indeed behind the scenes NOS had opened negotiations with Ushra'khan, the Minmatar terrorists and long term enemies of CVA, to put a NAP in place.
Obviously, we in CVA were not impressed about this, however as our philosophy has always been to let people operate in Providence provided they were not pirating or actively assisting the Minnies we did not take any steps against NOS.
However, many NOS/HUZZAH old timers who had moved on from the alliance were dismayed to hear about what was happening in their old alliance and without any prompting from us launched an attack on NOS. Within a week the NOS 'appeasers' had capitulated and a more CVA friendly leadership was reinstated within the alliance.
Relations from that time improved although CVA did not have many direct dealings with NOS who did their own thing in the QBL pocket without interfence from us and they generally stayed out of the CVA/UK war.
However, unbeknownst to us the Minmatar terrorists had been scouting QBL and were under the (false)impression that CVA and NOS were collaborating on some huge 'project' in that area.
As a result they decided to attack NOS and launched an assault on one of their strategic systems - attacking a NOS POS. With its weakened military NOS couldn't effectively fight off this attack on their own but fortunately a CVA (and allied Amarrian fleet) was in the area and we managed to break into the system (Afer a big fight at gate) and then killed on Ushra'khan dreadnought at the POS (which was saved).
Over the next few days Ushra'khan erected 3 more POS in the system but these were destroyed by CVA/NOS forces.
After the attack on QBL CVA/NOS relations were once again very strong and NOS began to once again play a more active role against Ushra'khan and indeed sent some forces to assist CVA in our attacks on the Minmatar Outpost systems of QR and 9UY.
I am not aware of the internal politics of NOS so I do not know what has lead to their eventual decision to fold but what I do know is that many of their corps will be remaining in the area and continuing to work with CVA to bring law and order to holy Amarrian Providence.
I salute NOS for their contribution to the region. While they may not have been the most capable PvP alliance they were generally decent folk and like Huzzah before them certainly have their place in Providence history!

And once again Butter takes credit for something that had nothing to do with him...
Seriously mate, your piratical band is reasonably good at what it does but in the grand scheme of things has about as much effect as a gnat biting a rhino.
Yes you have some good PvPers, yes you can be quite effective in small gang and yes even a threat to lone travellers wandering around Providence, but to imply that you deserve some kind of credit for NOS disbanding is stretching it a little.
The alliance has just stated that they are dead. Why spit on their grave? Even if you thought they were POS huggers there really is no need to continue smacking them...

And where exactly did I claim credit for anything? I was simply stating a fact.
There are three alliances in Providence we want to see disband because we think they contribute nothing to the area other than macro-rat and hide in POS.
One just did. So I repeat: One down. Two to go.
Its a statement of fact, not me claiming credit for anything.

As far as I can remember NOS was formed by a bunch of carebears from huzzah who had a failure of a dream to build an outpost to mine ice in providence while huzzah was getting steamrolled. NOS got steamrolled, so people decided to leave for D2, which got steamrolled, and I'm sure the trend continues. The alliance at one point was chock full of ebay macro isk farmers who practically patented the cloaking/logging raven. I'm surprised the alliance lasted more than a month, but it is providence, after all. ---

Why is it giving information away? I am just interested to see who it is that you think doesn't 'contribute' anything to the area.
My guesses would by Sylph and CVA who coincidentally happen to be the people who shoot you on sight.
I am also interested in what exactly it is that BUM contributes to the area other than ganking unwary NPCers and the occasional hauler?

Giving to much infomation to CVA is just plan bad. I respected you as a pvp force and you guys have the will and the people to throw a very large spanner in the works.
And no i dont see CVA as alliance that doesn't 'contribute' to the area infact its that other way around.
As for BUM 'contribute' to the area, both BUM and CVA have diffrent objectives. Your is a RP objective the goal is to turn the area into a Amarr control space. While ours is still fuzzy around the edges but its getting there. ----------

If I remember correctly it was a while prior to Huzzah getting "steamrolled." Maybe not though it has been a while since then and my memory does get fuzzy with age.

We went into there space a branch of with only one way out with one inty and two af's. After we killed a Maelstrom they camped us in for 2 days in a row (fulltime). Was realy the best dedicatoin i ever saw to get some gankers.

Funny. And you're wrong in your assumptions about our targets, we like having CVA around and it would be stupid to say you don't contribute to the area. You're an integral part of Providence and a valued one (as a friend or a foe).
Talking of NPCer ganking, why don't you ask UCE and Sylph what happened when they actually fitted for PVP and engaged us two days ago 60 v 10?

Well this in fact marks the final end of the remnants of Huzzah. Thats probably the biggest news. The NOS Alliance as its been for the past several months has been pretty quiet. But at one point there was a solid attempt at building a decent mixed pvp/industrial alliance for those Huzzah's that had no interest in the blob politics of Catch.
It was a good goal-it just suffered from a lack of dedicated leadership.
NOS for what you tried to do early on you have my respect but it certainly was time to close up shop.

Final end of remnants of Huzzah? Not so fast sonny. Lot of remnants around U know + the old ghost itself.
No Quarter still alive and pretty kicking by the looks of their kb and and Huzzah is doing just fine and dandy away from blob politics and enjoying the game without any political aspirations or claims.
Makes this gaming experience feel fun again and not work, something that has made many quit or give up, just like NOS here.

Exactly. No Quarter. (a corp originally formed from several ex-Huzzah corps) is still going strong (and growing at a decent rate) so I know that at least this remnant of Huzzah is going strong. :)
Haven't run into the ol' alliance wherever she may be nowadays but we'll always carry that Huzzah spirit. :)

Within a week the NOS 'appeasers' had capitulated and a more CVA friendly leadership was reinstated within the alliance.
The extent of 'behind the scenes negotaitions' was that NOS, whom had inherited a poor relationship with the Ushra'Khan by carrying over their Huzzah diplomatic standings to their new alliance, decided that they wanted us to stop shooting at them. So they renounced slavery and we removed their red standings. the dicussion would have looked something like this:
NOS - We want neutral. Ushra - Ok, renounce slavery and we'll call it quits. NOS - Ok.
And that's the lot. No mutual promises, alliances, drawing closer or anything at all substantial. Their IGS announcement was retracted very shortly afterwards which pretty much killed any likely trust we might have placed in them going forwards and from that day on firmly put them in the slaver camp.
Originally by: Hardin Relations from that time improved although CVA did not have many direct dealings with NOS who did their own thing in the QBL pocket without interfence from us and they generally stayed out of the CVA/UK war.

We have had a very long history of shotting at each other, QBL was no new thing. NOS setting up a pos 2 jumps away from Unity station in the Assah corridor months earlier is a prime example.
The QBL offensive was targetting an industrial build up that we had spotted, at the time we thought that it could be preparations for an outpost. We did not think it was a joint project with CVA, but we did think it highly likely that CVA would come to the defence of NOS. The surprise was all the other people and the size of the response. I don't know why there was such a large Amarr coalition fleet on the move that night but it was a very swift and strong response.
Still, it was well worth a shot. I'm just glad to see an old supporter of slavery and long time enemy alliance meet its end. Good bye NOS, the war goes on.

Thank you for the correction. My impression (gathered to talking to various people in UK at that time) was that they thought that there was some kind of CVA involvement - but it was a while a go so I could be wrong.
In terms of the swift reaction I believe it was because we had a fleet harassing Imperial Order in the Dital area which we had started to move home because we had reports of a largish 15/20ish pirate gang in the R3 area - can't remember if it was AAA or some other group. Anyway we moved the fleet home and then discovered another incoming Imperial Order fleet (which I was informed was meant to have been a distraction to CVA while you attacked NOS).
However because we had by now a largish fleet already assembled the Imperial Order gang had to safespot and then we had a very fast reaction from other people who came down to help... ------------------------------ CVA - Kicking Arse For The Empire - http://eve-files.com/dl/83607

Edited by: Rylet VanDorn on 03/07/2007 16:17:24 Honestly the most accurate statement about the situation that can be made is "We saw this coming".
Anyone who knew the area knew that the alliance was essentially a joke for at least the last 6 months. Macro ratters, industrialists, people spending all their time up in empire... there really was no reason for the alliance to exist except for the fact that the name entitled us to the space we lived in.
From my perspective, the whole situation with NAPing UK was spurred by sympathizers... people who wanted to rebel against CVA. I don't know if these people ultimately joined the alliance with this in mind, but whatever the case, it happened. Once the rest of NOS woke up and spoke out against being CVA's enemy, those people chose to leave the alliance, and ended up showing their true colors.
Whatever the case, the only way NOS would have been resurrected was if a strong leader emerged, willing to put the time and effort into cutting the fat off, recruiting promising corps, and rebuilding the alliance's reputation. None of those who volunteered for leadership were willing or able (due to RL commitments, etc) to put that time and effort in, and as such, the alliance has drifted away.
Being one who believes in closure and putting dying things out of their misery (I've had to do this before with a WoW Raiding guild)... I have essentially euthanized NOS. = )

Thanks for the kind words but I was really just the public face, it was really the members who did everything and the best legacy of Huzzah is that people got out of the sandbox that is Providence and have had adventures new. 0/ Chaos, you played a pretty big part in the downfall of NOS yourself mate
We were looking for targets, and when we realised that CVA and NOS were having diplomatic problems, we took the opportunity to send in gank squads. CVA did not pay us for our actions, the only thing they did, was to give us free passage through R3 to reach our targets
Was fun...and to Chaos, you did a good job as FC in S9X

Just because NOS is disbanding doesn't mean we all have to be all *** and happy about it.
NOS was, for as long as I had played in providence one of the worst alliances I have ever seen. They are right their in the crapper with Brotherhood of Steel and Hammer's Slammers. They have no ability to pvp, they constantly carebear, and many many of their members die every day to stupidity which NOS never really cared about. There responses to any sort of hostile action was to blob up with a few bs and then blow up; and that in itself was a rare action indeed.

I really dont understand why you go and say Piwat! at every single guy who shoots at you... its dumb and its shows the lack of brains of many of this puppet corps that currently exits has.
A real EVE piwat will shoot your ass till structure and then ransom your ass, or focus on killing your haulers to steal the **** our of them, on the other hand an hostile fleet will go to your doors and kill you on with an ON YOUR FACE! kinda attitude, those are only ppl flying to have fun killing nubs like Sylph NOS Hammer Slammers etc etc.
Now about NOS, i feel sorry for your departure cose you where like the easiest targets around, killing you was as easy as killing a baby puppy tied up to a tree. Less killmail whoring for me.

Fair well to NOS
First off from the very beginning there was a plan to put a Station in the QBL pocket. FACT
And yes for the most part the original members were highsec / lowsec corporations with one or 2 exceptions. FACT
but
What NOS did was to give some corps a chance to move out of high-sec / low-sec into 0.0 and stake a claim for themselves. For that they should be commended. In a time when most of 0.0 is taken and any attempt by a new alliance to take any space is squashed under the veteran alliances of 0.0.
CVA allowed that to happen and they should be commended for giving NOS that chance.
Now NOS did fail and was going to fail from the very beginning do to some poor internal decisions and it was only a matter of time if they where not corrected. But this is not new news as most alliances fail and in fact only a few survive the times and the challenge of 0.0 .
But I am rambling. So a personnel thanks to NOS, CVA, Widowmakers for giving the corp I was in at the time a chance to see what 0.0 is like. Despite how it all turned out.

I'm not even sure why I'm posting this as it is ancient history. Me and my corp don't give a crap about NOS despite being former members. In fact, they managed to annoy us so much that when we left NOS we sided with UK against CVA in order to shoot them.
But what annoys me now is seeing all these people like Chaos crying, moaning, and saluting this dead horse, even after they stabbed it in the back while leading it. The founding corps of NOS, who would later make up Momentum, used alliance station funds in the billions of isk in order to buy carriers and other toys for themselves, then abandoned NOS and took the funds and the carriers with them. Of course, just like us, you also began to attack NOS and have fun with the dreads that you probably bought with their *our* isk. I'm not crying about that I thought it was hilarious that someone would actually bother to attack poses in providence.
But anyway, the alliance that you founded never mattered to you and the people in the alliance that followed you never mattered to you. I don't know exactly what does matter to you, isk, laughs at another's expense, killmails (mmmm... killmails), exotic dancers, whatever. But don't make a public display of mourning over NOS. Just have the decency to openly spit on the grave you dug and shoved them in.
