Why cloakers need to be able to be spotted.

All he is doing is cloaking at a belt killing unsuspecting ratters then brags about it then cloaks whenever trouble comes for him. He has been in our system doing this crap for over a week now. Yes I do see the need for cloaks but this is not one of them. This is a pathetic way of style. This story has probably been mentioned time and time again but why CCP has done nothing about it? We have tried throwing bait at him but must of been getting him at his afk times thats another thing he can sit safetly in a hostile system afk cloaked not worrying about anything. Please CCP there is no countermeasure to this at all let there be someway to detect this kind of nonsense.

Kil'Roy Minmatar The Rat Patrol	Posted - 2007.07.14 19:46:00 - [5] I hope by removing local, making all belts exploration sites, and allowing for system scanners, where you have soverignity, will help with this. The Cloaker won't be able to just warp to all static belts to find prey, he would have to scan them down. So he will either have to gimp his offense or find a partner to scan for him. I've seen blogs where all of this is in the works, I think it could add a lot more realism to the game.

Professional Troll	Posted - 2007.07.14 19:56:00 - [12] Just get a Maller or Moa, tanked specifically for whatever he's flying, an interceptor (your choice, though the Stiletto works the best), and a couple good gank ships. Bait him with the Maller/Moa, when he bites, warp the 'ceptor in to scramble/web him and stay within decloak range, then the gankers can take him. The ability to flawlessly cloak large bulky combat vessels, shove them into a safe spot or a few hundred clicks off a station or gate and just wait without ever getting spotted is, atleast in my view, wrong. Someone wrote in this thread that if you're specialized in cloaking, then you should be allowed to be good at it and do it. Sure, I can agree to that. IF ITS WITH THE SHIPS ACTUALLY SPECIALIZED IN CLOAKING! I do not see Battleships or Battlecruiser hulls to be part of that category. There are infact a very specific list of what ships are designed to use cloaks. The rest of the ships should get a smack of the nerfmissile and that way, the Pirates will not only get more targets to shoot at, but will also see more risk themselves. When something doesn't work you don't ask to change the system, you change your play and adapt to the system.

Bait the cloaked ship, rat in gangs, leave etc. There are counters to this other than letting a probe loose and scanning or waiting for a nerf.

You apparently dont have the skills or you would know that a bigger ship with a cloak just fitted, not even activated has its lock time gimped so bad that a fricken hauler or anything else has time to run if aligned. Its the ops fault or his buddies that they cant get away or pop the cloaker. Op.....find smarter buddies.

Before we talk about cloacking could you tell us what kind of ship he/she is using?? Anything bigger than Cruiser has huge impact on locking times. Wth it's signature/size and his 1 m/s speed shouldn't be a problem spot him, bring smb and knock him out. If it's not a stealth ship by nature, he cannot warp cloacked either. If he use Stealth Bomber, or Recon then fly in packs. To shoot he has to uncloak - lock - shoot - cloak. Get some insta lock harpies and crows and blast him.
