I have an Archon, and I find it one of the best 2 Carriers (Archon/Chimera being those two) ingame due to the resist bonus being more useful than a Damage Bonus or a Repper Bonus.

The Archon is a nice boat, it can be a real beast if fitted properly.
The Thanatos has a nice damage bonus, but as far as I know, it only applies to the carrier pilot.
The Nidhoggur is... uhm... The Minmatar carrier, yep. [ it's a tight squeeze for fitting, though ]
The Chimera is nice, though. It could do with a bit more CPU, however.
My vote is for the Chimera though, simply as I'm Caldari spec'd. But for armor tank spec'd pilots, the Archon is likely the best bet.

Have Thanatos, will have Nyx before year is up. Gallente FTW.
Although i'm considering getting my alt into an Archon just for the giggles of ganking stuff with 2 Carriers instead of just one.

not being a carrier pilot myself, some relish the 20,000 more drone bay of the Thanatos over the Archon. Is it that much better than having 20% bonus to resistances with carrier at level 4 with the Archon?
so you could fit your complement of fighters replacement fighters, and many drones replacement drones for any situation with that extra 20k...

You may feel uber looking at your Archons 90% resists while docked up and hanger-spinning, but when it comes down to combat all the Carriers can remote-rep and launch fat ass expensive drones just the same, which is what really matters in the end of the day.

If you don't want it, I could always use an archon. That is my carrier of choice also.
Being a Fleet Commander and a Arbitrator pilot are the same thing - The only difference being that the Fleet Commander commands other people, and the people actually listen to him. |

Thanatos. Wanted an armour tanker, and was tempted with the brick walliness of the archon, but the deciding factor was the ability to rep shields - invaluable in a POS war.

Chimera. I prefer shield tank, and the 25% shield resists are nice. Also people dont confuse it for a Rokh anymore!

The Chimera certainly cant tank and remote rep. No way, its regen is already crap, and boosting it would mean a weaker tank. Best tanking carrier? No way.

Its not that yyber bonus. minmatar carrier lvl4 gives 45km/1800hp/5sek. Only 300hp more repair. Nidhoggur needs more bonus. now its just repair ship that is target no1 and taking hit while remote repair is pain in the ass!

My Chimera setup can permarun the shieldbooster for 4500DPS tanked average, and one of the shield transporters. It can run two shield transporters for about 3 minutes before it caps out. Now if that isn't a nice logistics platform, i don't know what is :D

Thanatos. 'cause I'm Gallente specced and CBA to train for another race (though I think the Thanatos is just fine). Can't fly the damn thing, since I switched specs halfway there, but hey... *one day*... I will undock (and be blown up right quick by someone with any pvp skills, no doubt).

Setup right it has a good tank,
Gets a damage bonus (there are no damage bonus mods for fighters, so this is a very 'valuable' bonus)
Can use capital shield reppers to rep a pos, and also has no fitting problems unlike caldari/minmatar carriers.
Archon is sometimes better for close up battle because of its ability to use armor xfers and its nice tank bonus, but that is only going to help her so much, you still need a superior gang, the carrier just helps avoid too many friendly losses.

Fly a Thanatos, and while some of the other carriers tank better, I like being able to use either shield reps or armor reps, and since most carriers armor tank, Chimeras tend to get boned in gangs where most of the other carriers have armor reps fitted.

At this time Im as close to a Chimeara as I am to a Thanatos, with the Nidhoggur a bit behind.
Would go for Thanatos (offensive bonus) or Nidhoggur (cuz I like Norse Mythology). :)

I picked this one because of her extra damage bonus
FYI : you might just as well go to the eve skills showroom, it will give you the numbers of pilots able to fly these ships with a far better sample of the community

Have a chimera, but wish cap ships weren't in the game (along with POS). When defenders can drop caps on an enemy gang, you end up seeing enemies with a LOT more nano setups since normal ships won't survive without their own capital support. This results in seeing nothing but nano-gangs roaming around space, uncatchable and nigh unkillable unless they decide to engage you and you have the exact combination of ships necessary to take them down. As a result of this, I've had maybe two real fights in the last six months.
Moreover, I didn't join this game to play Starfighter Online, which is what all the nano-*****s seem to want. Instead, I joined it to play Warships Online or whatever you want to call it. Nanoing up isn't fun for me, which is why I rarely fly my vaga and haven't nano-fitted my machariel. I want to have fights, not engage opponents who have NO chance of even attempting to defend themselves.
CCP, please remove nanos, capitals, POS. You don't even have to reimburse me for the phoenix and chimera I happen to own, just please fix this crap.

Chimera is the best carrier for my role.
As much as I would like a Wyvern, it isnt actually on my wish list as I will not ruin a character trained in the finer arts of spaceship command, missiles and gunnary and relegate him to one ship until the end of eve.

It may not have the tank ability you would hope for, but with 7 mid slots to use for electronic warfare, using it solo becomes far easier and more effective.
Going on bonus's the damage bonus of teh gal carriers wins.
But all in all. the hel. just sex sex sex
oh n for teh record, 13 days till i can fly 1. all these years, and this chars finaly got round to it.
