Faulty reasoning?
You can get modules and sometimes ammunition from shooting things. You can't get ships.
To get ships requires purchasing from industrial players. Ships require largish amounts of minerals to build, and expensive blueprints. Industrial players get their minerals from mining players. (Or do it themselves)
Ships are expensive.
Faulty reasoning: Ships are expensive because mining players are all greedy profiteers, who aren't "ubar" enough to play Eve "properly", therefore people hate them because they have to spend lots of their isk on replacement ships, and resent the idea that it is possible to make more isk by not shooting things.
But by harassing mining players, it means only farming operations mine, and manufacturers either use farmed minerals, or manufacturing is taken over by farming operations, so no-one other than farmers mines or builds.
Minerals aren't worth anything until someone buys them, farmers get the isk that they sell from players. Isk sellers take isk from players, and sell it to others.
Harassing miners does not stop isk farming+selling, it makes it more profitable.

I think the biggest reason is because pvp is such an isk sink. The risk to reward ratio for most people in pvp is so low its allmost a pointless exercise for any inteligent person. But these yunguns like the flashes of light so off they go, blowing up a t2 ship full of gear they can barely afford every other sunday... Then they see the average carebear in a billion isk ship and the envy makes them flip...
Still, they are as big a part of the food chain as tritanium, as they are the human ore alliance warfare is built from...

CCP specifically calls mining a "profession". That means that CCP has decided that spending all your game time mining is acceptable. Perhaps Counter-Strike would be more to your style if you think that everything is supposed to be fighting. <-----------> Factional Warfare:

Sadly, in all likelihood at least, more minerals are produced from refined loot than from mining. Running missions nets far more isk/hour than mining and a large portion of that is from the sale of reprocessed loot.

True, but some of us who aren't always out for the "ZOMG I PWND U!!!!" bit like to kick back, relax, and watch the lasers eat up the rocks while we chat it up in corp channel. Plus I'd have to get a LOT of reprocess-quality loot to pull together enough tritanium and other "low-end" ores for some of my 40-ship production runs.
Now, to the topic at hand: I've found that the vast majority of people who have issues with miners are just gankers who are upset that we tend to hang out in "safer" places, and therefore do not come to them to present ourselves as easy kills and free loot. As for those of you who say we're not playing the game the "right" way: Well, you're wrong. Otherwise why would there be mining barge blueprints and asteroid belts? You think they're JUST for the macrominers? -------------------

To be honest I have yet to encounter any real offensive players towards me for mining and if I do encounter them one day I will just ignore them. If however I get some sort of offensive email ill just cut and paste it into a harassment pitition and leave it at that.
There is really no point in getting flustered over what someone says to you in a game.

Funny that you bring this up. Personally i don't hate miners in general. On the other hand some of the most hatefull and offensive people are indeed miners.
I tell you i have killed my fair share of mining cruisers, barges and some hulks of course. No one, not a single of these miners was able to accept the loss of his precious vessel without calling me names and using abusive language that breaks the EULA. (all this in lowsec btw.) As a consequence i am expecting this kind of behaviour which obviously lowers my appreciation of miners at all.
Why is that? Why dou you hate me? I have chosen a valid style of gameplay just like you so why do i get harrased by dead miners? This is just to show it goes for both sides of the fence. Abusive smack and downright hatred or harrasment isnt good for eve, but everyone has to deal with it his own way - not only the miner.
And please don't say its any different just because i blow people up before they tick off. Everything i do is in total agreement with the rules of the game, the EULA and everything else. You wouldn't insult your chess-mate just because he ganked your bishop after you made an error?

Savvon, you are a whiny little noob and I hope you get suicided over and over again.
This has nothing to do with you being a miner, it has to do with your wanting eve to be a happy friendly fluffy place full of carebears who will leave you alone to farm your isk so you can watch that number grow for no reason.
If I ever see you, I will be sure to harass and, if my ship is insured and cheap enough, suicide you.

I've got nothing against miners.
As long as they're no ultra-generic test-tube baby, which means something like a two and a half months old NPC corp Achura with a gibberish name ice-mining in Gallente space.
It's all the NPC corp alts who create that negative bias. Go blame them.

Um....
Hi griefers. =p
Savvon isn't complaining because he's getting shot. PvPer / Griefer / Pirate / whatever is an acceptable profession.
Harasser is NOT an acceptable profession.
To the dude above, miners screamed at you because you you killed them. They were angry. You do not get random mails and conversations from people 3/4 of the galaxy away who have never had anything to do with you hating on you simply for being a PvPer.
Use a bit of common sense.
Smacktalking is an immature and seemingly unavoidable side effect of CCP introducing killmails and dumbing the game down enough that 14 year olds using mommy's credit card are attracted to it from the Counterstrike games. Its unfortunate. But harassing another player for simply existing IS harassment, and IS a violation of the EULA.

This is part of the ignorance I am talking about.
My less then a week old corp is named, "The Free Miners Coalition". My motto is, "Get paid for mining" and "We work for ourselves!"
i.e. YOU DON'T GET TAXED BY IGNORANT GREEDY PLAYERS! All the ISK you make, is your own.
Here is my corporation BIO in full:
A corporation ran by miners for miners.
Don't pay lazy, ignorant CEO's your hard earned ISK through TAX!
MAKE YOUR OWN ISK!
We work for ourselves in Eve!
If you are a miner looking to get away from the griefers and the pew pew wannabies, join our little haven.
I started this corp because I did not like paying others ISK. Any miner is welcome to join.
The players I am trying to attract are the players who have been getting ripped off by player ran corporations who tax them for no just cause. I am talking about high sec corps taxing miners, not low sec corps.
Just because you (and many others like you) are so blinded by ignorance it still does not give you the right to grief me.
Be careful who you call an ISK seller. What you just did to me is called deformation of character and even though it is not against CCP's TOS, it is against the law where EVE-ONLINE's forums are hosted and pressure could easily be put on CCP to ban accounts. That is not a threat, it is a simple fact.
In short, think before you type.
And besides....Who are you do decide if I am a macroer or not? Who are you to decide if I want to ignore my PM's or I don't want to answer your EVE HATE MAIL? Who are you to decide if I want to mine in Eve?

Ok, hi there Savvon too.
Now, I completely understand unreasonable hate for miners. Being harassed for something like that is indeed against the EULA.
However...you my friend...are begging to be harassed. The absolute WORST way to make friends is to threaten people with trying to get their accounts banned, especially when what you are hoping to get their accounts banned for isn't bannable. There are moderators in these forums. They moderate out the things that shouldn't be here because they are personal attacks, or inflammatory.
But when you get high and mighty, and start whining...TRULY whining...and answer attacks on your character with "nyah nyah I'm telling" it seriously hurts your cause. Dude, stop being a whiney beach-ball. If you're being harassed in game, don't say "haha I'm reporting you and you're getting banned." Instead, don't respond at all. File a harassment petition and include all the details.
When you get flamed in the forums, keep in mind that some folks who play Eve DO have mommy's credit card, and feel older/smarter/whatever when they can safely pick on someone from the anonymity of their computer screen. Let it go.
As for the "Curzon for President," I laughed so hard that I choked at that flag. Well played! *salute*

Many people do not understand that international law permits anyone to find out any information about a party which can lead to "real life" harassment charges. Cases like these happen every day and when someone is as fed up as I am and has the resources to do something about it, they probably will.
And lastly, thank you for your opinion on my personality. I will not treat you in the same low manner as you have shown me. I try not to look down my nose at others, instead, I try to make everyone equal.

*is mildly amused*
Well, I offer you this.
Welcome to the Internet. Moreso, welcome to Eve Online. You'll find that about 50% + of the playerbase lives in one of two countries, neither of which is particularly keen on respecting that kind of "international law." Although, this would be a great time to say "Proof of STFU."
What international law are you speaking of? What makes you so fearful that a player that you met in an online video game is going to look you up in real life and stalk you? Honest advice here: If you are so inept at dealing with a community, I urge you to withdraw from the community.
Remember, the first post was yours; a bitter recollection of unfair treatment in game. Fair enough.
Your subsequent posts were high-pitched complaints that the entire universe doesn't love and respect you, and that you would be reporting such lack of adulation to the proper authorities.
Given your fears about being discovered and harassed in real life by the same pirates that are bothering you in-game, I urge you do to the following:
1. Immediately call 911
2. Tell the police operator that you don't feel safe because you play this space game online, and this other player told you that you sucked.
3. Request a police escort in your house for protection.
4. Visit your local judge/magistrate/government official and request a restraining order; such a restraining order to be issued against a list of players as you deem necessary, with power to impact CCP and be held as an international requirement.
5. Retire from the internet.
Remember, you hold the power in your own hands to affect your own destiny. I think its time for you to take action!

Few pirate corp has seen as a easy targets and declared war, but has seen how fatefull that can be when my High Guard is fully mobilized and peasant miltia is called to arms. Parhelion Industries was one of the corp who declared war, and after 2 month of constant battle, it surrendered and its members left the corp.
