Edited by: Savvon on 04/08/2007 10:29:45 More specifically, why the hate towards me for being a miner for simply mining?
I have been playing Eve since 2004. Since day one I have mined. I enjoy mining. I am to mining what some of the top end pilots are to PvP. I enjoy every aspect of mining, especially the ôbusiness simö part of it.
I never complain on these forums about mining or its mechanics. I have been pretty happy with the overall ôclassö and have had some very interesting adventures in my time here.
Recently though, some people have been trying my patience by:
1.Being harassed in belts by n00b ôpiratesö in high sec trying to get me to shoot at their shuttle. We all know why. I just ignore them. 2.Ore thieves stealing from jet cans. It has gotten so bad I just use a Hulk with cargo extenders in high sec. 3.Constant PMÆs asking if I am a bot or if I am ôthereö. Some PMÆs just calling me derogatory names assuming I am not at the keyboard. I turned off my PMÆs. 4.Eve hate mails saying I am ruining the game but never telling me how. I am assuming it is because ôallö miners are bots. 5.In local channel people call miners (especially ice miners) all sorts of derogatory names just for mining there.
Over the years it has gotten a little worse year by year.
Some might call me a carebear (even though I can probably show you a thing or two in my Raven with my capped missile/shield/drone skills) and some might not understand why I enjoy mining. No matter what you think of my game play or my preference, it truly is none of your concern and definitely does not give anyone the right to treat others like some of you have been.
The point I want to make is. I mine. Leave me alone. If you do not, you will be reported to CCP for harassment.

Savvon, I agree completely. I enjoy mining a lot, and know of all the issues you brought up. I have quite a few entries in my blog about macroing though, and I think the problem is that people just don't take the time to make the necessary checks.
The system I am mining in (highsec, 0.9) for ex. is swarmed with macroers, and I know that for a fact as I have been observing them for about 4 months now. I reported them, but so far no action has been taken. I hate this situation, as everybody just assumes that you are a macrominer as soon as you fly a hulk and strip a few belts.
I cut jetcan stealing short by always having my alt with his Mammoth sitting nearby to collect the ore - but not everyone has the leisure of an alt and two PCs to do that. I am frustrated as I don't know how to deal with all these issues anymore. It has taken all the fun out of mining and lately I have reverted to mission running.
If anyone has any solutions to offer, I am all ear.

Sadly this is what it comes down to when you let forum witch-hunts take place
It all started a couple of years ago, members of ccp's volunteer force directing people to go free will on people they suspected.... as long as they petitioned them first, something i was in total disbelief in... considering the consequences of where this *&%^& allways leads to... (described by yourself in the reality of the situation)
Ofcourse because you've been painted black, people such as yourself get little or help, and bet your life the offenders harassing you in the manner you describe won't get told to stop... maybe you won't receive it again.... but it will be on to the next inocent victim:/
I had this happen to members of one of my other halfs corps before, i find it very sad that ccp don't stomp this sort of thing out:/

I have nothing against miners at all, never have, they have an important role in the economy of EvE and keeping those of us who don't mine in nice ships. I don't even fail to understand what people like about mining, i get the idea that for some people they like the idea of creating things from scratch, playing the market and slowly watching their own fortune grow, i can understand it for some people. It isn't what i enjoy doing but i would never have a go at someone else for spending their entire EvE time in a barge.
However that doesn't as part of the game that i won't cause them trouble. Obviously it's easy to see why miners get attacked in lowsec, for either sometihng to kill or for a ransom on a hulk. What people fail to see is the point of annoying miners in highsec. The fact is A: many miners will shoot back, either in their barge or come back in a bigger ship, it can be a laugh and they're not always noobs sometime ya get a good fun fight (sometimes ya lose), B: Minning BC, BS or Hulks that are jetcan mining may decide to attack, or take their ore back and these can be ransomed which gives profit, if they don't pay ya can quite often get half decent drops as loot.
Most people think you're doing it with the sole intention of annoying people when, for me at least, it isn't i'm trying to either blow something up (i like explosions) or make a bit of side cash whilst i happen to be flying around.
I accept that people play the game in different ways and do not judge anyone for how they play it, I'd say the miners have a bigger problem with people playing the game a different way than most. Yes it's annoying to have ya ore stolen (you shouldn't be jetcan mining) but simple fact is if ya ignored it and got on with it, you wouldn't lose your ship and the majority of 'griefers' wouldn't bother ya again, i mean whats the point when we know you won't shoot back.

I gotta agree with Tish... tonight with my evil friend we aquired some T2 cruise launchers, T2 ballistic controls, and a T2 overdrive injector from a Hulk pilot that didn't appreciate what we were doing and came back in a rather well fitted Raven. It was a great fight, he had some good skills too.

.9 = using mining drones = faster mining rate .7 = using scout drones = slower mining rate
Of course it all depends on what minerals you are after I mine in anywhere from 0.2 - 1.0

Just carry on doing what youve been doing, ignore them as best you can.

I have played for many years, and in all of that time Ive mined. Ive trained 3 characters solely for mining to start with and only now with one of them gone pew pew.
I hate macroers and I hate thieves. You cant counter macroers, and everyone thinks that because you know how to mine well you MUST be a macroer, especially a guy like me whos got hours a day to play and am on a lot. They figure because they work and have to go do stuf with family and have a super busy life that EVERYONE else must to, and so if you play more than they do you macro, grind, etc. The other reason is isk. Ive seen so many of my PvP only corpmates and friends WHINE incessantly about being broke, not having ships...going out and losing their top of the line, brand spanking new, super uber fitted ship within 5 mins of having it over and over again. At the end of the day we have more isk than they do and lose 0 of it except to griefers or getting killed in low or 0.0. Miners only make isk, reinvest it and dont give any of it back if we dont have to execept to buy more gear which if were good we only keep.
I found the people that hate the miner the most are those that like to kill things instead of mining. I know guys thatll sit and "guard" a mining op for hours but refuse to TOUCH a laser. I also found that most people hate miners because they think theyr weak and easy targets and make isk for doing nothing in game.
Most are griefers I found, low grade pirates that cant kill or hang with the big boys either in low sec or 0.0 and need the easy kill in order to kill anything at all. Returning the favor and killing them is fun. Even stealing back my ore was fun.
The two ways Ive gotten even with thieves is to stop jetcanning. Hulks with expanders works great. As well as the other character in the indy trick in low sec. The other is to steal back my ore. If I jetcanned Id never mine more than what my indy would haul in really dangerous areas with known thieves about. Theyd come flip the can and sit and wait. And of course when youd go to dock theyd run to get their hauler and it was a foot race. Most of them woudlnt be smart enough to bmk the can so your bmk would work wonders and get you there before them. Then Id steal it back and laugh at them in local. No kill, no ore, no nothing.
The last guys that stole from me lost a barge, almost two and I wanted their other kill ships. I mine solo. I ended that day even. They took a few cans of ore, I took their ships. :D And that was ages ago.
People dont know why miners mine. Its to build and work hard and honestly at something. Its about construction and not destruction. Its about building empires owith bricks, not with blood. Miners are like the true workers of any society. Faithful, dilligent and hardworking people.
We hate macroers more than anyone else, but CCP trying to make the game about piracy has planted the "macro" threat firmly in the minds of people in Eve. And so anyone that makes big isk mining MUST be a macroer, and fair game. CCP encourages people to mistake peopel for macroers as it more PvP oriented, take away empire and "safe" space as well as deal somewhat effectively with the actual macro issues. Besides its good business.

Why do miners feel they should be insulated from everyone else in a MMORPG?
Seriously your at no risk from the belt rats, the only threat to your isk generation is the ore thief. Even then its not that difficult to avoid being blown up.
Mine with a gang, and a command ship with leaderships bonus's & gank and a rapier, see how much ore theives bother you then. Or move to different systems, or cargo expanders, or mine to a hauler, etc etc.

If you're making 4 billion a month mining hi sec roids solo you're doing just fine.
You and your ilk complained and got a jetcan criminal flag, and now that of course isn't enough. What will be enough, bar you being permanently 100% safe while hisec mining - even, dare I suggest it, afk?
Miners who know what they are doing are alright. The majority of situations you're talking about can be ignored or easily avoided.
As far as feeling disrespected, that's for you to deal with. I have nothing against miners personally. Now if you're getting a lot of mails / pm's to see if you are there, it helps illustrate how much of a problem macroing is in Eve. Perhaps, as an honest miner, you should sympathize?

Macroer's effect players like me the most and I never had a problem with them. I can out mine most macroer's and if there are too many of them, I just move belts. Pretty simple.
It is people insulting, exploiting and griefing miners that is the real problem. To be honest, latley I would rather mine in a belt with 10 macroer's then just one of the type of player I have described here.

I don't mind miners, I don't like macrominers though. I have a nice little system with 4 of them and a industrial picking up their cargo.
This gives me a nice oppertunity to steal some of their ore, from jetcans, when I need money and when the npc-pirates actually kill one of them from time to time, I also get a few drones for free.
Yes, I don't like macrominers, on the other hand, they are free ISK for me and they don't complain when you steal from them.

Savvon, there are a lot of rude nasty folks in life. Some of them play this game. Ignore them as best you can is my advice.
Like you I use a hulk kitted out with expanders and cargo rigs. The extra large cargo hold eliminates the need for a hauler. So the griefers can't can-flip me and I'm not noob enough to fall for the old loot trick either.
After a while they get bored and go away.

I wouldnt mine with true macroers. Ill intiate convos and talk to them, if they talk back Ill be friendly and chat. If theyr consistantly afk and doing the macro dance in the belts Im around Ill simply log thier cycles and flip their cans right before they cycle it.
A macroer is easy to spot. Open their can to see inside. If the ore is stacked in multiples of every ore, like 4 different piles of pyrox or veld, theyr macroing. If its stacked and sorted neat its a person. The macros only dump ore into a can, they dont drag and drop or stack it at all.
Ill take it now and drop it in the corp hangar for our corp to use. But before I take it Ill label the can something nice like: "your mining for my corp now". Usually within a few cycles theyll leave.
They are the only people in the game I serious dislike as an honest AT the keyboard miner.
And yes I get a lot of ribbing mining and for enjoying it and doing it a lot. Ironically these are from teh guys that are buying my stuff and my ships a lot of the time too. So....

Faulty reasoning?
You can get modules and sometimes ammunition from shooting things. You can't get ships.
To get ships requires purchasing from industrial players. Ships require largish amounts of minerals to build, and expensive blueprints. Industrial players get their minerals from mining players. (Or do it themselves)
Ships are expensive.
Faulty reasoning: Ships are expensive because mining players are all greedy profiteers, who aren't "ubar" enough to play Eve "properly", therefore people hate them because they have to spend lots of their isk on replacement ships, and resent the idea that it is possible to make more isk by not shooting things.
But by harassing mining players, it means only farming operations mine, and manufacturers either use farmed minerals, or manufacturing is taken over by farming operations, so no-one other than farmers mines or builds.
Minerals aren't worth anything until someone buys them, farmers get the isk that they sell from players. Isk sellers take isk from players, and sell it to others.
Harassing miners does not stop isk farming+selling, it makes it more profitable.

I think the biggest reason is because pvp is such an isk sink. The risk to reward ratio for most people in pvp is so low its allmost a pointless exercise for any inteligent person. But these yunguns like the flashes of light so off they go, blowing up a t2 ship full of gear they can barely afford every other sunday... Then they see the average carebear in a billion isk ship and the envy makes them flip...
Still, they are as big a part of the food chain as tritanium, as they are the human ore alliance warfare is built from...

Spoken from a big tough guy hiding in a NPC corp? What, afraid the big bad miners will wardec you for doing that?
CCP specifically calls mining a "profession". That means that CCP has decided that spending all your game time mining is acceptable. Perhaps Counter-Strike would be more to your style if you think that everything is supposed to be fighting. <-----------> Factional Warfare:

Sadly, in all likelihood at least, more minerals are produced from refined loot than from mining. Running missions nets far more isk/hour than mining and a large portion of that is from the sale of reprocessed loot.

True, but some of us who aren't always out for the "ZOMG I PWND U!!!!" bit like to kick back, relax, and watch the lasers eat up the rocks while we chat it up in corp channel. Plus I'd have to get a LOT of reprocess-quality loot to pull together enough tritanium and other "low-end" ores for some of my 40-ship production runs.
Now, to the topic at hand: I've found that the vast majority of people who have issues with miners are just gankers who are upset that we tend to hang out in "safer" places, and therefore do not come to them to present ourselves as easy kills and free loot. As for those of you who say we're not playing the game the "right" way: Well, you're wrong. Otherwise why would there be mining barge blueprints and asteroid belts? You think they're JUST for the macrominers? -------------------

To be honest I have yet to encounter any real offensive players towards me for mining and if I do encounter them one day I will just ignore them. If however I get some sort of offensive email ill just cut and paste it into a harassment pitition and leave it at that.
There is really no point in getting flustered over what someone says to you in a game.

Funny that you bring this up. Personally i don't hate miners in general. On the other hand some of the most hatefull and offensive people are indeed miners.
I tell you i have killed my fair share of mining cruisers, barges and some hulks of course. No one, not a single of these miners was able to accept the loss of his precious vessel without calling me names and using abusive language that breaks the EULA. (all this in lowsec btw.) As a consequence i am expecting this kind of behaviour which obviously lowers my appreciation of miners at all.
Why is that? Why dou you hate me? I have chosen a valid style of gameplay just like you so why do i get harrased by dead miners? This is just to show it goes for both sides of the fence. Abusive smack and downright hatred or harrasment isnt good for eve, but everyone has to deal with it his own way - not only the miner.
And please don't say its any different just because i blow people up before they tick off. Everything i do is in total agreement with the rules of the game, the EULA and everything else. You wouldn't insult your chess-mate just because he ganked your bishop after you made an error?

Savvon, you are a whiny little noob and I hope you get suicided over and over again.
This has nothing to do with you being a miner, it has to do with your wanting eve to be a happy friendly fluffy place full of carebears who will leave you alone to farm your isk so you can watch that number grow for no reason.
If I ever see you, I will be sure to harass and, if my ship is insured and cheap enough, suicide you.

I've got nothing against miners.
As long as they're no ultra-generic test-tube baby, which means something like a two and a half months old NPC corp Achura with a gibberish name ice-mining in Gallente space.
It's all the NPC corp alts who create that negative bias. Go blame them.

Um....
Hi griefers. =p
Savvon isn't complaining because he's getting shot. PvPer / Griefer / Pirate / whatever is an acceptable profession.
Harasser is NOT an acceptable profession.
To the dude above, miners screamed at you because you you killed them. They were angry. You do not get random mails and conversations from people 3/4 of the galaxy away who have never had anything to do with you hating on you simply for being a PvPer.
Use a bit of common sense.
Smacktalking is an immature and seemingly unavoidable side effect of CCP introducing killmails and dumbing the game down enough that 14 year olds using mommy's credit card are attracted to it from the Counterstrike games. Its unfortunate. But harassing another player for simply existing IS harassment, and IS a violation of the EULA.

This is part of the ignorance I am talking about.
My less then a week old corp is named, "The Free Miners Coalition". My motto is, "Get paid for mining" and "We work for ourselves!"
i.e. YOU DON'T GET TAXED BY IGNORANT GREEDY PLAYERS! All the ISK you make, is your own.
Here is my corporation BIO in full:
A corporation ran by miners for miners.
Don't pay lazy, ignorant CEO's your hard earned ISK through TAX!
MAKE YOUR OWN ISK!
We work for ourselves in Eve!
If you are a miner looking to get away from the griefers and the pew pew wannabies, join our little haven.
I started this corp because I did not like paying others ISK. Any miner is welcome to join.
The players I am trying to attract are the players who have been getting ripped off by player ran corporations who tax them for no just cause. I am talking about high sec corps taxing miners, not low sec corps.
Just because you (and many others like you) are so blinded by ignorance it still does not give you the right to grief me.
Be careful who you call an ISK seller. What you just did to me is called deformation of character and even though it is not against CCP's TOS, it is against the law where EVE-ONLINE's forums are hosted and pressure could easily be put on CCP to ban accounts. That is not a threat, it is a simple fact.
In short, think before you type.
And besides....Who are you do decide if I am a macroer or not? Who are you to decide if I want to ignore my PM's or I don't want to answer your EVE HATE MAIL? Who are you to decide if I want to mine in Eve?

Ok, hi there Savvon too.
Now, I completely understand unreasonable hate for miners. Being harassed for something like that is indeed against the EULA.
However...you my friend...are begging to be harassed. The absolute WORST way to make friends is to threaten people with trying to get their accounts banned, especially when what you are hoping to get their accounts banned for isn't bannable. There are moderators in these forums. They moderate out the things that shouldn't be here because they are personal attacks, or inflammatory.
But when you get high and mighty, and start whining...TRULY whining...and answer attacks on your character with "nyah nyah I'm telling" it seriously hurts your cause. Dude, stop being a whiney beach-ball. If you're being harassed in game, don't say "haha I'm reporting you and you're getting banned." Instead, don't respond at all. File a harassment petition and include all the details.
When you get flamed in the forums, keep in mind that some folks who play Eve DO have mommy's credit card, and feel older/smarter/whatever when they can safely pick on someone from the anonymity of their computer screen. Let it go.
As for the "Curzon for President," I laughed so hard that I choked at that flag. Well played! *salute*

Many people do not understand that international law permits anyone to find out any information about a party which can lead to "real life" harassment charges. Cases like these happen every day and when someone is as fed up as I am and has the resources to do something about it, they probably will.
And lastly, thank you for your opinion on my personality. I will not treat you in the same low manner as you have shown me. I try not to look down my nose at others, instead, I try to make everyone equal.

*is mildly amused*
Well, I offer you this.
Welcome to the Internet. Moreso, welcome to Eve Online. You'll find that about 50% + of the playerbase lives in one of two countries, neither of which is particularly keen on respecting that kind of "international law." Although, this would be a great time to say "Proof of STFU."
What international law are you speaking of? What makes you so fearful that a player that you met in an online video game is going to look you up in real life and stalk you? Honest advice here: If you are so inept at dealing with a community, I urge you to withdraw from the community.
Remember, the first post was yours; a bitter recollection of unfair treatment in game. Fair enough.
Your subsequent posts were high-pitched complaints that the entire universe doesn't love and respect you, and that you would be reporting such lack of adulation to the proper authorities.
Given your fears about being discovered and harassed in real life by the same pirates that are bothering you in-game, I urge you do to the following:
1. Immediately call 911
2. Tell the police operator that you don't feel safe because you play this space game online, and this other player told you that you sucked.
3. Request a police escort in your house for protection.
4. Visit your local judge/magistrate/government official and request a restraining order; such a restraining order to be issued against a list of players as you deem necessary, with power to impact CCP and be held as an international requirement.
5. Retire from the internet.
Remember, you hold the power in your own hands to affect your own destiny. I think its time for you to take action!

Few pirate corp has seen as a easy targets and declared war, but has seen how fatefull that can be when my High Guard is fully mobilized and peasant miltia is called to arms. Parhelion Industries was one of the corp who declared war, and after 2 month of constant battle, it surrendered and its members left the corp.
I started my spaceship captain career as a miner. Even today i mine, because i have always said " Mining is work of the peasants and hobby of the nobility "

While harassing another player simply for existing *as a pirate* is totally fine. Thanky you Curzon for showing me your common sense. I really had to learn it the hard way.

Be careful who you call an ISK seller. What you just did to me is called deformation of character and even though it is not against CCP's TOS, it is against the law where EVE-ONLINE's forums are hosted and pressure could easily be put on CCP to ban accounts. That is not a threat, it is a simple fact.
....
Ok, first, "deformation of character". I had to laugh. Second, INTERNET SPACESHIP GAME? IIRC, telling someone they "suck" or calling someone a "whiny noob" is not a violation of anything, in any country, ever.
Fact of life in EVE is, simply, that one day, you will be sitting in space, humming along, when all of a sudden, "OMGWTFKA-BOOM!" Get used to it. Harassment is not one-off suicides, but an active effort to prevent someone from enjoying the game over time. I have spent my fair share of time in that barge, and I find that if you do not live in the Lag Triangle, or hell, Caldari space, there are basically zero problems with people trying to flip cans, bump, or the like.
Frankly, you, "sir", are one of the reasons miners get dumped on. Macros are evil, but when the people behind the screen try to use out of game, so-called legal methods to strike back at legitimate players, you are worse than any ISK-selling, macro-ratting, 0.01 ISK-undercutting scum in this game.
In the end, if I didn't have other things to deal with, I would track you down, for suicide fun. I have no need for all this extra sec status, and can see no worthier target. As it is, WTB Savvon's Corpse, 5mil, contract me if interested.
Oh, and before you start, suiciding, bumping, flipping, war decs (yes, your one man corp is vulnerable!), and all sorts of other tomfoolery are A) not exploits, and B) an enjoyable pastime when not mining or ratting.
Oh, and have fun, most of all!

This thread delivers. At first, it sounded like an innocent miner getting harangued by losers in space.
Then it turns out that the innocent miner is actually a 14 year old boy who still believes that screaming "I'm telling on you!" is an effective deterrant to getting picked on.
Then it further turns out that he's 5% miner, 95% whiner.
Then it FURTHER turns out that he believes that people who pick on him are violating international law, and are going to go to jail.
Really, this thread delivers.

Actually, this is Savvon. I do not "live" in Halamima, but I am currently mining Ice in that system. Last week I was mining Omber and next week it will be kernite. See, I move around a lot. Since you are not a miner, I wouldn't expect you to grasp that concept.
If you wish to come try and kill me please, I need more video for my "Miner's guide" that will have a section on how to defend against griefers. Just got a Ferox on video that was beautiful. Cannot wait to upload it to Google video.
On a side note, I think it is hilarious that you need someone else to fund you in your attempt in killing me. I will be in Halamima for a few more days, come on over.
All I ask is try to kill me in a Caldari ship, I build those.

I dont defend Savvon here but he is a general all round nice guy. I do however find this post an ego trip for him.
'Im a Miner, look at me, i bet my raven will whoop a few of you pirates.... etc etc'
Miners form an important part of the game. PVP'rs will call you lots of names and have hostility towards you, deal with it.

port22, Long time no talk. I help out many miners like I did you. Many. Teaching them how to mine, what to skill and helping them buy their first ships. It's what I do. By the way, you are welcome for the help I gave many months (years?) ago.

Time to add my comments to this thread. I mine in 0.5 and 0.6, in a very busy system with large numbers of asteroid belts. I do not jetcan mine, ore thieves are far too common, but thats fine with me. I have only ever encountered an idiot in a shuttle once I have only ever been PM'd once and never mailed asking if I was a macro and they were very polite about it then said sorry for asking when I told them I was not (although maybe my CSPA prevents most of that stuff :) ). In local, the only messages regarding mining are 'can I salvage your wrecks' and 'do you mind if I rat in your belt', which are both fine by me, especially killing the rats as it saves me having to get my drones out :)
I am guessing the OP is in caldari space which is generally overpopulated and infested with noobs, but in other areas it isn't that bad. ----------

Miner hate comes from three sources
1. People who dont mine and dont like anyone who doesnt play the game the same way they do. We all know the type, blah blah blah i am teh elite killar and i hate n00bz and everyone whos not a smacktalking ganker like me. Miners sometimes pull this **** too, so its sort of a two way street.
2. People who think youre a macro. Fact is, in a given populated highsec system at least 50% of the barges are macros, I know thats not your fault as a miner thats just how it is and some people are sort of slow in determining the difference between a macro and a real player. A good way to cut down on almost all of this is to join a player corp if you havent already, because macros never join corps due to the wardec risk and a lot of people are inherently distrustful of NPC corp people because many people abuse NPC protections for various dubious practices.
3. Jealousy. Ive known some people who hate miners because they get 'easy money' though from personal experience mining is actually worse than most other professions from an income-per-hour basis. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Hmm pretty sad reading all these replies from ppl who seem to think that taking on a mining ship in their pvp fitted ship is good game play ... just seems like they don't have the skills to go find a real target to shoot at. "Yay I'm such a l33t player cause I can pwn a miner in my t2 pimped ride". - yeah that sounds like a fair fight. More than likely the miner can usually recoup their losses in about an hour or 2 while the pvper would have to spend all day to make that same amount of isk Well guess they have to find some way to make themselves feel big by clocking up as many kills as they can (who cares about quality anyway ?!)
I've had a fair few wannabe pirates come pester me and my gang while mining in hi sec. In lo sec we can take a guard party and pop them without the overbearing Concord sticking their noses in (I even managed to get on a kill mail in lo sec in my retreiver with drones back in the past ) In Hi sec I just watch them run off thinking they scored when they manage to get my 3mins worth of ore if they manage to sneak up while I'm waiting for hauler to return. Jetcan's are often the only or best option as someone smart decided to only give mining barges enough space for 2 cycles when ya in a gang with bonuses and decent skills Nice to see from other threads that there is something in the works to give miners some lub Miner Dream and a lo sec Capital Ship
It can be nice to just kick back and mine some ore while getting dinner or tending to other more important things (like making a shopping list for the next project). I, unlike many others, seem to get more satisfaction from creating things for people to use rather than destroying everything they can. Mining is an essential part of Eve - if we all stopped mining then nothing would get built and if they did then prices would be much higher. I think every miner needs to be carefull and keep an eye on things when mining though - then maybe we'll make it harder and more boring for those that have nothing better to do than be playground bullies ... cause they don't have the guts or skills to go to losec or 0.0 and get into some real PVP.
Of cause us miners and industrialist could always just decide to rise up and unite - build for our friends and corps only and then watch the market prices rise and supplies dwindle :)

Anyone who gets petitioned for harrassment for killing this guy , should quote the above post to the relevant GM. He (?) is very openly inviting people to come kill him , therefore he has no basis to start crying when they do kill him ( would be a bit like sending written invitations to a party at his place then phoning the cops and reporting the guests as trespassers , bit tarded really ). |

The day CCP so much as slaps me on the wrist for attacking someone in game for any reason at all is the day I quit playing eve. Nobody needs a reason to suicide his ship and there's nothing wrong with doing it. That's the whole point, and the whole reason he looks like such an arse.
None of this ever had anything to do with mining. Most people agreed with his OP actually.

Celestal, Have you even read my OP? This has nothing to do with me getting ôgankedö. In fact, I have never been killed in Eve while mining. Ever. I love it when people try to gank me and Concord comes and kicks them out of their ship. Its hilarious. They get so angry at me, they start calling me names, insulting me and threatening me. That is when they get banned.
When you call someone names and threaten someone with violence that is when people get banned. Get it now?
Ladyah Liandri, And you are? Ahh, a band wagoner. "Everyone is attacking Savvon, I must get a punch in too!"
I fail to see what that thread you linked has anything to do with this topic. Except that you are trying to discredit my opinion because I disagree with that other poster.
However, since you brought it up, yes, I am against people begging for money for their outdated site while bashing on Google at the same time while spreading false facts about a company. Also, anyone that reads that post with a level head can obviously see I just gave my opinion and got ganged jumped. I am sorry, but I will defend my stance against ignorance.

The reason they might is because to go after someone in game because of something OUTSIDE of game, is by definition griefing. Now if it is something that they did INSIDE of game, different story Basically what he is appearantly trying to do is get people to threaten or post in this thread, then use it as evidence of griefing because they are "attacking" him because of out-of-game reasons.

Just petition the goits, the moment they start, bang out that petition. If there's one thing I've learned... threats are useless. Trust me. You wouldn't beleive the crap eejits come out with when threatened with being reported.
(Nobody should suffer the crap you're putting up with)
if someone is verbally abusing you, petition, however if it's just ore thieves, well they can easily be avoided by mining in groups and having decent hauler pilots. if you sit there in your hulk, mine away, then dock, hop in your own hauler, and then haul a full jet can, well it's your own fault, and you deserve the loss of your ore as a "stupidity tax"
my corp are a mainly industrial corp, we work together and if we return to highsec to mine, we have haulers on standby at all times, usually in the belts with us, emptying the can as it's filled. the most ore thieves get is one or two cycles worth of ore. ========================================== Iy

If the GM thinks it is harassment, then the GM should do something about it. However, I have never and will never see the act of stealing something from a jetcan to get a miner to aggro them as being harassment. Didn't Kehmor quit Eve? Had a thread in C&P?
On a sidenote, Carebear != whiner.
Isn't a carebear really just someone who is afraid of losing their pixellated assets? Those people manifest themselves in many forms: Some stay in empire, some roam 0.0 in massive blobs because there is safety in numbers.
*shrugs* I'll throw down with anyone, anytime, just for a good fight - most forum warriors and in-game PvPers are loathe to take up that challenge because they don't have friends to back them up.
Point being, carebear isn't a slur because it literally applies to 95% of the community.

I disagree. Destruction of assets by any fair means is fair game, regardless of whether the dispute originates in-game or out-of-game.
In fact, I have not yet heard of an instance where a griefer in EVE was punished by a GM, other than an exploit being involved. In what cases have the GMs actually punished people for such "crimes"?

Meh there are always people outthere who think there way of playing is the only good or even think its the only true way of playing eve, offcourse this is a big pile of damp cow excrement and everybody should play the way they feel like it as long as they do not force others to play their way.
i've started this game in 2004 as well, i've been a miner for along time, i've been running mish for a long time, i've been manufacturing stuff, researching stuff i even started doing some exploration (allthough that is very very boring to me) i did the 0.0 thing, i did the low sec solo mining thing i did the pvp thing (allthough i noticed i suck at beeing a pirate cuz i feel sorry for the victims, yeah i'm a carebear so sue me).
Now i live in empire, i run mish, sometimes i mine a bit, i'm not bugging anyone and i like it that way. If people have a problem with what i'm doing then mebbe it's them who need to find a new game

I mostly mine/mission and manufactor +trade. I like it. What I don't like, is people thinking their 15 a month are worth more than mine. And then tell me to "play their way, and go 0.0 and be their victems. As the guy above me said, It's not me who should "go back to wow" so to say.

I love how everyone is taking a shot at analyzing me. Diagnostics from forum psychologist are always welcome.
The facts: I stated my opinion that I am sick of being harrased while minding my own business mining.
I have been constantly bombarded ever since in game and on the forums.
People have followed me in other threads with the usual insults, Eve mailing me in game and trying to suicide me.
More facts: I have 2 attempts of suicide ganking on Fraps and one of which is a Ferox. He was podded by the way.
When you insult and/or call me names, you will be reported.
I will defend my point of views and not lay down while bullies kick me. You might think this is anger, but in fact, its simply a person who stands tall against bullies.
Everyone knows where I am mining for the next few days. I invite anyone of you to come and try to suicide me.
The only thing you will get is laughed at, Frapped and podded.

if you want a place to mine in peace, just run a few missions. there are a few level 3 missions with decent amounts of omber and are not even a "deadspace". But many have large amounts of veldspar if you want to mine that too. For example, Downing the Slavers (2 of 2) has 400k units of omber in the first room. there is also exploration, which usually provides better ores anyway.
generally, with a little effort, i find it easy enough to avoid mining in the public asteroid belts entirely.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
I dont hate miners , everyone plays the game on his own way.
Unfortunatly eve is filled with stealing , scamming and smacking scum.
Thats one of the reasons i devoted me to be antipirate , now and then i hang out in lowsec hunting some bastids , if people in trouble see me in local they can always drop me a line and i will gladly try to help them out.
I once had reports of a high sec system infested with orestealers , i was abit bored and putted my alt there mining with my main on a close safe aligned , what followed where fireworks all night
Anyway Savvon dont listen to some of the kids around here , do what you want to do and try to have fun.
May the light shine upon ur path..
It has gotten so bad I just use a Hulk with cargo extenders in high sec. 3.Constant PMÆs asking if I am a bot or if I am ôthereö. Some PMÆs just calling me derogatory names assuming I am not at the keyboard. I turned off my PMÆs. 4.Eve hate mails saying I am ruining the game but never telling me how. 100% agree. I have seen this stuff happen while flying my transport alt through empire(not to mention talk in npc corps), its just not acceptable. You can kill people or wardec them, steal from them or whatever, but dont attack someone personally just cause you dont like the way he spends his time in eve. You simply have no right at all to do so and getting reported for harassment is the least you deserve.
Honestly, enemies who have been fighting each other for years in 0.0 treat each other better than some random strangers in empire do.
If you dont have something good to say, its better to say nothing at all.
P.S.@Savvon: Since im just a alt i can safely advise you to look for a any 0.0 alliance without looking like trying to advertise my own. 0.0 is not just about pvp, you can avoid that in some industrial alliances(not to mention industrialists actually get appreciated if you cant just buy ships and mods on market, built me shiny toys pls), 0.0 is mainly about the people and moving there will mean alot less hassle with assheads.
Thats what is called harassment(own category in petitions). It completly depends on how the GM sees it, generally you can get away with alot if you keep it incharakter, but if you start to aim your namecalling at the person behind the PC you get into trouble.
Calling a amarr that tried to suicide you a bloody slavedriving religious terrorist you might get away with(i would like to say will get away with, but obviously i cant give out guerantees), but calling a muslim IRL a bloody slavedriving religious terrorist is most likely going to get you into a convo with a GM pretty fast(if they actually bother to convo people before handing out warnings and bans).
It is not the profession that is receiving the hate. Its the person behind the character. Basically if you act like a tard and persist on being an asshat, then you are going to get some unwanted attention. (Or wanted in your case apparently)
Also I read a passage where you were bragging about your skills and challenging other folk to try to gank you. Dude... How can you whine about people messing with you when you are challenging your would be "aggressors".
You are in a one man corp and I think I know why. No one wants to put up with you crap. It was suggested that you come out to 0.0 space and join an alliance. Let me save you some trouble. Don't, you will not last 2 days...and most likely you will end up with a KOS.
Figured it was something like that, good I say.
I was just wondering, as lately, the forumers' reaction seems to state other wise "badmouthing me this,", "calling my mom a ho that" etc. I, for a moment, readning the forums sounded like there was no policie against such form of harasment. If people bothered spend as much time to petition people (lets say the immature people) that call people names/insult them irl as they would spend making a whine treath on the forums, eve would be a place with mature people and no kiddies! (hey, you're a kid in your head if you cant behave rationatly by calling people names/insult themselves/family/friends irl)
It's pretty simple Savvon. The miners are rich and the PvPers are broke all the time. If the PvPers have money it's because they either mine or produce with alts or live off of the work of others. PvPers are just too darn lazy.
I've only had problems with one guy trying to fire on me when I was mining in high-sec ( 0.9, I believe) space when I was mining about five/six months ago when I first started. Naturally, the guy got his pod handed to him by CONCORD. Pretty funny to watch, once I got over the initial, "What the -- hey, who's shooting at me?!" reaction.
Mining is fun.
Getting into and out of low sec with your ore load is absolutely one of the greatest rushes in the game for me. What a feeling of victory to know I evaded some pirate and got away.
Also, since it's a game... some of you whining miners ought to chat some of these pirates up a bit. They are just people like you and me playing a game- I've had some great conversations. I've even made friends.
Sure I lost a ship here or there- but in the final analysis these guys end up buying ships I make.
Play it like a game and the game won't play you. Try being creative with your strategies...
If you aren't havign fun... it;s time to move on.
1) wow shatner, great post ;) 2) i bet he says "podded" as in "ship went pop, pilot put into pod" imho thats correct, or we wouldnt have a way to distinguish "podkill" and "bein podded". but yea. opinions vary on that and im completely aware how most people use "podded"
altough i think the majority is wrong on this one ;)
Right. If the CNR is afk, on autopilot to a gate, with those faction mods inactive.
And right, a Hulk could probably also be ganked "by the same tactics".
I've been playing this game for several months now, and can honestly say I have not once been harrassed! I'm starting to feel really left out now.
So, if I don't get some decent harrassment RIGHT AWAY , I'm going to :
a) Quit b) Give all my stuff to the first person who asks for it, and c) Go and play WoW.
Savvon, i'd take it in the ass if i were you and live with it. You wanted to share your story with the populace but whats the point. The great thing about eve is that its like the real world, not everyone is going to be nice, im sure you know that when you started playing. For some reason people have "singled you out", what can you do. You came here seeing help or what? If your in a bad neighborhood what do you do? Move. There lots of 0.0, change your style of playing ect. Symple. CCP wont do anything unless more people start complaining, so how many choices do you have! Think. You asked for help and now you got it (several times i believe) so take it and leave. I honestly dont know if you are here for consolation or attention, but have fun. Go ahead and start trading or missioning, try something new. Some people will always be bad but what can you do, take it and dont let it bother you. Besides, you can rarly stop someone from hating you by talking to them.
I get harassed occasionally, but the easiest way to deal with it is when you see them approaching your op just say in local:
"Hey <insert player name here>, I'm not a macro and don't feel like fighting today. Can you please go bother someone else?" Then pull everything from the can so it pops.
They almost always reply back (and nicely too) and then go bother someone that isn't actively talking to them. Doesn't work all the time, but the majority of the time it does.
If it doesn't work, you move to another system. If they follow you, THEN you petition them for harassment. <-----------> Factional Warfare:
This thread half makes me wanna laugh, half makes me wanna cry.
Its good testament to how poorly people behave when can they hide behind anonymity and 0 chance of meaningful retaliation. If some of you actually went outside into the real world, you'd realise you'd get the sh** beaten out of you in real life for acting or talking the way you do here.
Its strange how eve attracts a much older and more mature audience than other games, and has generally a better player population, and yet still attracts so many rude pathetic little scroats as well.
I love how "noob" is such a harsh insult for some, as if being crap at an internet spaceship game is the worst thing possible - as opposed to being a shut-in living in their parents basement, playing a game all day trying to inflict as much hurt on others because of their pathetic existance, just trying to drag others down or try and have some sort of effect on someone or something.
I'm not talking about pirates / pvpers / people that are bastards in-game, just the rude little toads who come here or play eve because they're own lives are lacking. I cannot imagine how f***ed some of their lives must be if they need to be such rude abnoxious worms. Seriously boys and girls, go outside, take a deep breath. Repeat after me, being a t*** to people in a game or over the internet does not make up for your sorry little life. Sort it out, and you won't feel the need to behave like a worthless bitter little scroat.
In response the the OP, I think people don't understand the fact eve needs miners, traders, manufacturers etc to actually work. Unless everything became totally NPC provided (halving the compexity and depth of the game) no one would pew pew because everything would cost so much. Supply and demand means that if all the miners left, their ships and modules would cost 10x as much, and when they did manage to purchase something, they wouldn't be able to find anyone to shoot with it because everyone would be so afraid to put their ships in harms way. The people doing the legwork, such as mining, facilitate the pvp environment.
Less miners, manufacturers, missions runners = less pew pew
Also I think a lot of people fail to see the difference between macro miners (who's harm to the game is overstated I feel, they are more an annoyance, unless someone with ecnomoics knowledge can maybe explain otherwise I have an open mind about this one) and normal players that mine. Also people for some reason seem to dislike others whos playstyle is different to their own, funny since they are probably the sort of players that would least enjoy the game is it was entirely populated by others like them. One of the joys of the game is the fact there are so many different approaches and playstyles that are viable.
Yes I agree with you to a point. There are little "toads" that try to full fill some empty void they have because their life sucks. Well so be it, thats their problem, and slowly but surely the community weeds them out or they do it themselves.
Now the OP started out with a reasonable complaint. But after reading it a couple of times some thing was missing, he was not telling all. But who am I to judge, he brought it up and it is what it is.
After reading his responses his true behavior started to show until it was evident that he has manipulated the situation. Players that were siding with him was slowly pulling away as the thread continued...his charade was coming undone.
In the middle of the thread it was pointed out that the OP's posting in other threads were not very cordial or very social. Now his character is becoming a little more clear.
He is one of those people you spoke of that should go outside and take a big breath. Because he was after attention to fiil the void in his life he was not obviuosly getting.
This thread actually is not about "miners" or any other profession. Its about a players behavior with in the community.
Baaldor (or should I say Desktop psychologist?),
It is human nature to try to label a person whom personality and/or characteristics you do not understand.
I have been labeled many things in this thread from positive to negative.
When people do not understand something, a concept, a person or a system people tend to over think and over "analyze" and then draw conclusions that are created from assumptions.
I will say it again (though it should be obvious), I was annoyed by the growing number of griefers. I came and vented on the forums. People replied with irritants. I got irritated. I defended my stance and got in a verbal exchange with many who have not even read my OP.
It is that simple.
Anyone else that wants to add falsities to the fact or wants to label me so they will feel more comfortable in this situation are nothing more then bored, sad little people who need more nurturing from family or friends.
Savvon,
You have to know, especially if you have been around since '04. That griefing to a certain extent is to be expected. And you should also be fully aware if you start a thread or even participate in a thread in Eve-O you are fair game for anyone with half a thought and an ounce of malice.
Now if you are getting a lot of hate mail and unwanted attention you have to stop and ask your self why. Sometimes the questions you ask your self is the hardest.
Now as far as my self,..yea i get the local smack or hate mail quite often. But I look it as a part of the game and realize that my actions and of course the folk I fly with will draw that type of attention to me.
Hate mail and smack talk in local perfectly fine with in game parameters. If it starts reaching the the home front out of game...then there should be something done about that. i.e the banning of a certain well known pirate that crossed that line...and now is playing hello kitty I suspect.
No i am not a desktop psychologist. (That made me laugh.) Just observations I have made.
And to get an understanding from a fictional character in a make believe world flying pixled space ships? You have to be kidding.
The answer to this should be obvious. Miners break their hard-boiled eggs on the big end, contrary to the royal edict from CCP (which, oddly enough, nobody has ever seen but is discussed endlessly on the forums) that all hard-boiled eggs be broken on the little end. If this isn't a reason to hate all miners and eat their children, I don't know what is.
So far, I've agreed with:
Gentle Glide, who simply said "No." Curzon Dax, for noting that carebear != whiner, and there are a lot of carebears in this game. Falcyon, who said that "destruction of assets by any fair means is fair game." General Coochie, for noting that the Savvon's attitude in post-OP posts are the source of malice towards him. D'Insane Shatner, who said to "play it like a game." Malcanis, who agreed with D'Insane Shatner. Baaldor, who expanded upon the point brought up by General Coochie earlier.
However, I disagree with:
General Coochie, because posting in this thread is not embarrassing. Your posts in particular have been very intelligent.  Herculite, because I think there are many non-mining carebears, non-carebear whiners, non-whiner miners, etc. Geico Insurance, because you didn't help me save money. ---
Thing is that in mmo called EVE if you have some kind of confrontation with another player, you don't necessarily hate him or her. I see many people who are not able to draw a clear line between a computer game and real life assume a relationship of causation. If he undercut me on the market, if he pirated me, if he stole my ore - he must hate me in real life for reasons x,y,z (insert some bogus reasons here). This is not so. Players get assault you, steal from you, undercut you because it is fun to win, and it is not because those other players wish you to go die in a ditch.
So do ore thieves and suicide gankers hate you miners in real life? Are they all just pathetic individuals sitting in parent's basement wishing to inflict pain and suffering on everyone else out there? Or is it that your brains are just so fried playing EVE so long that you actually assume that everyone who steals your ore absolutely must hate in real life your guts and your play style?
I've done my share of ore thieving and miner ganking. And I can say that I love every single one of you miners. You guys are a great source of entertainment for myself and sometimes challenging opponents. In any confrontation that I had stealing ore, if I won, I felt good about it, and if I lost, I felt respect for the miner who was able to trick and kill me without smack.
Frankly even reading this thread it is clear that miners love ganking ore thieves too. Sure sometimes ore thieves might intrude at moments when you wish for peace and quiet. But if you just want to be left alone, how about you don't log on to MMO game full of other people who want to play with you, but rather sit home and read a good book or watch TV?
As for stereotypes that other people have for miners, I must say that those are at least partially true. Take the OP for example. He's been playing since 2004 and is making 4 bil a month and thinks this is a fast growing fortune. Not to brag here but I have to be honest to make a point - I have been playing for exactly one year, and right now with two characters that have a bit over 1 mil sp each, make total of 8-12b monthly. My boyfriend who has accompanied me on many ore thieving excursions has made about 85b averaging nearly 20b per some months. Neither of us has ever bought a single GTC to sell for ISK and yes we do have jobs in real life. Between us two I think the perception is that if carebearing is about making money, then miners don't make good carebears. Attribute it to lack of imagination or laziness or tendency to go out and do simple repetitive stuff or whatever. This is absolutely no reason to hate miners, but it reinforces the general miner stereotype.
If you mine as your main source of income, sorry it's not the best type of carebearing. So I hope all of your miners understand that when people say "slowly dripping fortune" they actually mean it. Miners simply do not excel in carebearing if carebearing means money-making low-risk activities.
What I said above might be just my own personal case, but miners please don't think that everyone who has come to flip your ore must really wish to inflict pain on you, because it is simply not true.
Edited by: Empyre on 08/08/2007 00:22:20 it's part bully syndrome (the part that actually convinces people they are cool by picking on people that are much weaker than themselves) and part lynch-mob syndrome. this is where people stop thinking and practicing basic logical functions. as it results here in eve, some people are too lazy and/or stupid to actually try and figure out if someone is an actual player or not.
short answer? too many people are stupid in this world. i blame my president.
That's true, all girls playing EVE are just cross-dressing guys using voice change software to communicate to others. Now I'd rather think that we girls really do play EVE than have the above image in my mind
And to dispell some myths miners have about ore thieves:
Myth #1: People gank miners because they are jealous of their fortune. Carebears make a lot of ISK and pvpers secretly hate them for it. In reality: Not a single pvper I have known has ever confessed his secret hate for carebears because they are just so stinking filhy rich. In fact, many pvpers have characters that they use to carebear on the side. Others sell GTCs and are thus also not desperate and in debt. Sometimes you see ore thieves going for young players in retrievers and covertors. They are clearly not doing it because they are jealous of the small fortune those guys have in their wallets.
Myth #2: Ore thieves all suck in PVP. They are rejects from real pvp groups and can't get any real action, so they pick on weak opponents who carry mining lasers instead of guns. In reality: Newbie ore thieves are mostly after your ore as source of income. They are not looking for pvp. Older players do it for some fun. There are different types of pvp in game and players try different things out for variety. When you flip cans, you become flagged to the entire corporation. This might mean 5 guys vs you alone with no backup gang. Some miners actually try to bait ore thieves, put in nastry traps for them. Some miner chracters are run by pvpers trying to make ISK on the side, and these guys often know how to hurt you. So ore thieving is not a zero risk pvp activity. Also, low sec is very often quite empty and devoid of targets. High sec is crawling with covetors and hulks. So lets see here ... empty low sec systems with mission running macroes being the only things alive there ... vs high sec teeming with life and real players who'll actually try to confront you ... hmmmm, not a tough choice for anyone looking for some casual solo fun.
Myth #3: PVPer really hurt only themselves when they pick on miners. Miners produce minerals and build ships for pvpers to buy, so PVPers should just respect that and leave miners alone. In reality: PVPers reduce competition for you and your minerals out there on the market. Like wolves picking off sickly animals, they pick off the not to bright and resourceful miners. They take their ore, gank their ships, and as result supply of minerals decreases which is a good thing for any other miner who can stand his own. And btw, without us pvpers trying to kill anything that moves, losing ships and mods, who'd buy your mineral from you? Miners needs pvpers just like pvpers need miners, and one should not despise what the other does in game.
Have a nice day! :D
After all this time you have been playing it is nice to know that you still have no clue.
Btw, you are welcome for all the help you have received from me in the past. Thank you for repaying me with insults and a low grade attitude. Guess that is what I get for helping people.
A simple thank you would of been nicer though.
Why don't you come and try it port?
Oh dont worry, im on my way, it will just be in my time when im ready and on my terms as I have already stated on the forums, im currently busy elsewhere.
A lot has changed since we last spoke. If your after thanks for the help you gave me when I first started the game, sure, thank you for your time, effort and advice. Would you like me to refund you the 20 or so million isk? Im sure it will be usurped from the wreck of your extremely overpowered Hulk, Raven, Phoenix? Gratification enough for your oversize ego?
However, any thanks I do provide will not clear you of your bad attitude that is clearly shining through by the multiple comments from other people in this thread towards you.
It is clear, it is not I that has no clue, but it is infact you Savvon. I have brought port22 back from -8 sec twice in the time you have been out of game. I dont mine.
Enough talking, I will not be replying to any further posts in this thread from you or anyone else. I will be letting weapons do the talking from here on in. See you on the battlefield Savvon.
War Dec inbound. Please dont back out on me and leave your corp for an npc corp to avoid the war, that is petitionable dont you know ;)
Anyone want to bet that Savvon will be out of his 1 man corp (like the 3? 4? others he has started in his Eve Career) before this thread gets locked?
Shall we start a pool? Maybe with 1 mil per alt to wager, and you must pick a set date and time for his corps untimely loss of its current CEO.
This thread does deliver.
Edited by: Savvon on 08/08/2007 04:16:12 Port22, You (and people like you) are the reasons why I do not help new players out anymore. You are the type of people who bite the hand that feeds you. Bring your lack of experience. I will pod you myself and will even sacrifice my Hulk (I have many) to make sure you lose everything on your character if you attack me in high sec.
In the end, it is people like you that ruin communities and hurts MMO companies. Who wants to be new in a game when the community treats people like people like you treat people?
To all those that call me misguided and insults me:
Read the forums here. I am ônegativeö in two posts (and the other post is because people followed me from this post and started in on me) and am labeled the ôhatedö in Eve. Read the other peoples post history (the ones that have called me names and is hunting me in game) . They are in numerous post smack talking, insulting and breaking CCPÆs rules with over half their post. Post I am not even a part in. Hypocrisy in its finest (you know, do as I say?).
What these little digital bullies cannot handle is, when someone like me comes in and smacks them down. Once their tiny egos get hurt they label, insult and huddle together to try to ôterminateö the threat. In this case, the threat is me.
If you do not have the drooling, ignorant mob mentality, you will read my OP. You will see who got insulted first. You will see who breaks CCP rules and who does not.
Most of you are talking about stealing ore. I never, not once complained about people stealing my ore. I load up my Hulk and fly back. Most of you do not even know what this post is about because you are too busy insulting me, saying I have a bad attitude and band wagoning other posters hate for me.
Most of you guys are defending people who have insulted me numerous of times and insulting me for defending myself after being slandered constantly in game and out.
It is amazing that the moderators have not taken action against these rule breakers. If these boards where moderated better, then we would start to have a civil board.
My attitude is bad towards people who try to bully me. In life, I had a bully when i was a child and he met the busy end of a roll of quarters. After the wires came out of his jaw (and a suspension), he apologized and I later found out his Father beat him on a daily basis.
This is what I think of every time someone insults me. Meaning, even though some of you annoy me, it does not make me angry at any of you (which is funny, because all of you think I am angry right now), in fact, it makes me sad for you because I know that there are things that make you like this that are beyond your control and beyond mine.
In conclusion: If you want to try to kill my Hulk, insult my wife, mother and children, wish I would go play WoW or form groups to kill me because I have an opinion and stand up to bullish behaviorà
So be it.
And I'm the one with problems.
More threats? Stand in line.
People like you need to read the entire post and see who started attacking first. However, that would require intelligence and it is much easier to jump on the hate Savvon band wagon then to do any valid research into the subject.It is obvious Port22 came into this thread with gloves on (and like you, very late in the topic)but you will not see that because like most here, cannot read more then two words without going hormonal.
Here are some of the declared wars on my one man corporation (the reason why I have a corporation is that it makes organizing my things easier if I have a corp hanger). Keep in mind, these wars were declared on me for defending myself against verbal abusive attacks.
2007.08.07 19:39 Axe Gang has declared war on The Free Mining Coalition. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.
2007.08.08 01:25 Top Gun industries demands 40 million ISK are we are going to declare war on your 1 man corp. You have till Sunday till respond before we declare war. Good luck.
2007.08.07 19:47 Rolls Mining Factory has declared war on The Free Mining Coalition. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.
I wonÆt bother posting the Eve hate mail I have gotten that have threatened me and my family and all the things that they want to do to me, my wife and my children. I don't think that would be appropriate since 10 year olds can play this game legally.
Note to any PvP corp: If you are in a corp that like to declare wars on many corps so you can kill them to make ISK of their ships, let me know, I will join. I have many corps here that want a "fair" fight and I would like to give them one.
Again, you are throwing around insults and assumptions at other people without any justification. I clearly stated you are making a fool out of yourself on the forums. Your response is clearly concrete proof of this.
The comment regarding 'you dont know who you are dealing with' was aimed at port22 v savvon. I know who my money is on.
Port actually called you a general all round nice guy in one of his previous posts and yet you continued to insult him and others. This is why you are receiving war decs from multiple corps, because you are writing cheques your mouth cant cash.
You may be a 2004 character, but it is clear and evident you have a lot to learn in how you interact with others in this medium and what you can get away with and what you cant. Maybe this situation will teach you something, maybe not. The hardest lessons are self learned.
Most corps wouldnt bother war decing your one man corp because the profit made from one person would not be worth the effort. You have to ask yourself, why would these people go to these lengths to pop you?
The fact you are now asking for help in your own way in the last part of your response makes me chuckle. You now understand the gravity of running your mouth off at people in forums is like loading a gun and putting it to your head.
And yes you did run your mouth off.
schwarzes Schaf, It is bullies like you who defend low class players like port22 that hurt this community.
Look at your posts to me. They are filled with twisted words and spins and you try to come across like a "good guy". What people like you will never see is that many people are more intelligent then you give them credit for and can see through your BS. And there is a lot of it.
I am not asking for help. I am in an NPC corp now and am immune to war declaring griefers. I am offering my services to any PvP corp because I am in the mood to do some PvP so people like you can chuckle on the end of my big cruise missiles.
So are you happy now that you got your digital punches in? Care to derail my topic even more?
I will admit this is somewhat off topic, but I have a question for Savvon (and anyone else who can offer advice, tips, etc.).....
I am a new player to Eve... 41 days in now. I have done pretty well just running missions, ratting, doing complexes...even done some low lvl (for me 0.3-0.4) ratting just to see what it was "all about."
Every once in awhile, when I get a Storyline mission, it asks for me to gather "resources for the war effort." These resources range anywhere from 1500 m3 Scordite to 7500 m3 Omber (for a lvl 3 mission storyline I did).
I can do it....but one problem I am seriously running into is the fact that high lvl areas where I can find this ore (0.7 and above) are practically strip mined out of existence...which is extrememly frustrating to the point that the last mission I had to get 7500 m3 Omber, I spent over 2 hours flying around every system I know of that had Omber and couldn't find one rock (but a bunch of yellow cans)....I gave up and had to buy off of the market....when I could have just mined it myself. (Yes, I could have looked longer....but we all would like to do things other than fly around to 30 systems looking at empty/near empty asteroid belts)
Again, pardon my ignorance for asking this and correct me if I am wrong....but it is my understanding that Capital ships are not allowed in 0.7 and above space (Carriers, Dreadnaughts?, Titans)....so can't something be done to limit strip mining of ...say....0.7, 0.8 systems and above so that newbie players like myself actually can go to asteroid belts with real asteroids in them?
Again, pardon my newbness and I await any and all comments to this query.
On second thought, you are so far down the line of the current lynch mob, I won't even bother trying to defend myself against your ignorance.
Everything you have said has already been said at least twice in this thread.
I have not and do not disagree with your original post. Your a miner, you have as much right to play this game and enjoy it as anyone. Talking to port22 it is clear he shares the same opinion as me.
My thoughts here are my own, and are not part of a lynch mob nor are they anyone elses for that matter.
You are responsible for your own actions. Take ownership. You got yourself into this situation by snapping back at people and generally insulting them in your own thread. Not everyone will agree with you opinion, yet you posted a flame bait topic. I doubt there would be many that would diagree with my impartial (at least as impartial as I can be) opinion on your situation.
The only insult I am guilty of is stating you are making a fool of yourself by the way you are acting. Yet you respond with comments like my limited intelligence. Port22 is a very level headed person. He stated you were a nice guy but have an ego problem by example of the thread title and the fact you were baiting people to come shoot you, obviously trying to prove something.
You clearly cannot see past your own ignorance. And i feel sorry for you. But you reap what you sow and you have sown much.
Keep us informed and let us know how things go.
If anything I admire your ability to not deter from your beliefs.
The reason the belts are empty is because HighSec is overcrowded. Capital ships like Carriers and Dreadnaughts aren't allowed to be built or moved in High Sec anymore, but they don't mine anywhere near as much as dedicated mining barges anyways.
Best bet for those storylines is to find the best price you can within 5-6 jumps and just purchase the minerals. You run storylines for the faction increase, not the profit margins  <-----------> Factional Warfare:
I can do it....but one problem I am seriously running into is the fact that high lvl areas where I can find this ore (0.7 and above) are practically strip mined out of existence...which is extrememly frustrating to the point that the last mission I had to get 7500 m3 Omber, I spent over 2 hours flying around every system I know of that had Omber and couldn't find one rock (but a bunch of yellow cans)....I gave up and had to buy off of the market....when I could have just mined it myself. (Yes, I could have looked longer....but we all would like to do things other than fly around to 30 systems looking at empty/near empty asteroid belts)
Again, pardon my ignorance for asking this and correct me if I am wrong....but it is my understanding that Capital ships are not allowed in 0.7 and above space (Carriers, Dreadnaughts?, Titans)....so can't something be done to limit strip mining of ...say....0.7, 0.8 systems and above so that newbie players like myself actually can go to asteroid belts with real asteroids in them?
Again, pardon my newbness and I await any and all comments to this query.
The reason the belts are empty is because HighSec is overcrowded. Capital ships like Carriers and Dreadnaughts aren't allowed to be built or moved in High Sec anymore, but they don't mine anywhere near as much as dedicated mining barges anyways.
Best bet for those storylines is to find the best price you can within 5-6 jumps and just purchase the minerals. You run storylines for the faction increase, not the profit margins
Hisec is full of people like Savvon, who are the equivalent to the 40 yr old living in their parents basement, in EVE years. Here's an individual who's clearly made it past the 'know nothing' stage of the game, but insists on staying in the comforts of hisec instead of striking out on his own.
Hisec wasn't made for people to stay there their entire game careers, it was meant as a starting place, and we're starting to see the effects of this.
I'm sorry that our new player base has to suffer the mouth-breathing player base, that can't hack it outside of hisec.
I'm a high skilled miner, from my days in empire, now I PvP. But being able to mine is great; I find it relaxing and an easy way to replace ship losses in 0.0
Why people smack miners and ratters so much I don't get; as long as they're not leaching off other members of their corp or alliance, and do their bit, leave them alone to enjoy their game
I disagree with the "can't hack it outside of highsec" belief. Most of us play to have fun, those that don't probably feel they have too much "invested" to quit.
If someone thinks that constantly shooting/being shot at in LowSec or 0.0 politics/fleet combat isn't "fun", why shouldn't they be in HighSec? I've shot, been shot at, hunted, been hunted, mined (haven't tried Ore Theft), been stolen from, probed down mission runners for the curiosity factor, done research, etc. All within HighSec because I am a casual player and don't have the time or desire to mess around with LowSec or 0.0. The only time that this becomes a problem is when someone, carebear or other, believes that they are "better" than the other side and tries to force changes of behavior on them. Or smack talks badly
If HighSec wasn't intended to be the place that you lived, we wouldn't have as many systems, stations or any of that. And EvE would be empty and running off a 10 CPU cluster instead of 240 CPUs. If it still existed. <-----------> Factional Warfare:
No one is safe or exempt from the smack talking. Be it pirate, mission runner, miner...yada yada.
However in this case its not the profession he is in...its his interaction with the community.
...All within HighSec...
Exactly my point. You don't need to play 24 hrs a day, you don't need to play once per week, but you do need a desire to do more than live in Eve's "parent's basement" to experience all there is to experience within the game.
You contribute to the overcrowding and scarcity of opportunity for our new player base.
You help to paint the picture that Eve is "laggy" game because you don't leave hisec.
You also come in here and take exception when someone points this out. It's your money and your sub, do with it what you want, just don't dilute yourself.
?? What haven't I experienced... Fleet LagFests. Sitting at a POS for 20 hours killing it. Titans which I will never fly (ok, I would like to see one).
I contribute to their education. I give advise when they ask about fittings, I give advise when they get lost and can't find their way back, I give advise when they ask about missions and problems. I even give them some advise on preparing for LowSec/0.0 and point them in towards players that can help them more.
When did you help a new player last? I helped one yesterday....
Quote:
You help to paint the picture that Eve is "laggy" game because you don't leave hisec.
The only time I see "lag" is when I:
a) go to Jita (and I recommend to all new players to avoid it and give tips on how) b) Have the misfortune to be on a node that is sharing a 0.0 fleet battle (hardly an Empire problem) c) See constant messages of traffic adviseries (server is crashing)
So, how am I "contributing" to lag? Any player that is on the server contributes, regardless of where they live. Incidently, I have never been to Motsu so don't blame me for that mess either
No, I take exception to someone telling me how I like to play the game. When someone tells me that I am not playing the game "correctly" because I live in HighSec, I question what business it is of theirs to tell me where to live.
By the way, your home <insert name of city here> sucks, you shouldn't be alive if you aren't living in Tahiti and drinking Scotch and Pineapple mixes every night. You aren't "living" right. So move now or get off my planet  <-----------> Factional Warfare:
lol Flower Power indeed
Do a little searching, I've normally argued on the side of Pirates, Gankers and Ore Thieves and think they need to stay a part of EvE to keep it what it is.
Just because I don't participate doesn't mean I think they, and other things PvP, should be abolished Just don't try to convince me I'm playing wrong because I'm not participating in your method of play
Don't you like some times eliminate the competitors where you or your corp are mineing can wardec them or use main to steal ore from them this is eve is about to kill the competitors. If spend isk to remove competitor out of the way = more isk for you.
So miners unite fight the one standing between your goals. Report alt's orethieves so we can kill them
I hold no grudge against the pilots who have killed me and/or destroyed my ship and/or stolen my ore so far. On the other hand, in my personal experience, there have only been four such people in total. Easy to forgive four people. ---
