I've been to Agony's Basics and Wolfpack classes and found them fun and useful. I recommend their classes to all our recruits and have even paid the class fees for some of our newest members before because I think they're that useful. I learned a few things but, at least as importantly, had a ton of fun doing it. Things we learned were useful later on as well.

Hilarious, when you have flown as many Agony classes as I have (10-15 I think) and heard so many different voices, so many different players seeing 0.0 and trying PVP for the first time. A bit scary that you cannot find a better argument for your case than "they must be alts".
Come say that to me and my corpmates, who have completed Agony classes. Or just engage brain and close mouth.

Proof or stfu. I don't see anyone in this thread saying tri sucks. I've never heard any GODS members speak ill of tri.
Originally by: Brunswick2 Agony sucks
Personally I don't know them well enough to say anything bad about them. But from what it sounds like they are just another corp that sits their docked refusing to fight unless their is a 100% chance they will win the fight.
If this is true than I hope our guys are smacking them. It's a bull**** way to play the game. IMO people who play the game only to get good stats are ******* ********. If all a corp does is sit their docked until they can massively outnumber their opponents then they are not a pvp corp at all. Ganking does not = pvp.
Here's a tip for all you killboard stat *****s. Want your corp to have a great long term kill/loss ratio? Then fight at absolutely every opportunity you get. If you have any chance at all to win even if you only have a 25% to win then take the fight . Short term you might take some big losses, however long term it will make very skilled + make the game more fun for all your members. Getting in a fight and losing is usually still more fun than not fighting at all. The more experience you get having real fights the better you will become. The way you become a good (and fun) pvp corp is not to be a raging ***** only engaging if you know you wont lose. It's to get absolutely as much experience as possible fighting.
Originally by: Brunswick2 Fire Mandrill sucks
yep
Originally by: Brunswick2 So, who exactly do you guys have respect for?
For me personally Id say:
DICE Burn eden tri razor ( ) 4s corp ESA PANIC FREGE
But that's just my own person opinion. GODS members think for themselves and often our opinions differ on that topic. So their is no consensus on that one. We don't tell our members what they can/can't say unless their is a specific reason for it. So if you do something a GODS member thinks is lame then chances are they'll let you know about it. Doesn't always mean the whole corp shares that opinion.

From my experience in TRI, this is basically the opposite of what I've seen them do. I've seen them engage TRI gangs when the advantages were definitely in our favor, and they've done better than could be expected.

REGRETTABLY it is not a joke. I hear people saying things in local in x-7omu that would have at least earned them a stiff talking-to in the F-E gods. Its rather like finding out an old acquaintance you lost touch with has turned to drugs and crime. Bummed me out seriously because I used to have a lot of respect for you guys.

Ironic you calling him a lier since both you and GODS members appear on one of Rells' loss mails in X-7.

Outside of their home system with certain FC's this is a true statement. Agony's tactics depend entirely on who is the FC. I've seen them log 40 man fleets and run into dead end systems when they outnumbered their opponent. I've seen them avoid fights at all costs to keep their kill/death ratios shiny (cloaks on t1 frigs?). I've also seen some brilliant moves that if executed with your traditional 30m+ sp pvp players would absolutely own anyone out there. With their low sp players and their more rigid style of fighting I think they do a very good job with what they have, especially when roaming.
I do not however think they fight in a way I approve of in their "home" system. Understand this is not a criticism of just agony. A lot of alliances have this mentality that you should mobilize only if a direct threat is on your doorstep and otherwise their members sit afk not paying attention to threats in local or surrounding systems. I think this has to do more with station design and overall game mechanics than it does a particular alliance or corp's style of PVP.
The reality is that in station systems people bring out their cap ships. If you don't have capital superiority or a way to neutralize your enemy's cap superiority you will lose the fight every time. When I fought youwhat all they ever did was station hug and deploy carriers outside those massive caldari stations that make cap ships invulnerable. So they would bait or we would bait and they would deploy a cap ship and we would deploy a cap ship... more caps would undock... everyone would shoot at each other and redock... zzz
after a while you just don't give a crap if there are reds docked up with you because they don't actually want to risk anything they just want to gank.
To be fair, pure blind is a playground... like any npc region it's ripe with small gang pvp action. Agony know this and take full advantage of all the game mechanics there in.
One thing I will say about agony and a reason to take their course or even just have some fun in their corp is that NO ONE in 0.0 avoids getting ganked like agony pilots. They fly safe and smart and require really unconventional tactics to catch at gate camps. This is why their K/D ratio is as nice as it is. They only lose ships in PVP. I personally don't consider losing ships in pvp to be a loss myself.
The freedom to be who you want to be and play the game the way you want to varies from corp to corp... In my experience for new players freedom can do one of two things... you will either be able to explore your abilities in pvp without someone telling you that you are doing it wrong and flourish in that freedom or you will stagnate and never learn anything because you feel directionless. This has to do with the different ways people learn. Think of how many people(myself included) flunked out of high school only to go on to collage and after school become brilliant in their field. These people are out there and they are not the majority. I'd not learn much of anything from agony's particular style of teaching. For 90% of eve players out there... this is the class you should be looking into. It has nothing to do with anyone being a "better" pvper it's totally about the way you learn.
There are a great majority of players that are in desperate need of at least an agony basic course.
I won't comment about the agony/gods thing as anyone fighting station wars in npc systems for anything other than learning the game mechanics and or having a bit of harmless light hearted fun is wasting their time.
Rell's moral superiority+Smack talk+forum=ehonor? I still don't know what ehonor is good for. Is that a faction laser crystal?

I partially agree with Jack Cannon. Agony is good if you like to be a passive fighter that is afraid of a good equal balanced fight. They will not fight if winning is questionable to my experience.. A territory holding alliance? Well they would die right away. A alliance with people that like to fly t1 destroyers and frigs? Guess thats for those people. Agony is great if your new to PVP and such I just dont see how peoples interests would maintain much beyond that level.

Why do all these self-proclaimed "We are teh ****zle and the rest suxors" Alliances / Corps take so much time and effort to explain why Agony sucks so badly and that we are not worthy ??

To be honest, I didn't learn much I didn't already know when I took PvP Basic. The whole class was more or less a review for me. (Like, I know what a Remote Sensor Dampener does already. I know the importance of transversal vs. turret ships. Etc.) But then again, that's why it's called PvP BASIC. However, there were a few times during the class where I said, "ORLY? I didn't know that!" but those were few and far between (I think maybe 2).
Granted, I had been playing Eve for over a year at that point.
Wolfpacks, on the other hand, was an eye-opener. Most people, myself included, had discounted the destroyers in Eve as usless metal coffins in respect to their PvP capabilities. Wolfpacks showed me otherwise, and looking back on my time thusfar in Agony, around 80% of my kills are in a destroyer. I love them that much, and rarely fly anything else.
In response to the "all you do is dock/run!" comments, and to no one person/organization in particular: We engage in battles we feel we will win. We could lose every single one of our T1 frigs/destroyers in a 20-man gang, but if we've killed a HAC or a battleship, we chalk it as a win. Why? Because we traded 20 x 1mil in ships+mods for your 150mil ship+mods. Sure, sometimes we have greater numbers, but depending on the makeup of our respective fleets, we may decide that the risk outweighs the reward, or we might simply have another objective we are trying to accomplish, and engaging you would either delay or prevent that.
In regards to not undocking... we do, when we've put our forces together and get some kind of plan to escape your multiple BS/Carrier/HAC gang camping. (Camping in one or two afk pilots doesn't count.) It's a seldom occurance to catch us when we don't want to be caught, especially outside our 'home' station. I'm sorry that I can't empathize with your lack of patience to be disappointed when you manage to kill little or nothing.
In any case, crying about why Agony doesn't engage you on your terms to suicide the entire gang is understandable. Funny, but understandable. :)

Passive you say? The last alliance/corp I was in I did more pos crap than anything and I only saw the tiny corner of the galaxy we were located in. All of you saying we dont engage are only thinking from your own perspective which is what we find funny. Ive been to muliple regions on far flung field trips since joining Agony. I get constant pvp action also. And weve certainly flew into many gangs that we dont have the numbers to take on but we do it anyway. If were not engaging you maybe its because we think that fighting "the same old way", is boring. And maybe we dont want to give smack talking a-holes the satisfaction. We'd rather go roaming around in gangs than fighting over npc stations. Personally I dont see how someone could maintain interest maintaining poses and holding territory and dealing with all the politics. Agony doesnt have or want territory and is purposely red to everyone. And as you can read we have alot of people that want to kill us. To me thats exciting.
