Foolish decision. You don't seem to be annoyed at CCP or the handling of the tournament so far so this make absolutely no sense. You are not "getting back at the trolls" like this, you're just caving in and they are most likely loving it.

Yet again, Seleene is full of excuses.
MC is a complete and utter failure time and time again. You disappoint me, Seleene. Try sucking it up and taking the blame for once.

I find it entirely mystifying that so many are unable accept that MC are withdrawing from the tournament because their continued participation no longer seems worthwhile.
This is not, as so many suggest, a failure of MC, but a failure of this community. No tournament is worth the disapprobation of your piers.

I didn't read all of the trolling posts, but I had to add my two cents...
I understand completely why MC pulled out of this tourney, and to be honest, I would have done the same in their position... The sheer number of smack and troll posts on these forums towards MC is disgraceful, and I think 90% of the EVE community should be ashamed of itself right now...
The community of EVE is, from my experience, much more mature than the communities of other games, but recently I'm not so sure this is true. Like Seleene said, the people of EVE-TV have done an awesome job of bringing something that's new and unique to any computer game. All these guys seem to recieve is abuse though, and that's just not on! I've been in the IRC channel, and the number of insults that fly about in there about the EVE-TV crew or the guys fighting is just insane!
I feel sorry for MC, and hope that the smacktards and flamers on these forums can grow up in the near future, or we're going to end up like TETSUO or /b/ forums...
Respect to MC for the decision they made, and you have my support, for whatever that means!

What is going on??
Why did MC withdraw from the tournament? As far as I understood they did rather well so far. Then I read in the thread here about heavy trolling and some *** flying around.
But what is the reason for that? What happened?
That is a bad thing, I liked the fights so far. Some were better than others but all nice. And it is really good to see some tactics and how they work or not and if they are countered and all such stuff. Makes it quite interesting!

Edited by: Rells on 04/09/2007 17:53:26 Its too bad MC felt the need to withdraw. I respect their organization a lot more than I respect the nameless trolls using disposable alts to flame others on this site. I wholeheartedly agree with their sentiment and opinion toward the trollers of Eve TV. I also agree with their disgust at the armchari officiating, the splicing of every little tiny error made by people on camera and the accusations.
There are a lot of children, if not in body, in mind, on this forum.
I for one don't need to post with a bloody alt. I have the courage to stand for what I say.
MC, I wish you the best.

I'll make this one post to clarify things a bit so people don't get the wrong idea -
After one hell of a lot of talking with my team captian and pilots today, I gave the go-ahead to have our team withdraw from the tourney.
If you spend some time reading this forum you will see a lot of people spending more time talking about points and crooked GMs than the actual matches. Instead of sportsmanship and people wishing each other well, itÆs just turned into something else. One of my pilots said this to me earlier today:
"Gah... Eve-TV forum is CAOD part 2!"
Seriously, what's up with all the anger in here, people?
ItÆs not the new format; we love it. ItÆs the players who canÆt for one second seem to cut the organizers a break. All the work CCP has put into this, and nothing is good enough? The OMG CHEATERS bandwagon is getting tired.
There is also the fact that the game we play has a dedicated TV show, yet a vocal minority of people spend more time telling them how ****ty it is than thanking them for something truly unique and awesome in the industry!
We extend our sincere apologies to those who wished to fight us. This isn't about the trolls 'getting thier way' either. Are we fed up with some of the smack? Hell, yes, who wouldn't be? Overall though, having been through two previous tournaments, the ôfeelö of this one just didn't grab my guys and gals.
We don't expect everyone to be happy about this; we expect some of you to probably be plain mad. I am sorry if you feel that way, but this sentiment has been building for a couple days now among the people who have put the most effort into organizing our teams. I couldn't ignore that or them.
So to show you appreciate how much the Eve-Tv guys do for this game, and to ccp for a an apparent unique and brilliant tournament, you decide to pull out?
That just makes absolutely no sense. And frankly doesnt even seem believeable. All of the tournaments have been the same tbh. This is no worse at all than any of the others. Just in others teams werent disqualified for absolutely ridiculus reasons. Seems your taking this game far to seriously.
At the end of the day, it is a game, oh opps, brought to many ships, just send 1 back. And, oh he obviously didnt see that the countdown was for the last match, and only a maulaus died, lets just start again.
Instead its as tight as **** and 2 teams just get the wind kicked out of them for tiny little innocent mistakes.
Dont get me wrong, i think the tourneys and Eve-tv are brilliant, but if anything, the only people ruining the tourny this time round is CCP. Not the players. If i remember rightly the first tourny some teams didnt even show up. Now we have all teams showing up in good spirit and even comedy acts like Derek.
This is by far the best tourny so far, from a spectators point of view. Your reason top back out absolutely baffles me.

No.
MC quiting is not the end of the world and a time for self reflection, depending on which side of the fence you're on you'll either be laugh your socks off at them and their adoring fans - or be sent into deep sadness and dispair due to their leaving and the ills that plague the righteous. Either way the tournament will continue, bad people will continue to alt spam, Trev will still be accused of wearing a wig and Stav/Angel will still continue to turn up in IRC at silly times of the morning drunk and be incredibly OH exploitable.
As long as the horrific boat violence continues, meh, whatever - it's all good.

Ofcourse if that was the reason, thats fair enough. But i dont possibly see how that can be the reason. What they arent having **** because of smacking and trolling on the forums? Stay off them then.
If that that was the case, they wouldnt enjoy the real game either, because its absolutely full of that. ------------------

arr to bad. i really enjoy watching the tournament and every fight less is bad. i wish i could grab a caracal (which i cannot fly lol) but any ship and just join the tournament.
i am quite new to eve compared to most other players but the tournament was so much fun for me. i think the tournament is very nice for every newer player to watch - it isnt real eve pvp but its very nice. especially the rules which make even t1 frigs valuable and stuff is very nice. i have to admit that missilie spewing and damps annoy after some time but hey there are some more matches to come.
anyways happy pew pew on the "real" eve battlefield.

I understand your decision to pull back out of the tourny but don't you think you hurt the people that have organized this and put lots of work into? MC is an alliance with a great history, great bunch of pvp's in there and without them the tourny loose a very good team. I don't like the flaming and *****ing about stupid point system aswell but to pull out coz of this is rly no option. Some people are talking how ****ty this tourny is but why do you support them and step down?
anyway, i wish you good luck in the next tourny

Tournament does inspire some odd reactions.
Despite nobody in the TV team being able to remember our name... (Pandemic beat us so hard we winked out of existance)... we've really enjoyed it.
We have spent alot of time trying to think of setups, we don't have alot of isk for fancy stuff... and yea we've lost twice.
People seem to think thats a bad thing? or that instantly my epeen has inverted because of it?!
We fought Pandemic Leigon and Ronin... Pandemic are *****ing pvp'rs and Snigg are practically legends in EvE.
Ronin are last years runners up and anyone who's fought them knows their no cake walk in regular pvp either.
People fail to understand i'm proud of my guys ... because we took part... we turned up and fought and tried to win.
We've two matches left and of course I believe we can win them - I have to.. but I know goons and EXA will be in no way easy to roll.
What i'm trying to get to I guess... Is we've no bad feelings for anyone- we've really enjoyed EvE Tv - even when they've been slating us (if you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anyone else)... and sure there is stuff we think could have changed/been done better .. but thats why its a repeated event - it evolves? As for people whinging about prizes - we hadn't even considered them, If it was a tourny for nothing but the chance to be on eve tv and fight people we've never fought we'd have still been straight on the signup sheet.
People need to take less for granted, and attempt to curb their animosity just a touch and they'll find that the overall community enviroment follows.
It doesn't need to be all love and hugs - but it could stand to be vaguely more civil on all counts between pretty much everyone.
