Surely not the 'We want it MOAR THAN YOU' mercs getting flustered over something everyone else is having to deal with?
Crazy. Next they'll be trying to suggest dictors are over powered.

I'll make this one post to clarify things a bit so people don't get the wrong idea -
After one hell of a lot of talking with my team captian and pilots today, I gave the go-ahead to have our team withdraw from the tourney.
If you spend some time reading this forum you will see a lot of people spending more time talking about points and crooked GMs than the actual matches. Instead of sportsmanship and people wishing each other well, itÆs just turned into something else. One of my pilots said this to me earlier today:
"Gah... Eve-TV forum is CAOD part 2!"
Seriously, what's up with all the anger in here, people?
ItÆs not the new format; we love it. ItÆs the players who canÆt for one second seem to cut the organizers a break. All the work CCP has put into this, and nothing is good enough? The OMG CHEATERS bandwagon is getting tired.
There is also the fact that the game we play has a dedicated TV show, yet a vocal minority of people spend more time telling them how ****ty it is than thanking them for something truly unique and awesome in the industry!
We extend our sincere apologies to those who wished to fight us. This isn't about the trolls 'getting thier way' either. Are we fed up with some of the smack? Hell, yes, who wouldn't be? Overall though, having been through two previous tournaments, the ôfeelö of this one just didn't grab my guys and gals.
We don't expect everyone to be happy about this; we expect some of you to probably be plain mad. I am sorry if you feel that way, but this sentiment has been building for a couple days now among the people who have put the most effort into organizing our teams. I couldn't ignore that or them. -

Sorry to see the MC withdraw , im sure the decision made was a difficult one and yes you are right some of the minority are behaving with the school yard point of view.
but the majority i believe accepts the GM decision(s) as it stands, people fail to realise volunteers made this tournament happen for the benefit of the Eve community, and volunteers in the Alliances have spent a lot of time organising their teams and work patterns to get max fun and enjoyment for all,
i hope the minority sits down and does some self reflection and realises that just for the sake of of their own personnal agenda's the tournament will missing a honourable and skilled Alliance and any win in the end will be lessened bexause of it.
MC i hope you reconsider but i understand why.

QFT! Seleene/MC, I could not agree more. That the tournament must sustain such a blow to the lineup is saddening but after all it's the alliance's decision to pull out- they have no obligation, and those who fail to remember while posting should be reminded that not only CCP/EVETV are doing a damn fine job but that the alliances are putting a lot of resources into putting on a good show. And it's simple logic: If the alliances stop appearing, there's no tournament.

Edited by: Admiral Fridge on 03/09/2007 23:11:43 EVE still has a lot more mature people playing it then some of the other MMO's I've played, but as all other games you will always have the smackers and whiners. The decision to withdraw is understandable, but it's sad to see such a good team leave the tournament because of the trolling.
I'd just like to say I really appreciate all the effort that has been put into this tournament, it's a great addition to the only MMO that has been able to keep me playing for so long. Also a lot of other people feel the same way that may not be posting on these forums. I for one already don't come to these forums much these days because of the same reason MC is leaving the tournament now.
Let's all hope some people will grow up some day.. Or go play WoW indeed.. _______________

I can understand them pulling out. There gaining nothing by fighting except giving the whiners/haters more ammo for there bull**** posts.
TBH its a sad day in EVE when after all the time, money and effort that the GM's/EVE Tv and teams have put it things are falling apart because of the immaturty of a minority of people.

actually it looks like he isnt. "We have no fun anymore, lets call it a day, its just a game afterall".
Sound attitude. Im sure more teams will pick it up if the community doesnt change. Which means prolly in the longrun that we wont see another densly populated alliance tourney if alot of the good ppl just pass.

Seriously MC, by doing this, you will probably encourage the small group to troll more..
What happened here, is a VERY small group of people spam the eve-tv forums. Yes those post suck, yes those posts belong in the COAD forums. But still, those are the people that are here on the internetz, and even spam under the broadcasts about the announcers not pronouncing a shipname right. But, that group is only like.. 1% of the people watching. Please, PLEASE MC, rethink about what you are doing. There are thousands of people out there that would like to see you fight, win, lose, whatever. As long as it's fun to watch, and the fights are good, they won't even post on the forums. (me being one of them)
It would be a shame to see such a known alliance leave from the tournament...
Tough. I respect your choices. If this is what you will choose, it's a pity. BUT not the end of the world. And in that case, see you guys next time in the 49- / FAT region

CCP have done awesome work on this tournament. It's been well organized, live coverage on EVE TV has been fantastic, I'm not a big fan of the announcers, but I'm there to watch the fights, so it doesn't matter much to me. What's vital to me is that CCP have done so much to make this as awesome as possible. CCP have done an excellent job on the setup and coverage. I never would have thought I'd sit at my PC and watch other people blow eachothers internet spaceships up, but I am. It's just that good.
To everyone calling foul play and conspiracy, that's a joke. There is no grand plan to screw any corp or alliance over, no one is being "targeted". With that said, officiating has been extremely poor. It seems like a lot of work has been put into defining the rules, but not the penalties. Basically it's a system where the first step is someone breaking the rules set down, and then a GM deciding what the penalty is depending on what he feels like.
It sucks, because it really defeats the purpose of the tournament, to have fun. A lot of this drama could have been avoided by a little sense of situation by the officials. It also sucks because it's the only flaw in an incredibly planned and run tournament, but it's a pretty big one.
Still, it doesn't overshadow the great work CCP has put into the tournament.

People really need to start to appreciate the work put into this. Eve is harsh so of course the tournament shouldn't be a damn pink unicorn carousel. If people do not obey the very simple rules of this tournament they should be punished, the rules state that the GMs can punish any infractions depending on how severe they view them.
I'm sad to see MC back out because they have had a solid performance in this tourney, but I understand Seleene and crew to attempting to roll the stone back in front of the trolls' cave.
I personally feel the TV crew have been doing a very good job given their resources and hope asshattery like this doesn't deter them from doing this again. Loads of kudos to the GMs and the CCP crew for actually attempting to do stuff like this for their players.
Be thankful that you're playing a game ran by people who actually care about it. Troll when TQ crashes but leave the fudgestorm at home when you're being done a favor.

I'm thoroughly not impressed. MC have basically withdrawn because the usual forum trolls were getting on their nerves? You just ignore them, like you do on any forum. You do not take the flamebait, and just get on with things.
MC loose a lot of respect from me for that. They may think they're making a statement about the state of peoples attitudes, but all they're really doing is hurting the people who take part in, work on, or watch and enjoy this tournament. The people who most certainly are not hurt are the forum trolls.
To put it another way- all this is is feeding the trolls on an epic scale. ------
