Yet again. I think this is the 3rd post ive made reguarding these forums.
Today when i logged into the forums i see more people spamming and all thats happening is the mods locking the topics being created meaning these alts just got make another topic adding again to the spam. Maybe its just me but I notice the same people spamming every day.
"Jamie 315", "Yet Another CAOD Inspired 1 Woman Alt Corp".
This is a prime example to name one. The rule on the forums is you can post if you have your corp name showing or your alliance name. Now what the hell is the point having a rule like that to prevent alts if the alt can then go create a corp to spam the forums.
Please.....I would like to see anyone thats abusing this rule or just constantly spamming new threads to just be removed from these forums. Basicaly what im trying to say is Mods are not being hard enough on these chatacters.
I realy did think the EVE community was alot more mature than this but day after day im proven wrong and im sure that alot of the other players who use the CAOD forums to find out what going on around eve will also agree with me.....

I'm using the Firefox plugin, and it's great. I don't even see their posts. If everybody uses it then they'll be gone.
Just double click on their corp/alliance/name and they're blocked.

The most sensible way of dealing with it, would be to restrict your account to one forum account. You'd still get alts but no where near as much.

tbh i was also going to mention the goons. but they are such a big alliance no wonder they have a good hundred spammers. 90% go goons are proly not to buy guys tbh just a select few.

Maybe the solution is found in adding the Allaince as requierment to the corp ticker rule. Wasting a Bil for the right to post her should do the trick. *****s joining up an Allaince can be weeded out with ease.

the real irritating thing is, some people in NPC corps/with corp not showing say really interesting stuff; but they just get their post removed and a forum warning and what more. while the annoyance to this forum just continues****ging arround.
i say the rules arnt working, everyone agrees?

CCP'd probably have to add a new forum just for alliances because people will moan because they're right to post has been taken away.

kick the alts, make a new forum for alliance discussion whit ticker as requirement,
and a new one for normal empire corps aswell, they been pushed out of COAD and need somehwere to post to. and bring back Jade!!

Completely agree. Time and time again I see people getting insulted by obvious alts, alliances mocked and just general annoyance by these obvious alts.
Mods, can't you warn and do something about those who are being a nuisance...not just the alts?
It's very hard to prove who is an alt. Ban the obvious ones and for those who are general idiots ban them as well. The forums are a better place without them.
To the bob guy pointing fingers at the goons, you cannot blame this on any single person or alliance to be honest. In my time on these forums, I've seen BOB, AAA, MC, goons and all other big names smacking. All alliances have their own idiots. Goonswarm is a huge alliance, they are bound to have more.

I don't mind the Goons, they at least post with their mains, and they have some pretty hilarious posts, sometimes. In fact, they have some pretty hilarious posts most of the time.
The alt posts **** me off, though, and the mods should start handing out bans left and right. Credit-card-wide bans. If you have James or Jamie 315 on your account, every account associated with that CC should be banned from the forums, permanently.
I don't think that's an extreme position, I think it's a necessary one.
And when certain Goons or anyone else crossed the line, give them a couple warnings, then do the same thing.

I think you all are barking at the wrong tree.
The mods got very little power, the rules are made by CCP and the forum are made by CCP both of them sucks.
the forum allow easy necromancy, allow people to post aginst the rules and all the **** a normal forum would allow the mod to automaticly block the fact that the forum dont do this mean it's one more thing the mod need to do by hand so less time for real mod work.
As for the rules, i am sure the mods would have love to use the bane stick much more often and be more hursh, but the rules are made by CCP and they have to follow them.
And don't forget CCP actualy decide that the mod are going to go away anyway and be replace with "somthing better" (i dont buy that line but that's the spirit of what they said).
If i post something smart it represent my corp and alliance all other posts are my feeling/ideas only and do not represnt the rest |

I'm afraid this is where you're going wrong. The only sensible thing to do is let go of the 'mature community' assumption about Eve-O, have a sense of humor, and allow yourself to giggle at ForumAltPoster's sig from time to time. I promise you'll feel a lot better about CAOD if you just give in to the idiocy of it all. :)

Because, after all, if this rule was put into place, you would never see recruitment threads of alt-posting corps, would you? Same goes for alliance only posting.
If the alts want to post, they will find a way around any reasonable rule. Just ban the s**tposters and trolls..both altposters and mainposters, that's the only real solution (and it's not perfect either)

I believe that is because they, as a rule, do not delete threads. The will edit/snip posts but if I remember correctly they said they don't remove threads if they can help it. Of course I may not be remembering correctly.

personnally I think the forums are out of control and the sad fact is the playerbase has reached all new lows and the people that have ruined this forum should be ashamed of themselves.
The posting of hardcore **** links as jokes on a forum for a game with a 13 cert is disgusting and depraved, I would not normally say something like I am about to but as a Father my views of this type of crap is 0 tolorance and tbh if i ever found out who some of these people were in RL I would hurt you so bad you would pray for forgivness.
CCp solutions to this problem i have no idea, 1 suggestion would be trial accounts can not post on the forums ecept in the beginners section, this would be a easy change to the database considering the forum login is tied to your account.
2: the posting of anytype of **** link should come with a imediate IP ban on your account forever, your not fit to interact with normal people if you think hardcore **** links are funny when children are involved ( involved as in children play this game also ) then your a twisted person and deserve to be locked up with the key thrown away.
I expect this post to be flamed and tbh I dont care, it will again show the maturity of some of the people playing this game who hide behind a game avatar and post crap with no possible chance of retaliation.
These people should leave there pc walk out to the Families Living room and look at there siblings/children/families children/ neices and nephews and ask themselves would i really want any of my family exsposed to some of the disgusting stuff i post and have seen posted on this forum.
If you are a anyway Moral person then the answer is no, if the answer is yes or I do not care then I pray to god you never have a family of your own.

There are ALT Trolls in every major alliance.
The goons have theirs, BOB have Alice Chol and Ed209 Etc Etc Etc.
So all alliances have their share of guilty parties here.
You only need to read the propaganda views and rebuttals to realize which alliance their Main is a part of.
Our Knights/GhostFleet are available for small honorable contracts.

That's not really true thought is it.
When you make a "T20 spawned BPOs" threads start to vanish fairly rapidly.

Hmm the firefox mod really does fix the problems tbh, as a solution its perfect until such time as CCP can afford to spend the resources to rewrite the forum software. (Maybe take help from the community on this??)
Latest version of that firefox mod works on all other subforums too :) Its great.. can block out all those freaks you just hate reading

The amount of alt-trolling has been bad for a long time, but it certainly has gotten worse. CCP needs to take a stronger stance. Make examples out of the worst offenders, and use temp-bans for the moderate offenders.

Your point would have carried much more weight had you not threatened physical harm and tried to be the morality police. Maybe my post did not come accross the way I wanted it, tbh the state of the boards with all the stupid topics is a sad state of affairs there was a time the Caod boards where fun to read.

Think there was once more interesting discussions and reports than many could follow daily.
Now you can read the intersting news each day in 5-10 minutes and the rest is boring or altastic blabla.
One reason can be that there are less interesting political news, only pos siege here, pos siege there, capitals killed there. There isn't so much political movement, just these big wars that go on forever.
Personally I prefered the drama long time ago with smaller alliances following their own agenda. There was just more interesting political news. Not only pos sieging. Things like when SA&Trigger came back and the was the SA/SE drama, people where asking: 'Who do we set blue and red now, or do we try to stay out as long as possible.' and such things.
A few weeks later the next interesting conflict started. Now we have those endless wars, but not much change on the political landscape. So there is not really much interesting to discuss now.

To throw my two cents in, I've browsed and posted in forums for a couple of MMORPGs before this, and they were the same way.
I honestly don't believe a majority of the posters are like this "normally", but due to the spectacle and the audience, they act out.
Think of CAOD as an episode of Jerry Springer. These people can't possibly be as messed up as they seem to be on the stage.
I mean, the transexual stripper stops in the middle of an argument with a midget to go dance on a pole at the crowd's request. Why? Because they know where they are and why they're there. They take part because that's what's expected.
The explitive-ridden dash from the pole to the midget and subsequent half-hearted swings before the security breaks them up are also nothing more than a part of the show.
They understand this.
Same thing here. I think most of the people who troll/spam/etc understand what this forum is and what it means.
Which, at the end of the day, is absolutely nothing.
I'm all for the forum actually becoming what its namesake implies it to be, but at the same time, I understand why it's not, and why it likely never will be.
Take everything said here with a grain of salt, and remember that it's all part of the show. Don't get so worked up.

I don't think that's an extreme position, I think it's a necessary one.
And when certain Goons or anyone else crossed the line, give them a couple warnings, then do the same thing.
But, after three pages of this, and after corporal hicks posting about inflicting RL violence and (apparently) torture on offenders of his obviously precious moral beliefs, and then watching people defend him... I take it all back.

Truth is, the forums are crap because CCP refuse to invest ANY money in it.
If you want real information on wars and such, use the SHC forum.
In fact I believe it's part of CCP plan to make the forum so crappy people use third party site to get things done (eve-search, eve-files, and SHC forums) as to reduce cost.
I might be wrong of course, and this whole thing has been going for years and is all due to mod incompetence...NOT.

Goons are somewhat new to EVE. We are saddened to hear that CAOD was an idyllic posting paradise before we were here. Certainly all of last year when we were forbidden from posting was incredible as well. I am sure the level of intellectual discourse was at an all time high for a video game forum.
We are sorry that in the last 5 months that we have been allowed to post that we have ruined this forum by posting with our mains and doing other such intolerable acts aimed solely at ruining CAOD.

While CRC are still moderating the forums, quite a few of its members have already moved to other departments (STAR, BH, IC) so manpower is a little lower than usual.
In the meantime you can continue to send mails to [email protected] if you spot an infraction of the forum rules or if you have any other questions or queries. The remaining mods are checking the forums daily, however, as volunteers we cannot always catch every post that requires our attention - so keep sending us mails

The content of the forums is (within limits) very much player driven. A problem from this is none of the players can actually place any "peer pressure" on other players if they are using alts to stop trolling. The example you given is more than likely one of your allies... do i really expect you to even know who it might be? ofc not.. players cant hope to stop even their friends trolling here..

They have the right to post, you have the right to not read it. Someone im sure said it within the last 4 pages. If they spam, the mods got it under control. If its annoying you and you complain then you are helping them complete their objective.
Its easy to do, I open it and read it and laugh at it just like when I read the entertainment of the tabloids, its the exact same thing.
So to help you:
1) Dont read it
2) Read it and laugh
and 3) DONT POST TO DRAW MORE ATTENTION TO IT (your right to do ofc, this is just helpful advice)

Forum moderation is not to be discussed in here - in case you did not know.
Also, no one forces you to do anything. You do not even have to read CAOD, nor do you have to use any firefox plugin.
I personally prefer filtering out what I do not like to read by myself, instead of having someone else do that for me.
Actually I often check chribba's sites to see what some threads originally looked like, before any form of intervention took place.

I find it quite amusing that Goons are starting to get a bit panicked about the way they're perceived in the Eve community. Goons seem to be churning out more and more pseudo spin-doctors to try to salvage their image. Seems to me that they're finally realising how unpopular they are with the wider community, and are now desperately trying to repair the damage. I think most people would have more respect for them if they admitted that their leadership has no discipline on forum posting, apologised for the way they're debasing the community.
No Brakes - if your leadership has genuinely given you responsibility to act on behalf of your alliance, and to try to clear your name then I'd like to make some constructive suggestions.
- State official Goon policy on forum posting - make it clear that the offensive posts are not officially sanctionsed
- Demonstrate your recognition that these posts are unacceptable, and provide examples of people who have been kicked.
However I suspect that goon leadership is too concerned about the huge numerical advantage they have to ever take a stand against their own members.

Ah well 24 hours in a day is a lot of time for stuff to happen. Even if you logged into eve 24/7 and dont see tactical plays turn into strategic achievements. Furthermore, and there are lots of futhermores and they all look the same. It sucks as a lowly corp member, who practically is just a mercenary burning himself to his flag with negative money supply. I think that banning people without alliance tickers is a tad overboard (not speaking from any personal point of view at all here )
Mods just need to be a bit more harder on players that spam, also the need to delete the posts, locking doesnt really solve anything and continues to clog up the boards.

Well the limbo bar can never go to low. You know it will so just let someone move it for you then amaze them with your dirty dancing. It sounds irrational but when one goes outside of normal bounds of experience and control it gets a bit pete tong - Rational Irrationalism to try and get to err.. rational. I could equally have sent him the examples of the post of Remedial naked with his GF, the video posted showing hardcore action or any number of other similar tirades that the moderators are forced to clean up.
The simple fact is that Goonswarm have no internal discipline, and players are allowed to post illegal / offensive / racist / homophobic with impunity. Rather than show any balls by standing up to this, the majority of Goons are too cowardly to take any action themselves.
Oh come on now. To be fair, will smith dancing on the twin towers was HILARIOUS and I'm from NY.

My bad if this has been stated somewhere before but I didn't fancy reading 7 pages.
Easy solution: make a new subsection (like on SHC forum) where ppl have to ask the moderators for acces, and if one of them spams/trolls/wotever the mods can easily revoke their posting rights, making the forum all the more enjoyable for the rest of us.

There's a simple solution to all this. Seperate Alliance and Corperation forums. It's alot easyier to filter alt alliances than alt corps.

Censorship is never the answer, unless we're talking racial/ethnic/sexual flames or inappropriate material. Being stupid isn't a cause for censorship, it's grounds for being ignored. Everyone who wants to be safe in their cocoon of only reading cool posters can get the BoB-approved CAOD-Nanny. As for forum changes, they should disable editing in this forum, so people can't post blatantly imflammatory crap, let a few dozen people read it, then edit it out to something else 5 minutes later (a tactic that both sides of the Great War have been known to do). But censorship isn't the answer.
