I believe it is time for CCP to change name of their product.
Instead of 'EvE Online' this game should get new name 'EvE Offline'. At least when you see the name of the game you know what to expect.
Now based on game name I somehow foolishly expected that this is the game you can play online ==================================================
Lag does not exist ... It is all just a matter of perception. |

This is actually one of many crashes since the middle of last week i beleive. If there server is run by a hampster, its under fed, under loved, and generally upset. Wub thy Hampsta! "The AK-47.. for when you absolutely have to kill every thing in the room!" |

WTF does "Proxy not connected" mean for Eve? Oh... and I saw the traffic advisory and suddenly the probe I was trying to scan lagged out.. no chance to change skills before it crashed. NICE. -- Unsafe at any speed! Remember my motto: Safety Third! |

Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
translated....
internet spaceships is currently offline ccp are aware of the problem and are currently running round like headless chickens.

The trade union for the server hamsters has just informed me that they are taking industrial action over pay and conditions. they are staging a 2 hour walkout and have set up a picket line at eve's main entrance
Anyone crossing this picket line will be pelted with **** drenched saw dust and called a SCAB!
CCP please crumble to the hamsters requests, some have families to feed.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when a failover occurs, SHOULDN'T the second machine pick up the load immediately?
Yes. But, the problem is their nifty SQL server fails over every now and then for no reason.
They choose to accept this instead of investing in proper database software.

It's just aggravating because I generally don't get a lot of time to play. And when I do it seems to crash. Honestly makes me want to move on to another game and cancel my subscription. Bothers me to pay for it (now that this happens so frequently).
and yes they delete the thread because they don't want potential subscribers to read statements like the above.
Look at me! I'm starting to turn into one of the many "disgruntles"...

failover reliability
Automatically switching to a redundant or standby server, system, or network upon the failure or abnormal termination of the currently-active server, system, or network (a "hot standby" or "warm standby"). Failover happens without human intervention. This feature is usually built-in to expensive systems which must be available continuously.

About a year ago I got a free trial for eve and in the first week of the trial the server kept going down...
So a week ago I decided I'd give it another go... did I just choose two really bad weeks, or is eve always like this?
and I'm guessing most of you pay for this so you must be finding this wayyyy more annoying than me
