Maybe we could take up a collection to help CCP hire more PR people? Then we could get more imaginative lack-of-service messages that "socket is closed" or "database failover." How about "the socket is closed because it's overflowing with the fetid, decaying remains of our database, whose inadequate capacity and performance just caused our service to explode like a purulent zit into a bathroom mirror"?
Or something like that.

Hehe yeah reffer to previous weeks posts about server crashes. There are a few of them...take your pick. - Michael Schumacher won many a formula one race. Alot of the time he didn't win because he had a better car...he won because HE WAS A BETTER DRIVER and because he used SUPERIOR TACTICS. |

This is getting ridiculous. The server seems to have crashed consistantly this last week. The CCP fanboys can make all the excuses they want, but I have not seen this type of incompetence in a game in years. Please get it fixed and maybe reimburse us by extending subscriptions for this past week or until you get this database issue solved.

Edited by: Mannington Skank on 15/09/2007 13:32:58 Chaning DB isnt that hard either.... stackless python uses funsctions and procedures, just like every other major high level language. You just change those to use the new DB type. As for chaning the DB server backend.... well most have an import from your old ****ty server (MsSQL) function built it.

For that you are pretty clueless though. MySQL isn't the same as MS SQL and the former, which is widely regarded as a glorified SQL interface to the file system (rather than a database), is usually more stable than EVE's database even ...
isn't it funny how some people advocate both GTC<=>ISK trades and EVE being superior due to its cruelty and costly losses, when they use the former to circumvent the latter?

Yes well we are all whingers by posting in this thread and we should just put up with the multiple crashes a day.
I guess there comes a time when even the people that call everyone whingers are going to get sick of it. It is just a matter of when that time will be

At least we get an honest response. Besides, 14:00 GMT is less than a half hour from now. This means the server will be down for a total time of under an hour.
