Surveying the EvE player base: What question do you want answered?

Serenity Steele Dynamic Data Distribution	Posted - 2007.09.23 21:26:00 - [1] An idea I've been cooking up for some time is to survey the Entire EvE Player base (well enough to get a statistically significant result). Before launching the survey, I thought it would be a good idea to give everyone a chance to ask their question. Your question(s) can be anything you find interesting, from Economic, Military, Ships, Territory, Famous people, GTC, CCP. So the question for you, dear forum professional is this: What question(s) did you always want the answer to in EvE? Which questions will be selected Anything you can think of that isn't an arsehat (IMO) question. If English language isn't your strong point, no problem, I'll help out where I can. If you want to translate the survey to another language, just post here. They'll be grouped together by some logical categorisation. How will the answers be recorded? The answer options will be either: - Multiple choice (option a,b,c,d,e,f) - On a scale (Rate 1-5, where 1 is agree, 5 is disagree) - A Drop-down list (single options) Where will the answers be shown? - Expect some sexy graphs - Answers will be cross referenced for more interesting results. - Aggregated results will be shown on a public web site (tba.) - No individual responses will be given out. Then what? The survey will be re-sent at set intervals, to measure trends (Say 3 months). Oh oh .. I can't think of a question! Well you've got a week to think of one. I plan to collate the questions and survey 1st October. Er .. why? Good question, but a bit of an arsehat one IMO. Seriously - because it's interesting! I do have one question I would love to ask, it relates to a thread one player and I had a large discussion about. What are your feelings on the stargate system in eve, or would you prefer an "open" warp to system, but which takes you across the systems you would have had to go across anyway? 1. Wish it was more like starwars/ startrek. 2. Not particularly bothered. 3. I like it how it is. 4. WTFNOOBGTFO. By "open" like starwars/startrek I'm guessing you mean gateless travel where all ships were jump capable, but the jump range range is sufficent only to reach a neighbouring system. Those are some starters. I'm sure with some thought I could come up with more basic ones. It's A GIRL!!!!!

One for yes, one for no. So that 4/5 choices could be asked on each. This would allow a lot more information to be gathered on what people think of their investment if they've made it. Such as: Very Satisfied, definitely would invest again Somewhat satisfied, may invest again. I just ran through the surveys and they're interesting from an anthropological perspective on MMOs, but as such, too generic to provide information of the type I'm interested in gleaning about EvE. For that matter, when will we get modules that can convert a launcher to a turret and vice versa?

I put that one down as I want to know the answer, but Serenity didn't mention the method this survey was being carried out - They may if they think it's worth it, include a link to it in the ingame news or another eve-wide method, that would reach more players than the forums. But because this might be difficult to achieve, and of course total blanket coverage will be hard, I included the second question which is more appropriate to a forum-asked question but still roughly answers what I wanted to know. I rarely explore with a group. I never explore with a group. These last two questions I feel could be better used combined but I've kept them separate for the purpose of clarity. How how much of your time in Eve on average, do you spend in exploration? 1 hour or less. 1 - 3 Hours. 3 - 6 Hours. 6 or more hours. As a corollary of your time spent in exploration, how many sites do you complete? 1 site or less. 1 - 3 sites. 3 - 6 sites. 6 - 9 sites. 9 or more sites. Can't think of any more right now but I may add some more later, or others can.
