Since so many people keep asking the question of when the next mirror is, here is the answer. Mirrors are only made when the devs have a reason to need an updated one. Mirrors take quite some time and work to create which is why they're not done that often.
To make a mirror to singularity takes around 2 hours of downtime to copy the tranquility database, followed by a day or more of work internally to prepare the database for use. It is therefore not feasible to do this regularly. Asking the same question that's already been asked by hundreds of others before you will not change the answer.
As for skills, If you want more skills on Singularity, start training them on Singularity.

Perhaps you could elaborate a little? i.e., when do the devs usually consider it worthwhile to do a mirror?
I can appreciate some of the work involved with creating a new one - all science & industry jobs in progress at the time of the mirror have to be cancelled, starbases and outposts (and their contents) wiped, markets reseeded and goodness knows what else. Edited by: Aramendel on 24/09/2007 00:11:09 At least they will be able to be squished faster.
As for "when do the devs usually consider it worthwhile to do a mirror?" - thats pretty easy to answer with a bit of thinking:
When it is needed or when it can be done with minimal additional effort.
The test server is used primary to..well..test new game content. And not new ship setups (although it can be used very well for that, you just have to invest effort by training your chars on sisi too).
So, essentially, devs will upddate the char database when they need more people on sisi to test new stuff. Right now that isn't the case, at least until we'll see the new ships.
Either that or they do it when it is the least work intensive or can be combined with other needed stuff.
For example, a TQ copy will most likely be done when they need an extended downtime anyway (for example hardware upgrades, should be no problem to do these and copy in the meanwhile the database). And the sisi update when they need to fiddle with the user database there anyway, too.

So I suppose the question here is really "When is Rev 3 appearing on SISI?"
That seems the best time to mirror TQ. The new engine and new content will require a large patch (and likely downtime), and they'll need testers in droves to test the new stuff out.
Since Rev 3 ships in November and we haven't heard anything about delays, I would guess testing would start sometime in October. -------------------------------------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

BH Desryn is correct though; at the moment we're working on fixing the 600+ defects that Oveur mentioned in his devblog. These obviously require new clients rather than a new db, which is why Sisi players have to patch so regularly, and do not have an up-to-TQ-date version of their skills.
When we have a need to release content for public playtesting, for example with the new ships, then we may very well update the db, if we feel that there aren't enough people currently being able to test a specific feature.

'If you want to pvp, pvp on TQ'
Interesting, well, i can pvp on TQ but my problem is (as with some other people) is i don't have the isk to buy every single ship that i want to test and fit it out to see if its worth buying or not or how effective it might be mining or combat wise yada yada yada.
Alot, if not all can understand that we don't pay for the test server, that it is there for everyone to use and that it takes time to update it. Even if you update it now, someone will complain in 2 weeks time saying its not up to date (then its possible to use the phrase "learn it on the test server then").
Some people in eve play for a while before even using the test server, who you say? well not everyone is awake when playing eve and not everyone uses it to its full, i for one have not used the test server til recently and i played it for 30 mins and decided to wait til next update. Why you ask? why not learn the skills in the server and then you can do as you wish? Because my skills on TQ are such that i can use minmatar, amarr, gallente and caldari battlecruisers, caldari and gallente battleships and the skills associated with using those ships in combat situations properly such as rigs and tech 2 modules. However, the test server only has me down as being able to use gallente battlecruisers and nothing else, i cannot even fit a shield hardener. I am fully aware this takes time and its not a thing of "your all lazy" or whatever, that it is a chore to do such a thing when its not payed for or really needed towards game play however i would rather not have to train all the skills i have done on the test server just to catch up and test the ship or modules out, by that time i would have made the money and bought it, tested it on TQ and moved on.
How can i truely test ships and modules and new things coming out in the world of eve properly if i do not have the skills to well.....test them.....Don't by all means instantly go and upgrade the server because i made this statement, but please put it higher on your list of 'things to do', yes it takes time, yes it will cut down on people's play time and yes we don't pay you for doing it however doing the update will benefit all who use the test server and besides, sure we don't pay you for doing the test server or whatever but you provide it and thus it should be maintained and kept reasonably up to date otherwise there is no real point in providing it. (i say all, there is always one person whos got somthing to complain about).
Last thing before i submit this wall of jibberish to the world to be cut into peices and thrown back at me is the thought of
"ergh, but.....it takes time to do it, we don't get payed for it, why should we bother. Just means we have to work"
Will generally just carry on, i mean you remember back when you were teenagers? "i'll do my work later, i got plenty of time, besides there is no rush" is somthing said alot until you realise at the last moment "oh noes its becoming a real problem and i'm getting a yelling about it, damn i wish i shoulda done it earlier", if hundreds of people post complaints about the test server not being up to date, isn't that a sign that somthing should be done?
Think about it and read carefully before replying ^^ (there is always someone who doesn't read it all carefully and posts somthing stupid)
Thank you for your time SilentHunter13

When there is NEED to test certain new feature, ppl get this skill slapped, ie this is what happened when hams kicked in.
And beside that and point that u don't have isk on tq to test some ships (tho then why u need to test this ship if u can't afford to fly it ?), i didnt rly understand what u wanted to say in ur too-long post, less text more content and life will be easier.
U first agree that updating because of whiners is pointless, coz in 2 weeks they will start whining again, but then u write half page about how bad and bo-hoo is fact that server is not updated.
Also there is a lot of ppl complaining that ****** and cocain + other hard drugs should be legal, altogether with child ****, doesnt that mean that this should become legal ? No it don't. ---

'And beside that and point that u don't have isk on tq to test some ships (tho then why u need to test this ship if u can't afford to fly it ?)' - *sigh* ok, here we go. Do you know what you actually wrote? "why do you need to test the ship if you cant afford it" well Valandril i would like to know if the ship setup is worth using the money or saving up for instead of using my isk on another project in TQ so that is why i want to test it on sisi, use your head, i know tonnes of people who fit out abaddons with lots of T2 equipment and rigs and see how it handles full well knowing it will take them a few weeks to get the money for such a setup.
'i didnt rly understand what u wanted to say in ur too-long post, less text more content and life will be easier.' - Called making a rounded argument and looking at it from all sides, yes some people want the upgrade, and yes some ppl don't have the time to initiate the upgrade. 'Too-long' tbh its a forum where you type words down so people can read it, if you dont like reading on a forum for more than 10 seconds, go to ship setups and read that.
'U first agree that updating because of whiners is pointless, coz in 2 weeks they will start whining again, but then u write half page about how bad and bo-hoo is fact that server is not updated.' - Again, balanced, showing all sides of the argument so that others can understand fully what we are asking and the reasons why and so on and so forth.
'Also there is a lot of ppl complaining that ****** and cocain + other hard drugs should be legal, altogether with child ****, doesnt that mean that this should become legal? No it don't.' - Doesn't really relate to this matter i'm sorry. This is indeed a internet game whereby you pay per play, game mods and designers are interested in your opinions to help the game out and change things for the better, this is why we have this section of the forums and this is why we have the forums in the first place, otherwise it would just be roleplay.
I urge you to not reply on what i just wrote and instead read it and read my previous statement again. I fear you posting again about my statements might lead to pointless arguments and eventually insults of which this game could do without.
Yours Silent ------------------------------------------

You should play on TQ.
Sisi is not intended as TQ alternative. You still can use it to test setups, but that requires *gasp* effort. By keeping your skilsl trained on sisi. This isn't exactly difficult, I have on both servers about the same SP.
Quote: TEST means -> TEST so much if posseble ships/ mods/ items/ rigs etc. All difrend kinds of fittings and so on. CCP wants us to test so thats what we/you do. Trying out new setups is virtually useless as bug finder. Especially since if you are testing NEW setups you usually have no real experience with them and have a hard time to differentiate between bugs and normal behaviour. The amount of white noise that produces (aka bugreports which are not about bugs because the person confused a normal behavious as bug because he is unfamiliar with the module/ship in question) makes it actually contraproductive.
From CCPs perspective it only makes sense to get people testing if there is new content or considerable changes to a module/ship which makes it more likely that there are actual bugs to find.
And that is actually exactly what most other MMORPG companies do - they open their test server only for the public when there are major patches to be tested. Otherwise they are closed to the public because keeping them open does not really help. Having an online-all-the-time test server is a favour from ccp to us.

So actually, the "test" server is for testing (<-notice the word "test" in "testing") setups. Not that it is exclusively for this purpose but if you are "test(ing)" a setup then technically the "test" server is a place for that.

Put +99 implants in the test server and you will rarely have people complaining about their skills not being up to date. I know it's a dev only thing, but giving that little button that says "give me these skills" to everyone would do it as well. I can understand if it's not there to prevent hundreds of titans from popping up, but it'd still be a nice way to not worry about having to keep up with multiple servers.

anybody that has ever developed anything knows that your best testers are your users. don't think i would ever expect my users to test things that were months old, they would not bother. too bad ccp doesn't realize that. if the developers don't want to take the time to provide a proper test environment, why should i bother looking for and logging bugs. waste of my time. i'll use it for what it is, a different sandbox than tq.

And they don't. If there's anything new added that you could not previously train, then you're usually given the skills on sisi. Best example of this was heat and bombs, where everyone was given the maximum relevant skills so we could all test them.

Ok This is the only problem I have with the whole test server mirror thing. Notice the bold underline I put in the quote. Well if you read the eve-online support about the test server it says "Character information is replicated to the test server on a regular basis". Please not to contradict other support pages. Other than that I have no problem waiting for the next mirror and understand.

Actually, it's more like 6 weeks.
Since it usually happens between 7-10 weeks on a normal cycle, it should happen in the few weeks, probably.

There is no fast times when there will be a new mirror. CCP have said many many times that they will make a new mirror when they need it, and atm i don't think it's not needed.
And for me, i hope there will be no new mirrors ever, because of some things i have on sisi now .

As there are some modules modified or revamped they might be needing a new database, at least for equipment, but I don't think it's the same DB as characters.
And no, still no news about a new mirror :/

Your first mistake is to asume that each time they apply a mirror, they post about it. You must be new to the test server. That mirror was short lived. Another was appled the beginng of june.
Your second mistake is to assume that someone would care if that you didn't ask for their opinion.

I have not used the test server in a while and simply assumed that an official thread would be correct, so that is not a mistake. Besides, it was not like my estimate was out by a few months, it was out by a mere few days! If you are not new around here, then you "should" know that they don't put a new mirror on Sisi based upon how many people want one, but when there is a need for one based upon "Internal Test Requirements".
You might as well ask them for a new computer while you are at it.

Just a question concerning SiSi from someone that has just discovered how to use it (yeah yeah I know... I'd heard of it, but hadn't gone over and checked it out)...
If my memory of server incremental backups is correct, and it's been a few years since I ran one so my tech is outdated, please be patient, but.. is TQ's backups updated incrementally? or at DT? If so, and of course NOT knowing exactly what your OS and Hardware is specifically, couldn't a script be written to incrementally update SiSi at it's DT?? I've done DB backups and updates ( I ran mirrored websites) and while none of it has ever been on the scale of an MMO, the script isn't particularly difficult to write for a standard web-server.
Ok, before you start screaming TQ isn't a standard web-server, I know this. But the overall principles should be similiar enough to allow for an daily incremental backup and update unless the program, db, os etc is far different than I am thinking it is.
The primary reason I have stated the above is this. I have 4 accounts. only two can access SiSi since it appears they were created AFTER the last mirror. I'd like to be able to test some of the nano related adjustments with my minmatar character who is just a few weeks away from flying a Vagabond. If the adjustments are such that with his current skills, he will be effectively neutralized, then I am going to need to adjust and test my skilling to make the ship more viable within the game. I would hate to have spent so much isk on a ship that even before I can fly it, becomes effectively worthless to me for now.
If the nano adjustments make it so a low SP character can't fly a Vagabond as it was designed to fly, then imma haffa adjust and find a niche it can fit, cause I sure ain't gonna let it gather dust. But I can't really test this if the character doesn't exist on SiSi. So... here is hoping a new mirror is due soon.

The answer is in the first post of this thread, although, not in all the detail you are asking for.
The copy task is easy compared to the internal work that is needed, such as removing POSes and ETC.

Current mirror date: 17th January 2008
--------------------------------------------
Since so many people keep asking the question of when the next mirror is, here is the answer.
So when is the next mirror? SoonÖ

hmm wasn't particularly asking for a new mirror as hoping one would be forthcoming soon as I have characters on accounts NOT on SiSi atm. I know that there is a lot involved with DB updates if you have to go in and make changes like you described, although I am not sure why they can't just do a true mirror rather than an adjusted one which would make more sense.
oh wait no, I see what your saying. remove all GSC's etc, all PoS etc, to give the server a clean "baseline" for testing rather than one cluttered with extraneous garbage. The only problem I can see with that is it then ensures that SiSi isn't a true rep of whats going on and happening with tq.
Anyhoo.. Hope one happens soon so I can test ALL my characters.
MA
*edit* Not having a great knowledge of the mechanics involved with mirroring an MMO server (like EVE's) and all that is required or involved, take my statements with a grain of salt as I am sure there is a great deal involved that I have little or no experience with, and my lack of knowledge of that may be showing here. ~MA

We will try to put a new mirror on Singularity this week.
To answer the question above, yes, it would be possible to make an incremental periodical update between the two databases, however it is not feasible for us.
I'm going to explain a bit how the mirroring process works and why we have to prune the database we deploy on the public test servers before.
A full backup of the Tranquility database is made periodically and stored on a server. That database is then copied onto Singularity or Multiplicity - the process takes around 7 hours.
The copied database is then pruned in order to remove starbases and the moon minerals scrambled. This is done to prevent scouting on the test server of starbase locations and moon resources.
The database is further edited with the following: * ETC accounts are edited so that they do not expire when the ETC payment runs out. * All accounts are voice enabled. * Agent memory is removed (standings and loyalty points). * S&I jobs are removed (this is done in order to prevent starbase S&I jobs from being stuck. * The market is seeded so that all market items cost 100 ISK and are in plentiful supply. At least one station per constellation is market seeded like this. * Other adjustments for our internal use.
This process takes around 4 hours, then the database is deployed on the Singularity server. Depending on possible complications with the database copying, editing or with the server starting up after the database is deployed, the whole process can take up to 2 days.
I hope this answers your questions.

Edited by: Zarthanon on 31/07/2008 11:54:37 They obviously make incremental backups of their database for security reasons. They don't have to go into an extended DT on TQ to get a database mirror, they should just have to copy it from a recent backup. Either way, give it time. They obviously want our input on these changes and need as much help as they can get seeing it's nature. Just wait, it'll happen, waiting for a mirror never got anyone podded. I like pie. |

It takes a short time to make a db dump, copying it to the server, tweaking the db for testing services easily takes a day, Sisi doesn't have to be offline for the most part, TQ has nothing to do with this part.
Some of the db tweaks are a lot easier to do in game, at which point, after a DT to migrate to the new db build, there will be a nice 'not accepting connections' time in which a few devs work their asses off to get it ready..
A new version was tested on sisi today, but they removed it again. See this for more info.

Is there any way to get an additional week or so of testing added to the timetable for the speed changes? Many pilots cannot test the changes on sisi very well, because they have seen dramatic changes to their skills in the two months since the last mirror.

To answer the questions so far:
1. The remaining Operations people are already busy with the day-to-day maintenance work for Tranquility and their other duties. 2. Copying the skill data is not enough to make a new mirror, a full database backup is needed for this.

It's kind of sad, really...
The Devs don't update SiSi for the sake of you sorry lot, they update it for the sole purpose of testing the stability and functionality of the newest patch in progress. As for the mirrors - this is a part of the testing process. Mind you, the option to go on SiSi is completely optional, and the fact is, that not alot of people have the privilege to actually test new patches.
My point being, don't flame the devs for not being there to service you every second, they've got a job to do, and you're only a hindrance to them when you flame them.
Don't take SiSi for granted buddy, you're lucky CCP hasn't shut off access to the public entirely.
Pardon, if i hurt your feelings by the way, that was not the intention.

Copying and pasting must be so difficult for someone untrained. Ask the janitor to push the five necessary keys instead
Yes, but the Janitor doesn't know the passwords necessary to log onto the database servers....
Give him the passwords then lol
Its kind of sad that you would bother to write that all out. Plus it would be nice if you learnt how to use a comma :)

How about this for a good reason to mirror the server... I want to help test these great new upcoming changes, and it be most efficient to do so with my latest skillset
Seriously, tho - is it THAT hard to mirror the server? And what's with the conflicting info from the devs? One guy is responsible but he's on vacation, or "everyone" else is busy and preoccupied... which is it?

Originally by: CCP Oneiromancer We will try to put a new mirror on Singularity this week.

The test server is primarily for the devs and ccp to test the new patchs and the new systems that they will put into places in TQ , it is not primarily for people to go on for "Quick PVP" and if you want to test setups use "EFT" if your not happy that you dont have your current skills on the test server.

Could some people stop fracking moralizing others ? We all know the purposes of doing a mirror or not.
Maybe you could open your eyes and try to see farther than your nose and understand that if people ask for a new mirror, there are some reasons for it.
@Innoculii : I don't think he drove home on Tuesday morning and instantly landed on his chair at CCP... People who leave on vacations usually come back home 2-3 days before the vacations end to take their working pace of life back.

Yeah seriously. Get a grip people. Its not like you've been asked to test the changes on sisi to give feedback because of all the unforeseen consequences. Just let the devs play their sisi game and don't bother testing. This man knows it all.

I recently traded my character on TQ. As a matter of fact I don't have my new TQ char on Sisi I still have my old one.
So I can't test fittings I could use on TQ, as the new char is Amarr and the old one Gallente. And I'd rather test out fittings where there's no risk of losing too much ISK than trying on TQ and lose it all.
No, it has nothing to do with bug reporting or such ( which is still to be proven as I might find a bug doing so ). Yes, it's still one of Sisi's purposes to allow players to find and try out setups corresponding to that player's gameplay. ( That'ts what FFA and BF are for )

Where did he promised anything ? He only said "they'll TRY" to get one last week.
And that's actually partially right, as afaik the database copy is done already. The only need now is that Deployment Dept (iirc) edits the copy as Oneiro said and puts it on Sisi.
So if you wanna rabble against someone, do it against Deployment :p

You clearly didn't read what Oneiromancer posted earlier in the thread, that's why you don't have the tiniest clue of what you're talking about...
As Oneiro said, mirror != skills. They need a COMPLETE Tranquility database copy to get a stable base to work on.
Afaik :
- Operations Dept do the backup and copy it onto Singularity network. - Deployment Dept prune that copy to edit a lot of things Oneiro also mentionned ( ETC accounts changes so they don't expire, wipe out all POS warfare, seed the market with all those oh-so-loved 100 isk items, eventually implement previous mirror's capital ship building queues so the work done from it doesn't get lost, etc, etc ).
TQ and Sisi aren't on the same computer, which would have been EVE Offline since Day 1. They're not even on the same network.
So for once find informations when you're trying to troll/flame to make it at least decent, and not that kind of clueless bullsh*t.

make a single mirror maxing every1's skill it only needs to be done once every year to accomidate new players.. thanks..
this also gives people the option to test EVERYTHING not just what they have trained for thus making it a more viable way to actualy test things.

CCP need feedback from things tested with different skillsets. If every feedback report they'd get was from ALL Level V skilled pilots it'd be pretty useless.

Guys careful, CCP employers brains will blow up. remember they use hamsters to run the servers. imagion what they are, guinea pigs?
ccp sort it out seriously. if ur gonna release a big patch like this atleast update the skills before u put it on otherwise u aint gonna get people being able to test it out fully meaning its pointless, and the people who r doin it, are quite sad to repeat the same skills they get on TQ
flame me if u wish. i aint gonna waste my time trainin skills on 2 different servers the exact same time.
whats the point .
think smart ccp, think smart!
mirror update same as patch = happy customers = more testing = u can relax and eat ur peanuts while u wait for replys instead of complaints.
Fail much?

Not such a bad idea.Even if there had to be some kind of BH registration just to connect to SiSi Id still do it.
On a sidenote, having max skilled players on the test server is not what CCP want people. It's 'meant' to be a reflection of the live server so all skill groups can test different things....you dont have max skills on TQ so why complain about not having them on SiSi?Okay, you may be a couple million sp behind on the test server and in a perfect world your skills would be identical to TQ everyday but it's not and complaining about it daily wont make it happen.Just be happy that they allow us on there at all.
tl;dr...we're meant to be testing what we can 'really' fly/use on TQ.

Big speed changes across EVE. Please everyone go onto sisi and help us test. Give us feedback. Ok, but whats this I'm 3mill sp's short of what I have on tranq? Galli frigate 5 is not trained, most all my nav skills are not trained yet. How can I test my Ares on sisi? I can't even fly it there. Since the announced changes I've asked in forums and on SISI. I had a bug dev say it was going to be mirrored this week. Now it's too much trouble to do it? Well they did it before. With these changes affecting so many people in EVE and with all the calls for mass testing on SISI. You'd thank they'd mirror the dammed thing. Anyway I can't test my current ceptors and if I start to train the missing skills on SISI the changes will be implemented on Tranq well before my skills are trained on SISI.

If you want to help out with testing, you test with skills you have, you give feedback. No more no less. It is voluntary and a privilege, treat it like that.
Testing requires no need to have same skills as on TQ. Singularity isn't there to test your fittings.

Ok, so you are a Noob, so what, get used to it.
So they missed their "planned" window for deploying a mirror, so what, you are not paying for this service.
People demand an estimate, and when it is given and missed by unforseen circumstances, or what ever, people respond like this?
I would expect such demands for answers to when mirrors will be applied will be, or should be, ignored in the future.
I was kind of surprised with this one.

Considering ur a 07 character u cant say much urself. if u were to not have all ur updated skills on sinq from tq u would be missing out on alot of important sp. cause ur still workin on spec'ing urself out.
The fact is, if a new patch as big as this comes out. the mirror should be ready straight away to be put on. i think that stands for what every 1 would think.
That is all im going to say, the mirror should be ready so every 1 can participate and test. as the sq server is for testing, which ccp should for-see that.
And actually we r payin for the service cause if we didnt pay we wouldnt be on the test server in the first place. its not like we could come out of nowere n be like oh yes i can go on the test server because its free, oh wait, i forgot i have to have my account topped up before the mirror update
That is so free.
Again, get a clue =/

I like to be able to say anything I want, even flame those in my Alliance, without someone crying to my CEO about it. Kind of liberating, maybe I'll join a Corp that doesn't care sometime.
As for you, I suggest you use the search feature for past topics regarding the test server, it might be enlightning to someone who is so new to the game. It might put your expectations a little more inline with reality, well maybe.

They want us to test new changes, then mirror the server.. simple really otherwise nearly all input will be based on what tranq was like at the start of the year!! Or is that CCP's idea of accurate QA testing
C'mon CCP - you've upset alot of the player base with your proposed changes & in all my time of playing, i've never seen this much anger vented towards you! - and they're not minor changes either!.. Time to let us test them with our current skills cos atm, you're being torn to shreds on not only the Eve-O forums but on alot of others as well ______________________________________

K - well i took the jan date from the very 1st post on this thread which is why i voiced my concerns but that'll teach me for not checking the post date .
However, even if the latest was on may 5th that is still over 3 months old!! Lots can be skilled for in that amount of time.

you know you can always just skill your characters up simultaneously on both servers right?
Hell you can even spec for command ship on SISI while training for t2 bs weapons on TQ...
Sure that sp is lost when mirror happens, but hey your TQ stuff gets imported.
Win Win situation imo.
See the problem with whiners is that they dont look for solutions, they want the solutions to find them, or devs to bend over backwards. tbh whiners need to be ignored until they understand this.

And you do know that people use the test server once in a while when new stuff is released!! Seems the only whiner here is "YOU"(judging by your troll comments in other threads!) And If they want people to test New Content then it is up to them to make sure that the test server is as up to date as possible Here's a little example for you: You want to buy & try out the latest game instore for your pc? "Hey, soz, but we've only got a PC which is around 6 months old... best upgrade it yourself then come back and test the game" That is the analogy of your comment!!

You do not need to have same skills as you currently have on TQ to test new content. Skills are rather irrelevant, there are other players who will test out with diffrent skill sets. As said above, having different skills from TQ can be considered as advantage. You can train skills and ships you would not train on TQ normaly. Logging Sisi occasionaly only and complaining about low skills afterwards is truly ridiculous.
You do not pay CCP to work for you on test server, you work for them.

Another troll Why do I pay money to play ? hmmm ? And stop trying to drag another reason into this.. The reason we want an update is due to major changes..
If i wanted to learn how to fly something else then sure, log onto sisi and train up that skill yet this isn't then reason behind this thread..

Probably the stupidest comment I've seen so far when testing new content or changes to current content
Tell ya what, we're reset all your skills, bring out major changes that require testing then sit back and laugh as you complain on the forums that you can't give the changes a true test because half your skills are missing!!
It really is time for people to Grow up and post constructively, not leaving stupid little troll comments with no reasoning behind "said" trolls

Now, turn your //I use my brain mode on, please.
You do not pay for test server, it is a privilege. CCP is not obliged to allow you test server access for monthly subscription you pay. You are invited there to help out with testing. Changes affect everyone, no matter of skills or ships you fly therefore every skill set is contributing to testing results the same way as perfect skills set. If it is not entertaining for you, don't log in there. Test server isn't there to provide you fun.

WTF - u a dev alt or summit ? Why are we invited there to test ? BECAUSE otherwise they'd have no idea what sort of impact changes would have.
And how are we supposed to test any new changes to current gameplay if our skill tree isn't up to date ? All these shiny ships u like.. guess what.. I (along with hundreds of others) helped test them.. new patches & content.. yep, we also helped test those out as well!! And guess what - with each change, they mirrored the server so we were pretty much up to date. Heck, on a couple of occassions, they actually maxed out are skills so the testing could be done quicker.
SO STOP shooting yourself in the foot by saying skills are irrelevant! If they weren't then DUN DUN DUNNN.. we could all fit & fly whatever we wanted so quit being a troll, use your brain and stop trying to derail another post.
You Lot wanted the nano changes, & now they've been released on sisi, you ***** and whine when everyone asks for their current skills to be mirrored over..
Why ? because we'll get to see 1st hand the difference between TQ and sisi & how much of a difference the changes really do make to our play styles.
Instead, we have to waste a month or two re-training skills we already trained up on TQ just to get an idea of what effect the changes are really going to have! And this is down to a 5hr brainstorm with the changes released a few days later!!!
This is not new ships or modules which everyone has to train - this is current modules which everyone uses
And then guess what - just when you've got yourself on par with TQ skills they'll release the changes so you never got to test them properly live.
So your argument fails on why not to mirror the server with the current planned changes ______________________________________

You pay to play on Tranquility. The fact that you are allowed to play on a whole secondary server practically for free (to bug hunt, not to test your nerfed nano***got setups) should never be taken for granted.

To be honest we pay a considerable amount of money to pay on Tranquility per month and personally I believe that we deserve to have a test server to allow us to test patch releases before they are released in order to increase the quality of gameplay on the live server. It is technically a privilege however we pay for Singularity just as much as Tranquility! I think it is ridiculous that it takes CCP two weeks to put a new mirror on Singularity.

I believe that over two weeks for a mirror is pretty ridiculous, one week would be acceptable since a mirror should take two days according to CCP.

Well, stop talking about yourself as if you're a CCP staffer (i.e. 'we're on Summer vacation' when talking about CCP not getting the mirror done) and I'll consider it. To be fair, allowing us to test minimize their labor costs drastically. Not saying that its a bad way to do things but I believe your perception of the test server is wrong. Say what you wish but when they want people to test bugs yet they don't announce what needs to be tested when they release their incremental patches ....it tends to get frustrating.

1) No, it's not.

The guy in charge of the copy is part of Operations Department, while the editing work is done by Deployment. Maybe some Deployment people are on vacations ?

I am sure ccp has good reasons why they couldn't do the mirror yet. I just don't believe you should be lecturing people about them.

CCP cannot afford to close down Sisi for even a few months mate, if they did close down the server then they would have to hire a team of 100+ people to simply test the new content. Allowing the public to test the new patches for them drastically decreases labour costs and allows the content to be thoroughly tested before being released onto the live server.

I am certain that they could find enough "volenteers" from the community to test all their new content as needed.
Volenteers who wouldn't go crying their little hearts out because a new mirror wasn't promptly put on Sisi.
And it wouldn't cost them a dime, other than setting up a system to only allow "Certified" testers onto Sisi.
Probably save them a lot of headaches, due to childish behavior, on and off Sisi.

Well it's a good thing that CCP aren't affected by crying on and off the forums as much as you are or they would have severely worsened their testing procedures. |

That analogy doesn't work. And honestly, your being given the privilege to be on the test server, its not your right. I am personally just sick and tired of seeing people whine when all of the crap you complain about normally can be avoided through other means (including lag)
You want to know why CCP isn't listening to you? BECAUSE YOUR WRONG. Besides ccp doesn't listen to idiots. (and dont say that nano nerf was brought up by idiots, because you know some of the other more expensive setups were gamebreakingly fast.)

A new mirror has been deployed today on Singularity. The mirro was taken last Thursday, on August 7th.
We would like to apologize for the prolonged lack of new mirror. The lack of human resources due to the summer vacations as well as a less-than-good synchronization with the Game Design department has caused this delay and we again apologize.
In the hopes of offering better information about the mirroring process, I have created a new thread here.

We can only hope.
Personally, I'm really hopeful... it would be foolish for a company that prides itself on dev - player interaction to start ignoring its playerbase. I'm willing to bet the next patch will be more 'balance' and less 'nerf', something we can all agree on, or at least a step in the proper direction.

I mean seriously tho - why Leeroy a poly-Vagabond? If you're going to Leeroy anything, do it to a Poly-Ishtar; It's not likely to do so well post patch because it's out of whack at the moment. The Vaga on the other hand, it may actually fly OK with a Poly fit - there has to be some ship in game that does, if everything is balanced well.

The best speed you will get is from a MWD and 3 OD, anything else added on would be so stacked its a waste of a slot.

Alright, you can Leeroy your poly ships on the unsubstantiated belief that they'll be useless post patch, on the basis of a first edition trial patch that has recently been rolled back.
Me I'll prefer not to suicide any ships until the final patch goes live, on the unsubtantiated belief that they're going to change things with the patch so it's not all as bad as it seems right now.
Neither of these opinions above are factual... I do know, however, which one costs less ISK.
Leeroying your Vaga last week is premature ejaculation at its finest.

Maybe CCP Should consider 30% tackling range extension rigs with a speed reduction penalty. That way you can actually bait nanos and have far more ships other than just 3 minmatar ships able to counter speed. The hull speed reductions probably should go through as well. Everything else, hold off on. Less people will be ****ed off overall if the 'balancing' occured in two stages, where you can do the finer tweaks.

Hey,
The speed changes have been rolled back on Singularity to prepare for the Empyrean Age 1.1 patch. The changes will however still be available for testing on "Multiplicity" later this week as we continue to make adjustments.
MWD Reactivation delay has been removed, as you the players pointed out, it didn't quite feel right.
We're still making adjustments to missiles on our internal servers, we've been tweaking the numbers using the current missile damage formula but also exploring other possibilities.
The agility values are also slightly off. They were rebalanced with regard to MWD mass addition, which closed the gaps between ship types, removing uniqueness a bit. This will be fixed, also we're looking at boosting some ship classes in regards of agility.
We hope you'll continue to test the changes on Multiplicity, and continue to give feedback.

It's still too early to say it's happening with only a few tweaks until we get that new devblog. They rerolled to EA 1.1 because they plan on releasing that next. EA 1.1 was never intended to have the nanonerf patch since Nozh posted the devblog on July 25th and EA 1.1 was already being tested on July 18th. Simply put, they're still going to be testing on Multi.
