Does anyone know if it's possible to activate an account that's currently on trial with the Power of 2 offer? I can't see a reason not to allow it :\

Only $70? Still cheaper than normal.
Is this possible with out any problems? I thought about this too, geting a 6 Months full skilled Alt is something i would like to have.
It sounds ok to me.as long as the transfer fee is paid.
Im wondering if i can create a power of 2 account and then pay the fee to transfer my existing alt to it.

The price is in the currency you pay your subscription in, so if you live in Europe it's 49.95 EUR and if you live anywhere else it's 49.95 USD. This difference in the price is due to the VAT, which you all will now start discussing if I'm not mistaken.

just a question that sprung up in my mind..
Aren't you supposed to make the relevant currency very clear in the advert? It's horrifically ambiguous, which is underhanded to say the least.
Also, erm, VAT? Stop that tired old excuse.
Americans pay $49.95. Europeans pay Ç49.95. This equates to a shade under $70.
Surely that's a 40% increase? Which country are you pretending to be from to charge that ridiculous amount? In the UK, it's 17.5%, and i'm fairly sure the maximum rate of VAT is 25%. So what you're charging us is (assuming i'm not missing something here) a full 15% over and above the maximum rate of vat.

Even tough i'm sorry to say it, it's very true. If power of two gives 7 months instead 6, it might be worth it, but at the moment, there is zero to near zero reason to use the "action" at the moment... Shame tough, it nearly got me to buy a second character.

Payment Methods - Insifficient options in the UK.
CCP - Do yourselves a favour in the UK and allow payment by DEBIT CARD (Switch). Your current payment otions do not allow this.
I followed your Radio button for "Debit Card" and was not presented with an option for the single laegest payment method in the UK - Switch cards. Switch is "Maestro" and owned by Mastercard, but you have no options for this under your "Direct debit" payment options.
You are costing yourselves a LOT of custom from the UK not doing this. I work as Payments Manager for an online company in the UK managing over ú25 million of customer transactions per week from a customer base of over a million accounts. 70% of these are carried out using Switch cards.
The payment method is safe as it comes direct from a customers bank account, the Transaction fees are less than for credit cards for the retailer and it is an internationally accepted form of payment. Many people do not want, or cannot get, a credit card but you penalise them by making them look to 3rd parties to purchse ETC in order to plaay. This is a convoluted way for a first time player to get into the game and a barrier to entry.
Secondary E-Wallet solutions such as PayPal would also help to boost customer abilities to fund their subscriptions.
Personally I cancelled my credit card a couple of months ago as I am emigrating, the Power of 2 option would be great, but I can't pay for it with the methods you offer - that just cost you $50 bucks - I'm only one person but statistically take your customer base in teh UK - look at 70% of that and you'll have your current customers who could pay with Switch. (Not to mention the new customers you are missing)
If you can advise another way of taking up the Power of 2 Offer I'll happily spend my money with you.
Best Wishes

Edited by: JohnTheBaptist on 08/10/2007 09:08:36 If you live in the UK, you would be better off sending yourself a buddy program trial, then buying 2 x 3 month GTC from shattered crystal, with the exchange rate at 78.00 USD = 38.2879 GBP, and activating your account with the GTC at the end of the trial.
So you get 6 months, + 14 days trial, and save yourself ú10. Bob's your uncle.

Heh - I already fund my main and second account with ETC from shattered crystal - was commenting on it being a PITA compared to using a direct payment method. It's still an entry barrier for new players who don't know to go look somewhere else to fund their account.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to? There's still a transfer fee as usual, but as far as I know there are no restrictions on transfering characters to and from a Power of 2 account.

Choices
1) get Power of 2, transfer over alt train for 6mnths transfer back. you now 6mths of training on alt - this is useful for someone who has trained up alts and want to keep them - then after 6mnth you can let the account expire. - cost is just like normal but you end up with a more skilled alt.
2) Get power of 2, train a new character keep account - you have 6months of half price training
3) get power of 2, train a new character for 6mnths transfer to main let alt account expire - useful for skilling a new alt

I dont understand how this will draw more noobs unless people who have friends who MIGHT be interested get their friends the accounts.
Don't you have to have an existing account to get the power of 2?
Am I right that this offer is ONLY available to people who have an existing account?

I will take advantage of this offer so i'll create a second account in the next days. I'm a pvper, but i'd like to expirience the economic face of EVE. I'm really doubtful whether creating a manufactorer/producer or a trader (npc trading). I don't know which of these two kind of characters could be more profitable, i mean...if i go for npc trading and i'll be good at it i can get lots of money in a few minutes, but if i mine/manufacture/produce something i think i'll have to deal with the competition and so on, but long term it would be more profitable...some advices?
PS: Only advices about the careers, thanks. ______

I believe it's due to the weak US Dollar, though as far as I know we don't have any plans to increase the cost for everyone paying in USD at this point.

So EU customers have to pay an extra 15% to compensate for CCP not making as much from US customers... maybe I'm missing something here, but surely it would make more sense for US customers to pay 15% extra to make up for their weak currency?
Why are EU customers picking up the tab for the weak dollar? |

Indeed. I don't really see where the whole VAT thing comes in to be honest. If the exchange rates were 1:1 the price would still be the same as they are now. The diff in price is ONLY due to the weak dollar, which means euro's get ripped off. Quite simply, IF I could pay in dollars I would take up this offer. But I won't, since I'm forced to pay more by paying in Euros. Perhaps let us choose our payment currency or something!!

So why don't you charge everyone in USD/EUR and leave it up to their respective banks to do the conversion?
And yes. that's some quite ridiculously old prices you've got there. When were they set, exactly? Last year? The USD's been weak for ages.
