My subscription for my main account expired, so I tried to update the subscription however it would not accept my new credit card details. It will always return ERROR: Not authorised
I tried two different visa credit cards and neither would work. The problem is not with my credit cards as I was able to update this account with the same credit card. I've raised a petition, but is this kind of thing common? I don't really want to wait weeks for a petition response.

Same here. I have tried with the same and different CCs. The new system decides that a hyphen is not allowed on the address field, despite that my current billing information has a hyphen. Also, when you pick an account name for Power of 2, and you fail to complete the procedure (you close session after many attempts to input credit card), that account name becomes unuseable (claims it already exists when you try to input it).
I too have petitioned. CCP please respond to this issue.

I had the same problem. A workaround to get on right now is to use a GTC code. I did that and it works now.

I got my issue sorted. The GMs responded in less than 24 hours. Raise a petition if you have the same problem and they'll get round to fixing it.

I have two accounts, One is allowed to login and play, and the other is suspended? It wont even let me apply my credit card. I have sent Petitions after Petition, to no avail. WTF is going on Suppoprt Team???? Please Get you're SH*T together and fix these issues, or alas you will Lose Yet another Valuable Customer!!!

I have (had) the same problem, the 'Error: Not Authorized' message with my card. As suggested, I opened a petition, which is still unanswered, almost 20 hours later. In the meantime, I went to Battleclinic and purchased a 30 days GTC/ETC using the same card, which worked like a charm. Much better customer service, might I say.
So if you have problems with your account due to CCP billing issues, try purchasing a timecode from an ETC supplier, such as Battleclinic.

I'm sure there are lots of people with this problem, because when your account is deactivated due to a failed billing issue, you can't post on forums anymore. Not even to put a WTB order for a GTC. :-(

My experience: Yesterday morning I finally made it work. It was a bank holiday on Monday but I called in on Tuesday. Somewhere in the madness the bank had put a hold on my card transacting with CCP. So I don't know when the GM fixed it, because the bank issue had taken over. They told me VISA had put CCP on a suspicious merchants list because many people who had had Visa fraud had been customers of CCP (correlation not causation). I had the bank lady temporarily remove all security from my card, I ran the transaction, and then she put it all back on.
Crazy.
I'm now the owner of a shiny new Power of 2 though.

That's crazy man. I want to explain my situation now. Yesterday, due to problems during the activation of the Power of 2 (all the times i tried to activate it i got a message saying "Error: Not Authorised"), I called my credit card issuer. The company operator told me that Monday, October 8th the transaction to activate this offer had been authorized. BUT there is a little problem: all the times i got the "not authorised" message so i didn't know that the transaction had been authorised. So the fact is that now CCP has got my money (if i didn't call the credit card issuer, at this time i would keep on trying to activate the offer), and i don't have my Power of 2 account. I sent another petition more than 24 hours ago, but i got no response by then. Thanks CCP, great job and great support. That's completely crazy, i don't know how this situation in going on right now. DO something. ______

Something that happened to me once. I was trying to buy knickers for the wife (glamorous huh) on the Cacique/Lane Bryant site and the credit card just wouldn't take. I called the bank and they said each attempt had resulted in an authorised transaction but it was never completed. I never managed to make it stick.
If it still isn't working, if you live in the States you can buy Visas with prepaid money at the supermarket. Try that.

Any chance ccp could make some kind of official announcment regarding this problem ? Or perhaps even answering my petition would be a start.
I have a similar problem, I am trying to transfer a character and ERROR: Not Authorised is the only response I get. Tried 2 different cards, both of which have plenty of funds. One of the cards is the one I use to pay my accounts.
Customer service is imperitive as I'm a customer and you, CCP are delivering a service.

i'm having the same problem with my main character/account. i couldn't even log him in here to reply to this topic - saying login details incorrect - which is BS..
evey time i try to reactive the account now, after the initial 'not authorised', i'm now getting
" ERROR: INSERTATTEMPT_MAX_NR_OF_ATTEMPTS_REACHED "
wtf is going on CCP? i had a skill finish training 5 hours after i got booted off at 03.30 eve time and i cant even get back on now to continue training!

as this is not ower fault i realy hope they will reemburst us for lost trainingtime due to ther billing system not working. lucly i have 10 more houers untill my skill training is finished and hope by then that this is fixed.
Ther seem to just come more and more problems with eve. so CCP nead to get ther act together.

Same problem here. Without any reason my account was suspended, and it cannot be reactivated, as any transaction I submit is unauthorized. I called VISA 3 times and they are adamant the problem is on CCP side.
I opened a petition 27 hours ago, but got absolutely no answer from CCP.
I can't even log on the website and had to open a new account to post this...

hm i have problems with reactivate my accounts with gametimecodes thought short to use visa but if i read this i think i should not using 6 diff gtc and no one works
ccp made it again and the reply from petitions and on forum is great like allways
on a rank 1-6 1 for good 6 for bad support i give a hm hm 9

I had the same thing, but there is a solution.
I tried it at home, got NOT AUTHORISED... tried it at work the next day, got NOT AUTHORISED again.
Then I tried it at a friends house who has a different provider then me and where i work and it worked.
So the problem must be ISP related... so if you get the error, go try it at a friends house who has a different internet provider.

He bought ships trained his character and started a new life as a pod pilot in the impressive new univers. The trial ran out and he paid for one month more at the end of this month happy and and chaffing at the bit for more he tried to carry on "NOT AUTHORISED" came up on every card and now max number of attempts reached . What happend next has totaly destroyed his faith in the people running this game and i have to say i was ashamed to even have supported and defended CCP on this. He sent a petition in properly and in order to the right people , it was closed after 10 hours NO FEEDBACK NO REPLY ok now i knew this happens from time to time the staff are hardworked it may just have been over looked lets try again . So with my help we sent another petition off CORRECTLY to the RIGHT section off the support. As yet there is no reply and on trying to create a brand new account same problem . To date there has been no reply or answer to this problem . I may get banned for what i am about to say but CCP simply seem to be ignoring the problem they are loseing new customers and to be frank ticking off the older ones who are trying to get fresh blood in to the game. WHAT IS GOING ON GUYS this isnt a poxy complaint about lag this isnt a rant on some pathetic change to the screen this is us SIMPLY TRYING TO PAY YOU GUYS. do you honestly realy want the money ?. I have always defended everything that CCP has done to date the lag issues the bugs the slow response time and there mysterious ability to lose logs I love the game and have had nothing to complain about befor. Now it seems that people who want to enjoy the game are getting denied the right. LOL well just watch this space i bet you this thread will be shut down everything hushed up and the those that must be obeyed that run this place will remove and deny ANY problem AS USUAL huh guys, and as a side not i expect after this little rant i will mysteriously develope the same problem and wont be able to log on :P . This problem is starting to become really annoying. I petitionned 30 hours ago and got no sign of life from CCP, this is really worrying.
We just got brutaly booted out of the game and cannot possibly get back, you`d think that would catch the attention of CCP. What kind of problem can be more important?

I have exactly the same problem. Tryed 3 diferent cc-s and 2 diferent internet providers nothing helped. The funny thing is i used the same cc wich one i use to pay for my other account and there are no problems on my other acc. I thought that maybe there can't be more than one account on one cc so i tried diferent cc-s from diferent banks but nothing helped. As mentioned i finaly tried at my friends house who has a diferent internet provider. The petition is unanswerd for 24 hours. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to hear from the people responsible from the billing department. At least what they could do is to say ok...we have a problem we are working on it and it will be resolved as soon as possible. But not even this is happening. I am realy realy realy dissapointed with this atitude.

If it was a problem with the ISP, then why would we be booted out of the game in the first place? It really looks like a Billing / Subscriber Management System issue, a bad one.
What I cannot understand is how we do not get an answer in two days. As customer support goes this has no plausible explanation. Could really CCP not have seen this yet? Don`t they read forums once a day? Don't they read petitions? They didn't read mine for sure...
This just doesn't make sense...

yes i am happy this account expires to in a few hours really gooooood wooooork again CCP so this maybe the first time since beta i will miss a few days becouse cant reactivate
btw i using gtc and it looks for me that this not work to in the moment if i had only 1 i would say hm ok but 6 not working i say it is ccp side
and no anwsers on petition that is normal since a longer time now no response on forum is normal to who cares about some customer if the rest is ok so far 2 from my 5 accounts i can not reactivate
i think much ppl have more then one account so be aware ccp that you maybe not have so much ppl playing eve like you think  fix the stuff and give informations to ppl how far you are and what you are doing

I have sold this character but am unable to transfer it. Not my cards fault nor my 2nd cards fault....My bank has no knowledge of any withdrawl attempts. Anyway I use one of the cards to pay for my accounts. I wonder will they be deactivated when my subscription requires payment ?
I have posted numerous times to attempt to get some kind of acknowledgment that CCP are even aware of the problem. A number of people are having the same identical problem.
I sold my character so i wish to have my isk..... I have made committment to buy another account...neither of which I can do.
CCP I am willing to pay for transfer of my sold character but am unable to do so WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please make some kind of statement on this problem as it is hacking a lot of people of. Acknowledge the problem at least instead of ignoring people. The same people who pay for their eve accounts...the same people who pay your wages.

man this **** is ridiculous , all my 3 cards got rejected. 2 of them says failed because of RANGECHECK I never heard of this blasphemy after i activate my alt, i am so gonna buy GTCs to last me till next xmas this is the 2nd time in the last month CCP has been giving me hard time with my CC which i regularly use on many sites with no problem

Maybe its the secure page system... Did I read somewhere that it was being updated to be vista compliant? Anyway, two perfectly good cards got rejected from my computer. Using the same card via a friends computer worked fine. Maybe its my ISP, no idea. Maybe its my OS (Win2K), no idea - my friend is on XP. Maybe its the browser I used (Firefox) - my friend uses IE.

First browser error when validating, then "not authorized" and it's not the first time I am getting these issues. /flame on
Well at a certain point there is only so much a man can do, if they don't want my money there is no way in hell I can force them. They are counting on people's addiction to the game to circumvent the most ridiculous billing system I have come across. Security my boot. This is just an ill conceived billing application from probably first timers that are learning how to make money on our nerves.
So if your cc's that have worked fine until yesterday get the not authorized error u should just book a flight to Iceland with the bills shaking in your hand from so much excitement and pay the cashier up front, or at least that's what it's coming down to in the end. It's a test to how much ...p u can swallow.
Or if 4 credit cards from 2 different banks don't work it just means u don't have enough of them, start filling up applications, 1 out of 10 might just work, for a month or 2, and then u can start all over again.
And so that there is no misunderstanding, the only fault the GM's have in this is that they put up with this themselves and don't give an ultimatum to their management to fix this. I am sure they hate this as much as we do./flame off

All petitions are solved by GM's . I don't know how or what he did but he solved my "not authorised" problem. I petitioned yesterday morning, today I got an answer, simple. I just wanted to give u guys the heads up that they are doing their best to solve the petitions.

well guys...i had the same crappy issue a couple of days ago...sent 3 petitions...none answered. I couldn't post at the forums since my account wasn't activated. So in the desperate crazy measures...i made myself a trial account and commented the issue to an EvE friend...he wasn't aware of this issue...then i'm like hmmm? how do u pay for you account? then he told me...go to Shattered Crystal and buy a time code...
so did that...30 minutes later i was playing :D and still no response from the GM's... just be sure to give em a good working phone #...cause they call u to verify some little stuff...

I got a response but it made no sense, the GM said i was behind a anonymizer/IP mask. All i got is a router so im assuming they confuse the 2.

Just tried it from work, doesnt work here either. I dont know anyone thats NOT behind a router. Maybe ill try and connect directly to my modem but this should really not be happening since like pretty much everyone has a router nowadays.
Besides CC validation is entirely seperate from IP adresses, CC companies take care of securing the transactions, i dont understand where my IP adress comes into the whole equation.

actualy a router do anonymus you a bit. so i whoud but the problem is that many isp also use NAT and that makes it very hard to know who is acualy sending or reciving. as nator Pat as it is cald used non static information to send and recive your information it just uses what is avalable. Pat uses ports do say from were it comes and so on. and that means that if for example your ISP uses PAT in several layers of ther infrastructure will make that the first public ip that is used have no ide from who it is coming from and thus makes it impoible to trace who it is if you dont go in and trace every pakage thure logs in every switch or router in the hole network and that can take years if they have many .

I had a similar "not authorized" problem with billing. Apparently my bank put a block on my account because they thought EVE was a gambling website and they don't allow their accounts to be used for gambling. I got it cleared up the very next day. However right after I authorized the charge I received a phone call from my bank stating they need to verify some activity on my account. Apparently they don't like doing transactions too the British either. LOL! Anyway everything is cleared up and I am happily EVEing again.
Has anyone tried to contact your banks?

Contacted the credit card and the bank, all they can say is they never saw any transaction, and all is fine.

I had much to say - but changed my mind - its not even worth it.
and yes this is happening to a lot of ppl - i think --- i just got back after 4 days of being peeved-off line. realizing a GM might answer my anonymous petition after several weeks i decided waiting would be very unclever so just in an attempt to be clever i bought a GTC.
the GTC has fixed my problem. i got it from battleclinic and paid with PayPal (which btw uses my CC that dont work in eve no more)
2cents where ISP/ the billing system is dap theory is concerned::
my ^^^^@*$$ IPS gives me a *nice* little preconfigured ethernet router that holds on to my Internet routable IP and give my PC some 192.168.x.x address - maybe **thebillingsystem** cant handle such a simple complexion - who knows - who even cares - were all doomed -- lol hahah -- i survived **thebillingsytem** haha im back - dang i need to kill some one --

bump..have same problem...activation of account failed and char transfer failed. No answer from CPP except the sometimes close the petition.

Oh well - I got a reply from a GM yesterday (Friday) - so that was like 6 days - apparently he fixed the problem (I dont think I will check untill after my GTC expires though) - maybe ill just stick with GTCs (GTC ftw)
I am still waiting to see if I can get back any of the lost potential training time and claim against other adverisites resultant from having my account suspended.
good luck to any one else thats having the problem - my confidence in the game was shaken but not destroyed - ill keep on playing - eve-online is still a really good game - i just hate eve-off line - that sucks dogs (something)

Same problems, petition has gone unanswered so far. My CC company removed the temp block and everythign and the transaction still would not go through.

well, just thought in all fairness I should post back to say the GM eventually took care of every thing for me - Im glad again now - mainly because the GM granted my request for lost potential training time and reversed a standing loss i suffered when a mission expired (standing dropped from 9.8 to 9.1 or something - and im sure i dont need to tell any one how long it takes to get standing to go from 9.7 to 9.8 )
any way i understand ppl are still getting this problem and CCP is yet to make any public announcements about it for this month?? any way if it happens to you my advice is PayPal + GTC and petition.
comment about multiple cargers is noted - ill keep my toes and fingers crossed

I actually payed the 22nd, using paybycash, they then proceded to pay CCP, but they accidentally payed twice. They reversed the 2nd payment. However, the 1st payment is at CCP, correctly and all. I have paid, Paybycash HAS paid.
But..
On the 24st I get KICKED out of the game, in the middle of a mining op, because CCP seems to think that my account needs to be suspended because -a- payment has been reversed. Up on til now I have had no solution what so ever from CCP.
I mailed to CCP, and in one of the mails I mentioned that I want the matter solved within a week or I will demand my cash back. And to get my cash back I would refer the situation to my legal insurance.
NOW I get a reaction from CCP, not with a solution, not with an apology, not a ' we are working on it ' no...
They actually mail me that because I -mentioned- my legal insurance, they are not going to do anything about it because they now consider it a legal matter. All I said was, IF you -dont- solve it!? It seems that CCP prefers not to solve it then? or do they assume that they cant solve it in a week?
Im totally fed up with CCP, and most of all their customer support. If you cant handle the amount of petitions, IMPROVE your business so there are less troubles OR hire more staff for the customer service.
Eve-online is a great game, but the customer service is the worst I have ever come across. Perhaps its my luck that only incompotent employees view my case, and there are really good ones too I dont know.
For me, this is it. If it is not solved -tomorrow- after 8 full days of not being able to play, while I have paid and CCP sits on my cash, I will do everything I need to do to get my money + costs back and will post my experiences where ever they seem fit. I think people should know about how paying customers are treated by CCP before they join Eve. Perhaps then, CCP will improve their service.
And no, no-one can have my stuff.

(i am forced to use this trial account as my main cant even login to the forum! perhaps to prevent me posting about the trouble?)

While I cant say I fully agreee with the harshness of some peoples reactions, I am at a complete loss to explain why theres been absolutely zero public response about any of this from CCP.
At the moment the people who this effects are feeling pretty out in the cold. One or two 30 second posts from staffers would have been enough to prevent this, and is no less than subscribers deserve. Seems really bizarre how this is panning out.
Its a bit vague, but hopefully the reference to the billing system in the patch notes for tomorrows patch will fix these issues.

This problem seems random. Last night, I activated my main's account using a credit card. This went smoothly. This afternoon, the very same card, as well as all my other cards, is being rejected as not authorized. Please address this, CCP. What's going on here?

ive payed for teh game with a gtc for three months now, just got a credit card statement and its taken 2 payments and what looks like a char transfer or something because its more money, had the petition open a week now and absolutely no response whatsoever.unfortunately , im not supposed to be using my credit card atm,. i NEED the money refunded. can ccp be prosecuted for what is essentially credit card fraud. i.e taking money without permission ? Peace on earth and fire in the sky! |

I just don't understand how easily CCP seems to be able to ignore a serious billing issue. They're loosing customers who want to give them money but they won't let them.
I had a similar problem about 2 years ago when I tried to upgrade my trial to a full account. I ultimately gave up when I couldn't petition because my account was disabled, and my friend with an account got only some ASP error when trying to petition in game for me. I wanted to make an account but CCP wouldn't let me, and didn't care to fix the problem. I checked the forums and it was a well known issue with dozens of people talking about it, unfortunately I couldn't add anything to the thread because my account was disabled (which is probably similar for most of the people who have this issue). The only reason I'm even playing today is that 2-3 months later another RL friend told me he started playing eve. I randomly tried reactivating my trial and it seemed to work that time.
My point is that a lot of people are often at a point where they're not really sure if they should keep playing an online game. There are things that they hate and make them want to leave, and then there are things they love that make them want to stay. It's actually a tough decision for a lot of people. When you (CCP) go ahead and basically tell them you won't take their money anymore and don't want them as a customer, and give no response to the dozens of people asking here, you pretty much make that decision for them.
I have a friend who has had his account disabled for the last week or so. He can't post here because, well, his account is disabled. He has petitioned through the website, but has had no response for several days. After not being able to even log in and chat with friends for a week now, he's questioning if he even wants to come back and play. "What's the point of reactivating an account with a company that doesn't care about it's players?" he asks me. I try to say that they do care about their players. "Well why do they refuse payment from my valid credit card, ignore all of the people posting about it, and ignore my petition? If they have a faulty billing system, players tell them about it, and they ignore those people and continue refusing customers without any communication, why would I have any expectation to not run into this problem next month? or the month after that? Why should I put faith in people who only show me that they don't deserve it?"
I don't know what to tell him. CCP, please get this issue sorted. I'm about to loose a friend from this game because he thinks you don't want him as a customer anymore. I've been there myself, I know how it feels. You can be told all the positive things in the world, but at the end of the day when you go and put your valid credit card in (for the Nth day in a row..), and again it tells you "Not authorized", and again you go to see that CCP has not acknowledged the issue or done anything about it, it's hard not to ask "is this is all really worth it?"

my alt has been out all week, with this no authorizing credit card issue, on 4 different credit cards. what a joke, im so seriously disgusted by all this, been playing a year and a half or near that, and now..poof...nothing. try emailing their customer support email address on the account page, all it did was say that THEIR mail server could not deliver it. petitioned 2 days ago, not a peep. finding more and more posts like in these threads, and its frankly, discouraging....
