As a player of Warhammer 40,000 and ofc EVE , the space ships of both universes have appealed to me greatly. the ships from the warhammer 40k universe are available in various scale models and i have enjoyed building variants and converting the kits.
after building particularly detailed conversion (pic incoming when camera available) i found i had accidentally built something very similar to a merlin frigate, i had never thought of building scale models of the eve ships before.
i figured this could be something i could not only do for fun but could spread the joy and sell some of them.
so who would be interested and what ships would you like to see ?
wouldn't really work to scale but models would be around shoebox sized and smaller depending on the ship. |

The important question is who Wouldn't be interested, as the members of said uninterested group would certainly be so sparse as to all be easily packed into a phone booth and set aflame.
just.. you know, an idea.
but, more to the point.. models, good.
plush vexor pillows with a sewn pocket full of drones.. better.

Anyway, look for some of those, some interesting ideas and numbers have been tossed around.

While were at it...
The girlfriend asked if she could get a rubber Stabber about 8 inches long that contains a battery compartment to power that shaking around stuff we see on the monitor when the ship is coming out of warp.
She won't tell me what she wants it for seeing she don't even play EvE.
OH! And it has to say "Warp Drive Engaged" and make that WHOOOOSH noise.
Why the H... would she want that?! I dunno. I'll never understand women .

Edited by: Phoenix Lord on 17/10/2007 04:25:16 Yea ive seen several of these threads, only bothered to follow the first one till i saw a dev answer.
Basically, the R&D would be too expensive to justify making them. The only way apparently, was to make them expensive or not at all, and if they were expensive, they would barely sell.
EDIT: I could be wrong though, remember that; but thats what i remember hearing from one of the devs in a thread. _____

Would she prefer a big black Armageddon that shakes around like it's going into warp with the touch of a switch?

I want full a scale model of the Megathron please.
I will even help build it.
I believe that means we need all the metals that the entire earth has, and more than the nuclear power plants that are built on the planet to get 7 blaster cannons to fire antimatter ammo really, really, really fast!

It wouldn't actually cost that much. Two members of Octavian Vanguard got married in RL about 3 years back and we had two spaceships made for them from the game Jumpgate which was where they originally met. It was a sizeable collection, but nothing CCP couldn't handle. Once you've got the first one made, you've got a mould and you can go from there. The 3D CNC stuff was the pricy bit.

Yes, the EVE forums catch-22.
As far as the actual question: Hell yeah, I'd like some EVE spaceship models/miniatures/toys! I'll take a pillow, too. A nice big comfy Dominix.

Edited by: Andrue on 17/10/2007 14:32:30 This has been asked about several times and usually results in a lot of positive responses. Unfortunately I think the problem is finding a sensible price point.
A lot of people would only be prepared to pay $20 and about all you'll get for that is a plastic, badly painted model. Fun I suppose if you want to play Eve during DT or hang them from your bedroom ceiling but basically naff, tat.
A fair number of people (me for one) would like decent die-cast models large and good enough to put on the mantle-piece or coffee table. Unfortunately you're then talking about $100 or more. There's not many people who would be prepared to pay that kind of money.
Note to CCP:I would be prepared to pay those kind of sums subject to quality and 'displayability factor' -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Check with CCP first!
You have to fill in a form and sign it. I looked into it a while ago and mailed Kieron. I've got half a rifter built out of Polystyrene foam using a hot wire cutter. I was looking into different materials for different ship parts and types.
I was getting some practice in with the cutter. I used the really thin plywood to make templates for the hotwire cutter. To make the templates I imported ship models into Cinema 4d so I could easily view and measure the dimensions. The more you look at even the simplest models the more you realise how difficult it is. I was planning to build a mould once I had the prototype built.
But real life caught up and I don't have the time.
/start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game three years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

Yes, you need to get a non commercial license agreement just to make a model for personal usage (got one as well as I plan to build an Ishtar shaped computer case).
No idea what the options are if you plan to sell items based on CCP intellectual property.
