Many dedicated drone ships have increased dronebay, to field replacement drones, but as you dont know which drone is damaged and which not, it id neccessary to move the damaged drones to a diffrent group while they are still in space, then scoop.
Thas a bit cumbersome, and could be helped with damage status visible while they are in dronebay.
I agree and not necessarily because we'd changed it so shield doesn't heal in station although that makes the problem a bit more visible.
This is actually not as easy as you'd think it would be but a whole lot easier than I originally thought it would be, so hopefully we can put this in the pipeline and fix it post Trinity expansion.
Thats the last I say about this in this thread, we should probably stay on topic here.
Highlighted important part.
So you are saying that station huggers are screwed now ? So no lame redock/undock tactics anymore ?

well... about the new overview...
the icons at the top are very small now.
and you can't adjust sizes very quick, you have to go and unpin every single component of the overview and resize it, trying to match the other blocks in size.
and if you minimize blocks you don't want to see, it fills up your taskbar which is also annoying.
that could definitely use some more work, to make it not LESS convenient to use than what we had.

Okay, here's something I've run into that I don't much care for.
If I take the 'selected item' interface and move it, say, to the left side of the screen or top all of my targets appear overlaying (or under) the box. If I drag it down toward the bottom of the screen all the targets relocate in a line above it.
I'd like to be able to define where my targets appear, not just linked to the selected item box.

Please do something about the module activation colors. Its not even a personal preference, its an usability improvement. You can even add it to the marketing blurb when you launch...
Please do something about those colors....

What about autopilot information? I'd like the info displayed like this:
* Dunraelare [Sinq Laison] (Next Jump) * Pucherie [Sinq Laison] (Next Waypoint) * Jita [The Forge] (Final Destination)
If you open the map, then under final destination all other jumps are displayed.
The information about next waypoint would be really really useful. :)

If you look at your screenshot then you will notice a targeting icon in the top-right corner. Move it and then you move the the locked targets. We'll look into why they are on the far right (didn't happen on my computer...), the default location should be as before, slightly to the left of the overview.
Originally by: Menellaix The ship control panel is still stuck in the bottom center as well.
Future thing we are considering, as a part of dual-monitor support.
Is it not possible to make all the moveable parts movable OFF the current screen onto a second or third monitor to allow us to see more of the emptiness of space?
Also eve voice ... as said numerous times, price (when people start getting charged) and not being able to use when off line will make it less likely to use... Beyond that though, assuming people are using it enough for FCs to actually use it, please please please USE THE KEYBOARD. Allow us to toggle all those eve voice buttons to set keyboard strokes, so when we "puch to talk" we can immediately hit a button and give acommand to squad one then hit another button and talk to fleet (similar to command channel on TS) also add a command channel to eve voice to allow the "bosses" to strategize without talking to the whole fleet

Do you see the target origin icon next to the selected item window (top-left), just above and to the right of the active target? Move it to where you like to have the active targets.

Edited by: Komen on 04/11/2007 18:09:33 All of these changes to UI are welcome indeed. Thank you CCP. And where they are lacking, I have faith that (eventually) those lacks will be filled in.
Best wishes for a relatively bug-free deployment. (fingers crossed, and new vidcard ordered for those shiny SM3 Trinity v2 graphiks)

Until you get the option to run it without the client AND when the eve servers are down or hosed it'll never replace TS no matter how nice you make it.
HEAR HEAR!!! That's also why I run TS/ventrilo on another machine. That's saved my ass a lot of times because of crashes etc on my EVE client computer. I am still able to talk to people when things like that happens...

you need to add dual monitor support so that the misc windows (market, cargo, chats, etc) can be dragged outside the application window like adobe photoshop .. thus giving all the data on one monitor and all the beuty/actual gameplay fullscreen on the other
but still a good start

I kind of thought the proposed and much hated changes to the carrier had something to do with forcing more people to use EVE voice. I echo what has been said before, TS or Vent work perfectly well and allow me to tell my gang/fleet commander that IÆve crashed so he can adjust his play accordingly. Other benefits include being able to tell mission running gangmates that that they need to protect my ship until it warps out after a crash. EVE voice has an inherent problem, once EVE crashes it does too.
The UI stuff is nice, looking forward to using it.

It could be really useful to add numbers to the gang list so you can address your mates as "2, do this", instead of having to lose (sometimes, a lot of) time reading or pronunciating names. Much "a-la" Star Wars. Maybe also would be good to have the ship model in the gang interface; sometimes you have to lose some time asking and checking which ship is every one of your squadmates piloting. Well, just two suggestions regarding the fleet interface. Thanks for your time!

instead of fixing that eve voice communication thing, why not bring back the original eve voice that was released with the game? The new lady saying "warp drive active" sounds like she has a **** in her mouth.

Well guys, FanFest is over and we had a big announcement regarding EVE Voice there. Namely, from Trinity release and onward, EVE Voice will be FREE for use!
All accounts on Tranquility will be voice enabled automatically as well. No hassle. Just fun and free :)

Yeah... I just read that dev blog, and all the subsequent posts and wondered why everyone was complaining about having to pay for eve voice when the dev blog had this written in it:
Quote: By the way. EVE Voice, starting from Trinity release, will be completely FREE for use. All accounts will be voice-enabled with the new expansion and there will be no extra cost involved for using EVE Voice.
Edit maybe?
Anyway, making voice free will be a huge improvement for gameplay, and will deal away with vent/TS hacking and a good deal of TS spies (but not all of them!).

Sweet! Big corps and alliances with their TS network already set up will continue using that, I'm sure. But for small corps like mine this is great. I'll be using it for sure! --- Proud Amarr pilot.

The changes so far are a step in the right direction so I do thank you for that. Hopefully this will make the game more user friendly. The question I have relates to preferences that can never be kept. For example:
When you open a can, you see the thumbnail graphic of the item and it's name. I dont need to see yet another picture of a 10MN afterburner that I've looted for the 10,000th time this week. The 'list' view is sufficient..yet I can't make every can default to that view. Why can't that preference be set for every can/wreck/whatever?
In the same vein, this applies to private chat windows. I don't necessarily need to see a thumbnail of every person in the private chat, nor have the thumbnail of the person appear every time they type something nor do I need the font in it's original size. My corp chat preferences show text..nothing else. Why can't I set preferences for private chat windows that cover EVERY private chat window?
Lastly...the combat log. Christ this window is a mess. The default sort appends each line to the bottom of the list yet the window itself does not autoscroll to keep up. So to watch the log stream by (because the 1 line black box is utterly worthless) I have to click the column twice (the first click that puts the down arrow is the same as the window default) to get the log to append to the top so the window always displays the relevant information.
Speaking of relevant information. I do not need to see the Timestamp, turret that was used, Odd descriptor of how poorly or well I hit, the name of the ship I hit and finally see the damage. Sometimes I just want numbers. I know that my damage dealt is yellow, damage taken is red. Perfect. Let me see numbers and numbers only. what gun I use means nothing as they are all the same. I can also tell how well I hit by the number. I dont need to know if it was a glancing blow or lightly scratched. The window already takes up too much space given the fact the text doesn't auto-wrap. All I need is a 6 column windows with numbers.
What we should have is the option to place any combat message into any chat window we wish. That way, I can let the numbers stream by in their own little vertical window and important information like warp scramble, webbed, sensor dampened, tracking disrupted could appear in their own window with, of course, the text being color coded according to my own preferences for easier viewing.
So your changes to date are a step in the right direction...now keep walking in that same direction and really make the UI customizable and usable.

Awesome - now people might actually use it! :D
Recommend you make a new post about this, editing it into the end of an old dev blog and posting on the thread doesn't get the news out. You're giving something awesome away, make a fuss about it!

Ok I was excited to try EvE Voice after I got back from the FF. Seems to work well, but I am having a couple of issues:
1. It totally sucks that you cant select ANY key for push to talk, and that it has to be chosen from a specific set of keys. The only convenient one is CTRL, but when I talk and zoom the screen changes to the system map. I removed the shortcut that does that from the options (ESC menu), but it still does it.
2. Volume control. I don't know if this is EvE-voice's fault or someone's individual settings, but getting a uniform volume for people is painful. Some are coming in extremely loud while others extremely low. I have had to dynamically turn my volume knob when listening to people.
