One hassle is that you have to lock a ship then use the cargo scanner...which means that almost every ship at a gate gets locked...causing probs for newer players who think they are under attack and sometimes fire back..with resulting loss. Older player hope the targeting ship will shoot...lol.
Are the passives working correctly again or must all ships go through the nuisance of being target locked...
Buddy lost Caracal last night trying this out, made profit from insurance....absolutely amazing what peeps carry in pidley little ships...100m in an ibis...and peeps wonder why noobs get targetted...lol

Then to counter people like you, the game should have battleindies made specific for safe transport just to keep your "liberating" butts from killing people in safe space. That or put a concord fleet at each gate....
1.0 isn't supposed to be gate campable as how people are doing it now, even stated by the devs. You should be camping 0.0 gates unless your a weenie carebear pirate...
Just FYI, it's about 9 months since I last fired on a ship in empire space. Was back in my previous corp. * When we defended a 0.05 empire system that we claimed (until CCP removed rare ore from empire space). * When we attacked a corporation that started to compete with us on Maller sales (back then, a Maller cost about 14M, so that was our biggest income).
All I did was to say my opinion. I know it's only the devs opinions that matters. But I still declare anyone transporting high minerals, blueprints, or tech 2/rare meta stuff in industrial an idiot.

Caracal plus standard equipment and enough ammo to gank an indy = 5M isk
Cargo Scanning an indy = free
Suicidal attack on indy carrying megacyte through Yulai = priceless.

... For what's worth, bumping indy hp to the point where it takes 3-4 full kestrel salvos to kill one, wouldn't really hurt the game imo... they would be as easy to destroy in 'dangerous' space as they're now, while not falling to every 1-week old alt in 1.0 >>;

I've never understood why indies had to put up with being slow AND weak.
I know that when I used to be in curse hitting indies the hardest ones to kill were Mammoth's, especially if they had a shield booster equipped. Of course, the correct combination of dmg types on your cruise missiles helps too.

With that said I must agree with you though. 1.0 is supposed to be totally safe for the newbs to learn the game some before being driven away by a punk that can't hold his own in an even match. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Yea. We weren't first. But we made good money from them.
And back then there were no highways... Much easier to sell with good profit. So when that corp started selling them 2 jumps away from our location we went there shooting.
It's really a shame that few corps has/had the balls to do that instead of just undercutting each others prices all the time.

Quote: Industrials are a blatant waste of coding, there built for large haulng, as slow as battleships, half the size, no guns, no armor, little shields. I mean why not give traders something that would be half way worth trying to be a professional trader? These things are floating targets, as most pirates and pvprs love. Less skill in killing one.
Even mark traders are beginning to do all their business in battleships
Yeah give the traders a good ship! A huge damn slow indy with 5k shields. Make it 50 million so not any noob can fly it but make one! I mean: Just look at the mammoth! It's bigger than most battleships but got the shields of a frigate. That's just wrong! As long they're still slow it wouldn't be unfair too since a typical well planned pirate ambush can kill that ship still.

This is a serious question: How does people that transport megacyte in industrials think? Do they go some thing like this:
"Ok, so today I'm gonna transport 15000 megacyte, worth 100M+. What ship should I use? I can take my battleships, it's damn slow, but has lots of HP. I can take my frigate, it's damn weak, but moves at 5km/second. Ahhh, no, wait, I take my industrial. It's ³ber slow and has no hp at all. That must be the best choice."

No kidding.
Seriously people, if you're going to transport megacyte, do it in something that won't get ganked.
If you have just a few thousand, use a bloody turbo-frigate! Seriously, if you're travelling at 5-7km/s toward that gate, the only thing that MIGHT get you is a large smartbomb, and nobody in their right mind is going to be gatecamping in empire space in a battleship using a large smartbomb near a gate.
Hell, use a cruiser with 2 MWDs, it'll work just as well. Indies are for low-end minerals and trade goods. Not Megacyte, Morphite, and Zydrine. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

Your missing the point..
A player should already know that. In 0.0 space you should transport rare ore in a battleship. Duh. And if your hauling a bunch of battleship blueprints like an idiot. You should have at least 30 battleship escorts with you. These are givensà
It's also a given that 1.0 space was not meant to be camped by pirate corps.

To actually be picky the M1A2 is the upgraded version of the M1A1. The Bradley IFV is designated as M2, some versions are the M3, but thats the CFV.

The devs should really have players turn over fire control to concord when they jump into a 1.0 system, the only thing that could be fired upon would be those tutorial drones and other valid npc targets...

I might think that, but my opinion is completely worthless as well.
The Devs, whose opinion IS important, have stated that this tactic is considered illegal, and are working on ways to remove it. Ergo, it IS considered illegal, and nobody should be doing it.

oh dear, you better go back and study your military hardware before you get picky on someone. the original poster is correct.
the M1, M1A1 AND the M1A2 are all Abrams MBT's built by the US. there was also an experimental version of the M1A3 Abrams on the books last i checked.
the M2 is the Bradley APC you are talking about, and the M3 is the cavalry fighting vehicle variant of the Bradley which looks pretty much the same, except has a bunch of gun ports all around the hull.
...c'mon, everyone knows this...;)

Nope ... they think more along the lines of, "I am staying in high-security space, therefore it's irrelevant what ship I use because I am safe there."
And if it weren't for people who make it their aim to find ways of circumventing the dev's intentions, they'd be right.

Actually I believe Molly said it best: The only space your safe in is the space you're alone in.
For one thing 100% safety is not good for the game. Not the huge spanning areas of +5 space at least. All it does is make the shocked look people invariably have more exaggerated when something bad happens. And I'm not just talking about inside high sec space. A person accustomed to the utter safety of high sec space has the most visceral "Oh my f'ing God!!!" reaction the first time something happens outside .5 areas. They're not used to it. They've usually never considered the possibility. And they've usually never considered how to prevent taking huge losses because of it. Disneyland Meets AfghanistanÖ is no way to ease people into dangerous situations.
The other reason large gaps of 100% secure space isn't good is the resulting effects it has on the game. The larger the areas of space that are 100% safe, the more profitable those areas are. Especially for the more advanced players. Look at battleship mining in high security areas. Do you think the ores in 1.0 solar systems are mined out by newbies in probes and imicus? The stations left bereft of trade goods when downtime trading was possible because of the massive influx of newbies buying things out with the leftover isk from their 1st agent mission? The larger the areas of safe space, the less incentive there is for the people who should not still be there to leave.
Now new players getting caught in the crossfire between the more advanced players isn't good. 'Crossfire' not refering to some newbie wandering between a missile and it's target. But meaning the newbie getting popped alongside the advanced players due to poor identification. Seriously, while some would pop the newbie for kicks most are after those industrials carrying megacyte. But 100% safe areas isn't much of an answer either.

Personally I like the idea that was suggested of increasing the hull str/armour on the indies to the point that a few cruise missile salvos from frigates can't destroy it.

I allways thought that Indys were ment to encourage teamwork. It cant defend itself, so it carries stuff for others which are defending it, allowing a clan in 0.0 space to have a long mineing session, and then together take it back to secure space in large quantities.
I'm guessing that the only people who have a problem with this are lone wolfs, but then, is a ship which only has space for one mineing lazer good for you?

Okay given the mindwarping speeds that battleships and industrials are capable of, do you expect Titans to be:
A) Faster B) Slower
God, I think you caused a pirate somewhere to have an orgasm thinking about a Titan flying about by itself loaded down like the industrials are currently.
