I'm a noob so I cannot compare with the PC version, but hell, I've got EVE for a week now and I LOVE IT. Ok I had the occasional client freeze, then I quit and RS, no big deal really- in my life I yet have to experience an online 100% crash-free game from the first minute to the last!
So that's a big YES here. I'm having a blast.

The mac client is too buggy (see my thread "lost connection to server") and the developer won't acknowledge that there is an issue! If they were working on it, I might be willing to hang and work with them, but I have no patience for this.
I've sent in a bug report (complete with crash log etc.), and they responded that they were already aware of the issue and would add my information to the case file. Now, I have no idea what resources they dedicate to solving the problem, but they do acknowledge there is a problem. Which is a good start.
I'll run in trial mode for a few more days until I know how it works for me (only been 3 days this far), then we'll see.

As it stands now: No. You're better off using crossover. For me at least. (MacBook, 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, integrated)
But, I'm hopeful CCP will turn out a working client soon. So, include me in the I'll wait catagory.

if they dont fix it before my free trial is up, it would be nice if we can somehow flag our accounts with them so they let us have another free trial, maybe only like 4 days, when they claim to have more bugs fixed. i dont see paying them to hope the next patch works ok.
maybe try to get another free trial and play newbie for a few days and if it works good then go back to the old account. If there is no way for me to try for free and know its going to work ok, I'm just not going to worry about playing ever. Usually I have more faith in game companies, but if I had paid them right now I'd be asking them for a refund.

No.
I started on the windows client using Boot Camp and switched to the Mac client when it came out, but all it has done so far is crash both itself and Leopard in some really unplesant ways, i've lost one ship since playing and that was due to what can only be described as 0fps from the moment combat started to the moment it ended, in my death.

No, I wouldn't suggest you pay for this if all you have is a Mac. It isn't worth it right now.
However, for me (running on Leopard, MacBook Pro) the game is very much playable. There are a few major issues for me (such as the price history display having no text) but most of the other issues I have are minor (wierd texture when using mining lasers) not really affecting my playability. I don't PvP at all, so I can't speak to how well it works in PvP battles. I have a Windows/Linux machine next to me that I can let EVE do it's thing on when I'm doing real work on my Mac, and run EVE on the mac when I'm elsewhere and doing less intensive stuff.

My vote, ABSOLUTELY YES.
I actually found the game playable even with the frequent disconnects -- I'm logged back on in seconds, and even running kill missions I haven't lost my ship or anything at all, because the game warps you away when you DC and warps you right back when you reconnect. Now that the disconnects and freezes have almost entirely gone away for me, I'll definitely be subscribing as soon as real life allows. I actually found the HUMONGOUS AMOUNT of skill training I needed to do much more annoying than the texture problems, lag, or disconnects.
I don't think the Mac experience NEEDS to be absolutely equal to the Windows experience. I think it needs to be playable and that's it.

No.
Unfortunately. And this is just because of the Cider Runtime Library Error (aka. Lost Connection).

Good to hear your feedback on the client.
I would suggest that everyone who said NO in this thread go to our bug report page and file one bug report per bug that made them say NO. Please include screenshots and a good description and I will make sure that we'll try to fix it as soon as possible!

after using the client quite a bit on my macbook pro I can say this: if you're doing empire mission running and not at war or just a miner, go for it! and my answer is yes.
if you're trying to pvp, especially in big fleet battles, likes to cmd+tab to do other stuff with eve open (makes everything else run REALLY slow), try to do administrative tasks such as changing channel settings, or anything that requires your connection to be stable or you'll die, then no.

This seems to have been a mistake. I'm going to have this bug report untrashed and attached to our defect on this issue.
And make sure you all attach information about your hardware setup:
Mac System Information: Apple provides a very thorough tool for collecting system information. The steps to use it are as follows:
* Select "About This Mac" from the Apple Menu (The picture of the Apple on the System Menubar) * # Click the "More Info..." button on the "About This Mac" dialog that appears. * Select "Save" from the System Profiler File menu * Save to a file on your Desktop in "System Profiler 4.0 XML" format. * By default this creates a file named .spx Get the users to upload this file along with bug reports.

I also vote NO at the moment. I get the same issue as above although I think it is because of the hardware I have more than anything else.
I have also never encountered a program that can BSOD a Mac with such ease. I have never had to pull the power cord on a Mac before! Guys, serious props, you're breaking OSX - woot!
I am trying it on an Intel Mini 1.66Ghz Core Duo with 2Gb Ram and 10.4.10.Even with the graphics settings as low as I can get them and on maximum zoom out it is an epileptic fit waiting to happen
On the other hand it works just fine on my wifes Core 2 Duo 15"MBP - which she won't swap with me for some reason

FYI, Macs don't have a Print Screen button. You might want to update the "How to get the information we need" page with the correct information.

Yes.
Running natively, I've only encountered occasional crashes. Although this may be unacceptable to some, this is a rev 1 product. And the game looks gorgeous on a 20" iMac.

Yes.
But with precautions: I had to wipe EVE once and sometimes it gets buggy, crashing constantly, then again it can be stable for hours; on a MBP with 10.4.10; the string copy-paste issue is another larger nuisance IMHO, but should be solved soon, I hope. Anyway, I do not feel bad about having inscribed, quite the contrary so far.

As you can see, that page is not only for Mac. To make a screenshot on a Mac you have to press Command+Shift+3. The screenshot will be saved on your desktop.

That doesn't seem to be working for me. Command-shift-4 does in windowed mode though.

I just started playing a day or two ago. I started out playing under bootcamp and it was fine, but I was getting alot of disconnections and crashes with the mac client initially.
Since then, the Mac client seems to have stabilized for whatever reason and is very playable - granted this is outside any kind of heavy combat situations so YMMV in those instances.
However, I have noticed that my general Leopard install seems a bit less stable after using the EVE client. After a few hours of play last night I had a hard time getting iTunes and other apps to close and open gracefully, and I had to restart the computer to regain the stability.
Obviously, being able to run bootcamp means I'm more inclined to continue my subscription. However, causing general Leopard instability is pretty unacceptable and I think I'll be going into XP via bootcamp to play from now on.

As of right now, if I only owned a Mac, I would not buy the subscription. The client is too unstable to do anything but sit in station and train skills.
Right now, I'm using my MacBook at work just to chat with corp mates, train skills and confuse our enemies as to what timezone I'm active in (or am I? :P)
Anyways, right now the client is a glorified skill training/irc program.
Would love to play on the road though...but I'm not going to risk going into space as of now.

So far I would say yes on an early iMac with Leopard. In about 10 hours of play I have had only two crashes and one disconnect.
However, I am now running in windowed mode only!
In full screen mode, crashes do not crash your OS X, however you can't use expose, spaces, alt-tab etc... to go to your OS X desktop and force quit Eve, the only way out is a hard reboot. Therefore the need to run in windowed mode.
Hope this gets fixed.
