Well Im all up for joystick driven space sim, i miss it in Eve, nothing beats true dogfighting:)
Infinity looks nice but as somebody noticed unprofessional, imho big chances are it will never see be finished.
Blackprophecy looks like total Eve rip off lol.
If jumpgate evolution is made and has neaningfull pvp i will prolly try it, like said joystick for true flying:) -

With Black Prophecy it looks like they are trying to contend with EVE directly - The shiny ship that has the same colors as a Vexor and looks a lot like it gives it away, really. Only thing is that it tries to compete with EVE as it was, and not as it will be, and that will be it's downfall.
The real problem I see is that they might not have the manpower. One of Neocron's problem was in my eyes that they have fired most of the devs some time after release or at least that the devs moved on for whatever reason. They just stayed for like two months, until the missing content was finished, that wasn't ready at release date and then the lead dev and others weren't seen again. KK knows, how to write a good action based pvp mmorpg, but in the case of Neocron, they let it starve again. That game still has an extreme potential, but would need a complete overhaul now.
Have still some respect for them, since they wrote an mmorpg with first-person shooter like interface, where pvp wasn't optional, but had an extreme influence on the gameworld. Most game developers are still too afraid to do it and some claim now that they are inventing it and going into that direction, although Neocron has already done it years ago and more extreme.

Still, if these guys are cheaper/buy and play games, then I may get them just to test them out. Are there any release dates on them?
How long have you been playing ? I can remember when 7k on a weeknight was a lot of people. Now it's 20k+.

If you read a little about Black Prophesy, then you know that its not a real MMORPG.
The latest news was that the max amount of people in one "game" was 300 people.
Ofcourse, its in a very early stage of development. (10 months now) So it might change.. But for all we know now, it'll be like a Guild Wars in space.

I don`t think that Star Trek Online will be a threat to Eve. They have both spaceships and there the similarity ends. Star Trek Online has no real market, no real consequences, no real PvP to name a few things.
And you can only play as the nice federation guy how wants to save the universe, or the nice federation guy how wants to save the planet and of course the nice federation guy how wants to save everything.
But I think if ever released Star Trek Online will increace the Eve Playerase not decrease it. As it now stand it will be an easy going casual mmorpg with a little bit of rp. And the odds are good that a part of the new Players the Star trek licence will attract will end up in eve after they realise the limitations of Star trek online.

I'm not religious about games, but due to Star Trek fandom I'll have to *try* STO.
But I'm pretty sure I'll play EVE until they pull the plug. Who want;s to be a newb again... -- Soltaris > wow... now that sounds like a good time! What do you need from me?
Togotchen Renamour > You need to shave your body smooth, and get hold of a Gorn costume. Also, learn the lyrics to "I love a parade".

If they make it "fun" like games like wow, and such, are, then it could be a contender.
EVE, in a nutshell, is either work or exciting, but it's very, VERY rarely the "game" type of fun.

Black Prophecy looks pretty interesting. I enjoyed the atmosphere of NeoCron (not much for extended gameplay, unfortunately, though they did some social things right).
Infinity looks as lame as it did four years ago. ~

I still have dreams of Via Rosso and Plaza. I once stood at the top floor infront of medical throwing out 2 bil cashcubes.
While the architechture was wonderfully memorable, the game wasn't that great. I was in the sewer killing rats with a nailgun until I decided to take a walk to the military base and tech haven. Yeah, that was a bit tough.
:) We did manage to capture and hold a few factories.

I just played the Infinity Combat Prototype. Ir's not bad... I guess. I prefer EvE Combat right now. Because they said that ICP Combat is ment to be player skill, not RPG Stats, but then they added AI into the game, who always have a perfect shot. And since more than half the team is AI, it sucks badly. I wouldn't worry about either of these games, they're going to turn out really bad. _____________________________ Thorek Ironbrow of Ironbrow Industries Co. Did anyone else notice the semi-realistic laws of physics in Infinity's combat prototype video? Ships flew in one direction until they were prompted in to another.
Yes, ships looked ugly due to lame uninteresting textures but that was a prototype. I really liked the idea of flying to planets and near their surface. Now that is exploration.
I think I would try this, not that it comes anywhere close to the scale of Eve (excluding planetside flying).

untill eve gets that :) which is why people are saying that.
the problem is eve is evoling. if eve stayed the same and just got new ships and such, infinity would be fine... but... with eve-online added land combat, plantary flight, walking, what will it have to offer?
it will be fun, but it's one selling point killapt is being taken by eve very soon. Official fanboy of jenny< pink supporter! looking to work in the art department with CCP, 3 years and counting. http://www.digipen.edu/main/Gallery_Games_2004#Narbacular_Dropthi |

True, but Infinity does have some merits that EVE would have a hard time matching, primarily their exploration and travel mechanism. Since their universe is procedurally generated, you don't just have 5000 systems that you're limited too. You can literally aim your ship in a direction and fly for a month until you find something you can land on.
Interesting stuff, I think. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

Someone needs to find out how to purchase the rights to make a BattleTech MMORPG.
I want to man a PPC turret on a dropship while it drops my buddies to the LZ.
Or fly an AeroSpace fighter and do strafing runs on the enemy.
or skill up to be a mechanic and keep all my buddies 'Mechs working.
And of course... to pilot an Atlas or a Daishi and lumber accross the landscape blowing stuff up.
Or do recon in a small and fast Hovertank avoiding the enemy VTOLs

I will definatly try Star Trek Online for the simple reason that im a huge trek fan, it probably wont be as good as EVE though.
I like how EVE plays and what you can do in it and how you train skills, I just wish it was based in the trek or babylon 5 universe :)
I would love to fly a borg cube or a shadow vessel.

World of Warcraft in space, if your ship is destroyed you can tow it back to the station to get it repaired so you never really lose anything. -----

This is something that is very exciting.
EVE kinda does have that boxed in zone feeling from having to jump between star systems. There is no loading screen (thank god) but you still get that feeling of moving to another zone even if it is pretty seamless.
Imagine no stargates, or very few that are there as an option for quick travel across galactic quadrants/sectors only. Imagine setting course to a star system and it will take anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks to get to. While your ship is on its way you can walk around your ship (maybe enter its holodek, lol) you could take detours along the way, there may be a nebula you could chart or a moon, planet or roid you can land on and explore where you might find missions or a hostile species. you may need to dock at spacestation along your flightpath to make repairs or restock.
Ok I could go on lol ...but anyway you get the idea
I love EVE though

well don't forget tarminic the CEO talked about system wide aseroid belts in the live dev blog, even stated something about being able to fly through huge belts that circle systems and stuff.
so while eve doesn't have it now it might some day.
and if this game wants to compete it needs to get out sooner than later so they start expanding and making the game better.
I'm just saying... I was in love with this game for the past 3 years (not eve) and I was let down in total :( and I really hope it comes out soon... because it sounds great.
lets not forget that dev interview where they talked about making fighters out of carriers joystick controlled. Official fanboy of jenny< pink supporter! looking to work in the art department with CCP, 3 years and counting. http://www.digipen.edu/main/Gallery_Games_2004#Narbacular_Dropthi |

Personally i'm going to try age of conan when its released, but i'll probably keep my eve account active too.

Black Prophecy? sounds like a damnation to me
But seriously, while those 4 screenshots might like pretty good there's only 4 of em, which means it's very far from any form of playability
And infinty is a joke, it won't ever happen
