[61] its because this game appeals to the "achiever" player type in that Bartle MUD taxonomy. what it needs (as everyone keeps saying) is more trivial but fun stuff you don't get paid for but don't mind not being paid for, and less emphasis on finding a little niche to exploit so that the player can dominate and "beat" the game by getting the max amount of money per unit of time spent logged on. However, the kind of "trivial but fun" things everyone has great ideas about in the ideas lab are hard to implement given the nature of the internet and bandwidth and all the rest of it. Don't you think CCP know what great things a game like this could do if the whole world could instantly send as much data as they liked over and back through the crappy copper wires or whatever the hell the internet is made of? for example, just changing those Concord news boards so that players can advertise their (mis)deeds sounds like a right pain in the arse I think most people start and continue in this game because they can see its potential. I'm quite happy to give it another 3-6 months (and keep on sliding the once-mighty dollar) for 50 quid. I'm glad your stupid little missile building or zydrine niche has been screwed - get over it. There is just so much whinging on these boards and it's the same thing every time. my favourite is "hey, since the last patch, are people still getting implant drops cos I'm not.....oh tell a lie 2 days later it's ok again" and ENDLESS speculation about bloody the Blueprint lottery and research points. Go and look up lottery in the dictionary, some people get lucky and some people get lucky twice or three times in a short space of time. Rant over (Just realised - this is a meta-whinge) |

[63] Lol, logging off doesn't affect your monthly payment. Those who aim at nothing, will most certainly hit that! |

[65] quote: '(and keep on sliding the once-mighty dollar) for 50 quid.' Interesting: hasn't eve not changed its billing currency from $ to euros? - much stronger than the dollar by about ú2 per month? I think that is cheeky - or am i wrong about the currency change? |

[67] Dearie me... Frankly, lets think about this; on average, you get how many players a day? 5K at least? Ok... now, since the majority are happy with the game (Or seem to be), lets say only a small amount petition each day, say 5%. That's still 250 people. Perhaps per day. How many support staff do you reckon they have? I doubt there'd be that many, given that they have to pay for publishing, advertising, merchandise, server engineers etc. So, limited staff + loads of whining peitions witha f ew valid points. Give them a break for goodness sake! You're trying to balance a game that has 7000+ INDIVIDUALS who all have their own ideas. Just like in a real economy, you're gonna get screwed if something goes the wrong way. Cut them some slack. For the most part, the game runs fine, and of course it'll be buggy. It's a very complex game. Trust, you didn't WANT to see it during beta... though that display at ECTS was quite nice... anyway, people are getting all high and mighty about how much they want the devs to do for THEM.... I don't hear much about the community. So, give them some slack.. four days! that's pretty good if they're sifitng thru a load of emails and petitions from new players who are pnicking or asking for help because they just got podded by some self-righteous peopl who want to universe crafted in their image. Ok, reading that last paragraph, i'm getting vitriolic... apologies, but really; these guys put in a lot of work for us, so whining about how you lost a few mil (When you pobably already have loads) will do nothing save probably discouraging them from releasing ANY new updates. Hey, if this was a Mircosoft product, it'd crash a lot more AND email your credit card details all over the shop... whilst not really letting you play because "DX has an error in windows: it doesn't like it..." Ok, thank you... now going to go back and play this rather good game... [69] Ok... I just want to say that CCP has the best and fastest custummor support ever... The reson you dont get what you happen to lose to buggs many times is due to no hard evidence... IF CCP would give back everything everyone complained about.. that could EASILY be used to get more back then you lost... that would be the worst exploit in eve... understand that logs over 7k peops cant be that detailed so everything can be showned... and the yulai thingy was due to it was on such a big scale so i guess they loosend the strings a little.. thats how i ssee it and i cant think of any better way for CCP to handle it.... So just face the facts... **** HAPPENS "I can predict the movement of the stars but not the madness of men" Xel'Naga Forums (ingame to register):http://www.spiderweb.se/xnc |

[71] So you want everyone to log off in protest of the fact that you lost money on an undocumented update? CCP's game, not yours. They can make any changes to any thing they want, at any time. And at no point do they need to consult, or even inform you. Read your EULA, it's very enlightening. Regardless, if an undocumented update made you millions of ISK instead of losing it, you wouldn't be here complaining or trying to stage a protest. So keep crying................... |

[73] Great idea! YOU log off. 8000 other players stay online and have a good time. Heartfelt sympathy. I've also had my whole gaming strategy turned upside down by a patch or two. Adapt Diversify Roll with the punches |

[78] Hi, Im going to add my $.02 because this kind of complaining is rather annoying. In the soon to be 3 years I have been playing EVE.. I have only had one Petition submitted not resolved in the manner I would have prefered. Every ship loss due to either getting dropped by the server or a realy prolonged lag spike has been compensated. If you do happen to suffer a loss and have to file a petition, you may want to wait a bit, calm down and not flame the nice gm's who have to read them. That and providing as much information as possible, ie killmails to nail down specific times.. logs if you save them etc. As for your logging off.. be my guest, reduces lag for the rest of us. This is not a 'Fast' game, it never has been, EVE is a long term investment and if that is not realy what you are looking for you might want to find something else to spend your money on that will give you the instant gratification you seek. Cheers :) Chuckus |
