Is there an uber fast way to increase corp standing with a new corp and agent? It seems awful slow just doing missions ___________________________________________

Indeed it is awfully slow...
Best way to do this is to pick the lowest quality of the highest level... and still it'll go slow.
Train Connections to lvl.4 for some quick(er) results, but I'm affraid you'll just have to put in the time like the rest of us

1. Pick a small corp (1-5 stations). You'll move up 10x as fast. 2. Train connections.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll pick the tiniest corp I can find. ___________________________________________

One more question:
Does the agent corporation your working for have to be classified as a "technology" corp in order to get implant rewards. Or do all high level agents give these regardless of the corp type? |

also train social. Social 5 gives you 25% more standing gain per mission.
And always try to use the highest level/quality agent available to you for maximal status gain.
p.s. I'd hope that you don't gain standing ten times faster for a tiny corp, but the speed boost should be very significant in any case.

be careful when you choose micro corps though - some of them - like Eifyr and Co - don't have any level 4 agents - be a shame to spend an age working for them to find that it is a dead end.

1.Get a mining corp to work with. 2.Get a lot of minerals/ore stucked at your agent station. 3.Start doing missions - enjoy your insta-missions.
This way you complete without moving at all. And you will get lots of Important Missions on the way, so it raises your faction standing fast too.
Another helping point is: use a BS without CE's and you will receive those mineral missions. Use BS with CE's and you will receive mostly courier missions... so far as I know.
Do this if you are tired of boredom kill/courier missions and tired of waiting for level 4 agents, or bored of agent system at all. If not, get a good ship, close your brain when equipping your brand new helmet and enjoy it.

Thanks for the advice all. I just noticed that the corp I was in didn't have any lv4 agents. I'll move up fast but then hit a dead end. I'll probably still work with the corp though just so I can get a lv3 fastest. What kindof stuff are lv4 agents going to be good for anyway? Cruiser rewards? It'll probably take a uber BS to finish their missions anyway. ___________________________________________

Edited by: Trinity Prime on 08/03/2004 01:46:29 1. Train up Connections, Social and Negotiation to Lvl 4
2. Have a hanger full of base minerals, so you can instantly fullfill the mineral assignments.
3. For courier missions, use the fastest ship you can get away with. I have 3 ships for my missions. Fast Frigate (Executioner) for courier and small hauling missions, Hauling Cruiser(Omen) for the large hauling missions and a BS (Armageddon) that I use for the Kill missions and mining. A fast frigate with CE's is still faster than a hauling cruiser. Try to use Nanofiber Internals instead of overdrive units. You increase speed and do not sacrifice cargo space. Also, you need a MWD, so train up that skill.
3. Train up with your agent until your Faction rating is 4.75 or so. Once you are that high, you can start using high lvl 3 agents at all the other corps within your faction.
Bottom line, it is all about speed, so try to set up your ship(s) to be as fast as you can get away with.

My only other advice would be to get everyone in your corp to work for the same agent corporation. That allows everyone in your corp to access the higher level agents faster.
Oh and anyone got an answer to that implant question? Is there any restriction on which corporations give them out? Thx.

So the time it takes you to finish your missions plays a role of the rate you're getting important missions (ranks)?
Is it specifically in minutes/seconds or if you just get the bonus everytime? ------------------------------------------------- Lying Scumbag |

I think (/hope) that he meant you can do a lot of missions in a short time which also will make you get a lot of important mission. Obviously if you get an important mission every 15 missions, you will get more when you do 50/day than you will get if you do 10/day.

AHHH not to burst anyones bubble but.....
It seems that the Quality and lvl of the agent do not really give anymore faction standing than the other ones.
I have done missions for a low quality lvl 2 agent (base quality -7) and high quality lvl 3 agent (base quality 18) and I seems to e getting the same amount of faction increase, between 0.02 and 0.03.
So unless there is a bug with the DuVolle agents doing the lvl 2 agent missions are less demanding, shorter distance and seem to give the same faction amounts as lvl 3.
BTW I use a Megathron with all power cap relays in low slot, 2 100MN MWD's and 2 Large Cap Batteries in the med slots. This setup make long distance travel VERY fast and you never run out of cap power :)
The Apoc and Tempest also make good fast transport for courier missions fast as well.

Well, then change it ASAP, so miner corps give out kill missions, as it was meant to be ok?
If I need 15 missions to receive an IM and I do it in 5 minutes, it's considered an exploit? Sounds like it is, but it is not, because I have the ore/mineral required on stock, that's why I finish them so fast, receiving an IM as it was meant to be, every 15 missions. If I have not the ore/mineral on stock I have to go mine it, wasting much more time, as I waste when I go out to mine my lovely sotck. And the occasinal Courier-IM-plant mission forces me to do 12 jumps. When it is not the IM bring us so much needed minerals.
Obviously I am not going to waste my life doing courier missions for Storage corps, with their current lack of reward.
P.S. You may know this is an alt char only checking his standings ingame, so if you want to contact me to comment anything you should know my main. |

I thought in the past this was considered forethought on the part of a mission-runner, to anticipate her agent's demand, and meet it rapidly? Such enterprise was rewarded, neh? |

How is that considered an exploit. You either go out to mine before you talk to your agent or you talk to your agent and then go mine. You spend the same amount of time. Just this way you can talk to your agent quickly and not waste screens when after you accept the mission he asks you if you are done. Just my two cents worth on the topic.

Edited by: cashman on 09/03/2004 08:09:22 Is it possible to bribe agents to gain standing?
Because I have an alt, which I use a refiner (cuz of its skills). But since corp-standing doesn't effect the "we take", only personal standing does, I can get lower than the 5% even tho my main has "we take" at 0%

I don't see how this would be an exploit. I always have large stocks of minerals as I manufacture a lot and if my agent asks me to provide some I just give him some out of my stock. I still have to mine it or buy it in the first place so its not like I haven't put the time or effort in. I also tend to have large supplies of trade goods. I have these mainly because of the rampant overpricing found these days. If I find some goods at or close to the base NPC price I buy as many as I can. Not to 'cheat' missions but to stop situations where Im asked for something only to find someone has bought every item in a 20 system radius and added a 0 or two at the end of the price. Then if my agent asks me for some of the goods I have in stock (this mainly applies to research agents these days) then I go to my wharehouse and get some.

Well, you could just let the agents demand unrefined ore instead of minerals. |

Stop asking how this is an exploit (it should be obvious that it is), and accept that a dev has said its an exploit. This means if you continue to use this method of doing missions, they have the option of banning you account.

its not an expliot in the traditional sence.
every agent runner has minersal in stock to instant agent missions.
has anyone actualy got a mineral mission of late and had to actualy mine the stuffs ?
if you have a large stock of ore/mins and thats all your agent is asking for then what are you going to do ?
its a flaw in the code and Papa has said its being closed. sooner rather than later we hope.

Find a station who got several agents wich you can use. Then do as many missions as you can (feel like) at a time. Watch your ratings fly up, but it can be a bit stress keep track of it all ;-)

Could this please be plugged by lowering the money per mineral the agent pays you closer to the market (at the moment it's at about 2-4 times market value), and not by making mining agents hand out kill missions? Cause after all, mining agents sound like they hire you to mine... or to go out and buy stuff if you can still cut a deal on it.

Im not doing agent missions for any mineral corperation. However, I do a lot of agent missions for other courier agents. After lot of missions for an agent you get a pattern of where the agent want you to bring and fetch stuff. I have several times spent hours on run around gathered goods on the market that I have re-placed at most likely destinations for where an agent want me to bring that item(s). Sure it cost a bit to invest into this and it take a lot of time to build yourself an impression of the patterns, but once you done this you can have a lot of instant missions. I would call this tactic and not really an exploit.
The time people have to mine to gather the minerals for agent missions is the same wether they do a lot of mining to stock up a surplus of said minerals required for the missions or if they had to go out and mine for single missions. To call this an exploit and it to be plugged, would mean you have to deal with the entire courier system as well as you can be tactical about it. Time spent resupplying likely destinations is still time you do tied around the agent missions.

Look you dolts, here's how it is an exploit:
- Guy doing kill missions can't spam them. - Guy doing courier missions can't spam them. - Guy doing mining missions CAN.
Thus:
- Guy doing kill missions gets implant at rate intended by devs. - Guy doing courier missions gets implant at rate intended by devs. - Guy doing spammed mining missions gets implants at a much, much faster rate which destabilizes the balance of missions and causes all players to abandon kill missions in favor of vastly more profitable mining spam.
Thus:
The market is saturated with implants, will implants sell for 500k ISK each, no-one makes good money anymore, Eve explodes, Russia declares atomic war on America and we all die.
You don't want to bring about the end of the world, do you?

Erm as one of the folks who does missions for a mining corp (at the moment) I'd have to say that going to get minerals would be completely and utterly ludicrous during a "rare mineral" mission (aka "go get me some megacyte".) So I'm going to take my thorax down deep into 0.0 space, shuttle stuff back and forth between station/roid field (probably 7+ jumps away) and mine enough arkonor to get the 15 units of mega that my agent wants (probably 20x back and forth because I can hold 500m3 of cargo). Which will probably take me the better part of a day to acquire. Ditto for zydrine missions. I usually spend several hours mining ores and then back to station to run some "insta" missions. When you consider I spent several hours to acquire the various ores/minerals to run missions for awhile I think it probably works out time-wise. All of the "important" missions are still kill/courier missions which I never decline and typically take a significant amount of time.
Sure I can complete 20 missions in an hour if I'm lucky - but add in the hours it took me to acquire all the minerals and ores necessary to run those missions. I also mine my own mega/zyd which is typically a stressful two-day period (side note: whoever said there's no ark near DSS in stain was wrong.)
Anyway, point of this post is that there are no "insta" missions if you consider the preparation time. Also, what about all those folks who are buying science graduates and homeless from the market (or getting them via missions.) Will doing "insta" R&D missions also be plugged?
Honestly I don't think anything is wrong with the system (except maybe that I haven't gotten any t2 BP's *smirk*). Papa - if you want to take a look at someone's character who runs mining "insta" missions (which incidentally I feel is a misnomer) to get an idea of reward/time invested, feel free to take a look at mine. If these missions are changed I'll certainly be disappointed but I'll definitely move into the business of selling science graduates and homeless.
Regards, Oori
