Like like like meeeee! lol
Like bacon too! Cant eat it alot cause its super fattening but its just soooo tasty!
Somone needs an alt named "Bacon" so we can have bacon in every topic.
Tiger, F. Bacon is boring... I was forced to read him in university, and its worse than a sleeping pill. Not to mention the side effects... arrogance, lofty ideals, snobbish quotes even... much rather read some Hemingway or R. Davies, even M. Atwood... polysci is tedious.
R. Heinlein ftw! Finally found "Friday" at my local used book spot this morning... wow! The first few chapters are fantastic, cant wait till later when everyone is fed and I can get back to it!
Anyone else read this? What did you think (I think R.A.H. is a dirty old man! LOL)?

Haven't read R. Heinlein. (makes note on wishlist)
Well as for F Bacon.......he might be all that in your mind, he did emphasize how knowledge is power... ...Also, I think it is important to keep in mind in which times some of these things where written, in this case being the renaissance. For example, "Novum Organum Scientiarum", which was published in 1620.
He often formed up the anti-thesis to Aristotles thesis. This particular work was actually in reference to Aristotle's work "Organon". The Anti-thesis, "process of reduction" and "inductive reasoning" in reference to syllogism
And it is actually normal to have this cycle of thesis, antithesis and synthesis and in my opinion not bound to just one guy (Hegel).
Some say....
The scientific method has derived from Bacons work.....but I digress.
Anyways....nice to meet you!

see what I mean about side effects! LOL... JK, that was well put truthfully. I wasnt being nice about it I guess, even if I think hes boring as drying paint, its undeniable that Bacon did make some major contributions. Like any of the greats, he should be read and probably quoted from time to time. Logic is fun, if not funny looking, symbolic or otherwise. |

I think its too "hard" for what they are churning out of the schools now... whatever it is that passes as education now is not able to even be a solid foundation for kids to build on, and lets face it... Logic (symbolic or otherwise), is not easily grasped without a broad education beneath it.
I agree with you, actually. To help combat this "decline of educational standards" in my own home, we homeschool and mine are way beyond the public school crowd they socialize with (in a scholastic sense only, they are all good kids no matter where they get taught) so yes, Tiger, is disturbing indeed.
maybe make a smartphone app for it? Then the smart phone will be able to get hired, while the actual person cant do math, write in cursive, spell, know where anything on earth is, cant find the way to the store without GPS, and is unable to speak in complete sentences... |

I wonder, what use do schools have, I mean after elementary school which could also use a serious overhaul. I really think our children would have a much better foundation for understanding these things if after learning to calculate, learning to communicate, they go out and experience live.
I have found that often people with "just" street knowledge who always had to fight for every perk are often much more open to logic. Which to me says, our educational systems not only leave a lot to desire.....they are actively curbing minds to a single focal point.....being productive citizens.

You have no idea.....how disturbing I am I disturb many visions of people around me with varying feedback....hahahahhahaa.

Paul Oliver.....
I just read you are playing solo?
Because you know....
Me too currently. Started out with 21 people about 2, years ago only to have the last 3 ;eave at the beginning of this year. Not so much because of me...lol.....but they did not see EvE as a hobby like me.
However....I now have these wonderful ideas and research done over this time, the corporation is well as finished as it will get I suppose doing it all alone.
I was planning on starting to recruit over the weekend. (Composing recruitment post)
Would it be at all weird if I said.....I like your views.....would you be interested to become part of a Media/entertainment group with another corp for covert missions?
There is of course more to it, but maybe if your interested we could have a talk through a different media.
You will be able to put your signature on it, as not everything is set in stone.
