AB only removes the ad, but if there is a script attached which is more likely story, using something like NoScript would have prevented the installer and it sounds like the typical adware\spyware crapware that some companies try to install.

And the wonderful redirects, where you get herded to sites you don't want to load, looking random. Not using IE is a good start, but they have been trying to make it a little more secure in recent times.

If you know that then you should know it blocks scripts I've had 0 problems with ABP all the years I've used it.

If you know that then you should know it blocks scripts I've had 0 problems with ABP all the years I've used it. Yeah, checked lifehacker, still fine there. Still listed as an essential tool and all you need on the subject, including scripting. They list noscript as an alternative/addition, but in a subnote under ABP and not really needed. I am not saying that ABP is a evil extension that watches you play your skinflute, what I am saying is that people created a fork off ABP because of reasons.
