I fired up the P-51 again and managed not to blow up the engine \o/. I kept an eye on the manifold pressure and propeller RPM this time.

Its more difficult than a jet for sure.
I may be a bit wrong but from what I have have read this is how it works.
There is a propeller RPM lever and a "Throttle" lever which you both have to set to get the proper propeller RPM and manifold pressure you need for whatever part of flight you are in.
The propeller runs at a constant speed which is set by the propeller RPM lever and the "throttle" just adjusts the pitch on the propeller. The more "throttle" you give it the more it bites into the air which makes the engine work harder to keep the constant propeller speed.
There is also a ram air lever which controls the pressure of the air entering the carburetor as well as a carburetor heat lever which is only for high altitude.
http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x55.html thats what I have for my throttle and stick. I have almost all the knobs on the throttle programed to manage the engine easier.

Plus its still all guns!!! I just await for the MiG-15 to be released and all will be well.
i'm go to so crash and burn with this game
saitek seemed to be the best imo , adjustable springs are interesting , would take me a little while to get the hang of it , find the right tension and set up i'm liable to treat a bit rough to begin with

Yeah I have the 2nd lightest spring in mine right now but sometimes I swap it to the lightest ones for helicopters.
I just really wish force feedback sticks were still being made. It would make flying, especially helicopters so much easier. I remember my old microsoft sidewinder, that thing was great. The stick would move to the proper deflection when you adjust your trim and move when the autopilot was engaged. Why can't I wear that? || My Fanclub
