Yes - a lot of folks have soloed the L4 AE bonus room.
How? With the right skills and equipment. I think it can be done with a perma-boosted Raven - I don't have the Gist XL shield booster to try that with - I couldn't manage it with regular Raven. Personally, I have done it with a Nighthawk command ship. I would guess that it might also be doable in an appropriately fitted Drake but I haven't tried it.
Was it worth it? There were a reasonable amount of bounties from battleships and the retirement home and battle station drop some some reasonable loot. There is also apparently a chance that the battle station will drop faction loot. I've done this about room about 3 times and it hasn't dropped for me but YMMV.

The whole mission is worth it.
I completed it in a perma tanked CNR with a Gisti XL booster With the bonus room you can make 50 mill if you include bounties loot and the items from the structures in the bonus lvl. If you get some faction items that could go a lot higher.
Not bad for one and a half hours play.

I have completed the last room solo, but that was with about 6 warp outs, until I realised that the cruise turrents were killing me too fast.
Hopefully I'll have more luck in the future when i get my CNR. It took so long running through all the gates to get back to the last room each time.
No faction loot though :(

The trash only does credible dmg when they get in range, if you can AB to avoid them and take out the 4x cruise turrets you can do it with 1 warp out depending on the situation.
I only run an XL + 2xInvul's so I do a warp out bewteen trash/cruise-turrets

I use a Nighthawk for it.
Got a cynabal BPC from it once Few Domi items too. Certainly worth it.

I do it in a CNR with:
7xCN Cruise w/ T1 ammo CN XL, CN SBA, 2xDG Invul, Kinetic II, Pith A-tpe Explosive (61.75% I think) 2xPDU II, 3xCN BCU
and a partial high-grade crystal set (1-5, missing Omega). Ends up with explosive resists a little over 91% and boosts 1100 HP every 4 seconds. Honestly though its overkill and I never need to continuously run the booster. Still haven't gotten any really good faction loot out of it, but the bounties, the overseer personal effect (6.3m) and the 30k worth of torps (good for reprocessing into minerals) are worth it even without a good faction drop.

Did the whole mission in an Ishtar until the bonus room, then found I could not reduce the incoming DPS quickly enough from either tank or movement.
Frustrating too; if it was more guns than missiles it'd be much easier ...

I've soloed it in a Hyperion and a Dominix. Was it worth it? It's not worth it to solo. It is worth it to run it with a pair of ships. ------------ This is my alt. There are many like it, but this one is mine... My alt without me is useless. Without my alt, I am useless. |

Edited by: Jenah Torell on 01/12/2007 09:17:29 I tried this with a CNR fitted with a CNR booster and could not sustain the dps coming in without the need of my alt basilisk repping me from a distance.
Then I made an investment and purchased a Pith A-Type X-Large Booster and can now sustain 1400 dps with the setup perma running below. Never got my shields below 97% and tested the dps by killing the trigger spawn for total aggro.
As loot is concerned i have only got one faction drop worth about 25 mil but the torps sum up to 27 mil in minerals and overseers worth 6'ish plus dont forget the salvage parts and bounty from all rooms + bonus make this a good mission to boost your isk and recoup some isk spent on expensive mods

Edited by: Andrue on 01/12/2007 13:18:29 AE4 bonus room is one of the toughest L4s rooms there is but the right ship and the right equipment can handle it. I do it in a Nighthawk and it doesn't cause any real issues. I take it a little more seriously than most but I'm never at risk.
Is it worth it? Mostly, yes. Occasionally it is mega worth it. I got a 65mil BP of it once. Others have got faction gear worth even more. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 01/12/2007 19:53:16 I solo it all the time on my alt. I use 2 Invul, 1 exp hardner, and a permatank. Granted due to my crystal/gist fit, my alt can afk tank full aggro but even if you have a t2 setup, you can to do this.
Start off by killing Cruise Turrets and frigs. Once you kill the 1-2 frigs (which die in 1 volley with cruise if they are MWDing and you have skills) can freely warp out as required. Then slowly kill off anything that is a threat while remaining aligned at full speed. This was you can instawarp out if you are getting pounded. Just take your time and you fill find that it is not that hard, even in a t2 setup.
The Angel retirement home drops a 6mil effect, + a small, as in 5% chance of a faction item or bpc. The battlestation drops 30k bane torps and lots of other random stuff, so it is worth while killing that if oyu have time. Loot wise at least 20-30mil inc bounties/salvage minimum, usually more than that.
The Old Angel Extrav lvl4 bonus room used to be a challange. The current one is nerfed so it is much easier that what it used to be. --

Edited by: Commander Prishe on 02/12/2007 05:30:38 soloed it 3 times now with no warp outs (not even close), its just getting the resists right. This is set up for the entire mission + bonus room:
6 Mil SP
Implants +4 Atributes, 3% cruise dmg, 5% shield recharge, 3% RoF, 5% missile explosive radius, 5% Shield capacity
Navy Raven
7 X CN Cruise Launchers 1 X True Sansha Heavy NoS
1 X CN XL Shield Booster 1 X T2 Cap Recharger 1 X DG Active Invuln Field 1 X CN Active Explosive Hardener 1 X CN Active Kinetic Hardener 1 X CN Active Thermal Hardener
2 X T2 Power Diagnostics 3 X CN BCU's
Use Exp Missiles, take out the 3 Cruise Batteries first, set Drones on the Frigs. Personaly I then take out all the other turrets set the drones on the Cruisers then I take out the HACS then the BS then the named BS then the last 5 BS spawns.
DPS gets higher as the BS gets closer so you may want to kite away from the station at warp in.

Sounds worth it from these reports, what tag does it require? Diamond? Does it eat the tag?

It does not eat the tag. Its the dimond tag I think /CCP fix for Amarr is in EVE Trinity - The Trinity of training either Caldari, Gallente or Minmatar! |

I do this w/ a similar setup although I keep a DC2 on my CNR. It's saved me more then once, especially when it seemed like the system the mission was in was on the same node as a FAT during the siege 2 months back. I actually take out the BCs after the turrets. There damage/hp ratio is quite high so you cut down on incoming DPS faster by popping them first. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

Note that this room is way way easier today than it used to be. These days it's not even hard to do it in your average armortank(Amarr set aside due to their damage potential in an Angel mission). A domi for example does it with ease, something that used to be nearly impossible. This means any shield tanker especially considering their exceptional effectiveness against angels should do it with ease.
This is ofc for BS-class vessels, command ships are generally even better of due to their smaller signatures and higher speeds, I personally avoid BC's and won't comment on their performance however.

its soloable with a normal t2 fitted Raven with CMs fitted, actually its might get a bit hairy when you move into the bulk of Angel ships, but fly away from them and kill the Sentry towers and you are safe...
i somehow never get any nice Domination loot out of it. Domination Invulfield ftl...

The nice thing about a Domi Invuln is the CPU savings, IIRC. That, and its cheap enough that I wouldn't think too hard about using it on a PVP ship. ;-)
A DG Invuln, I'd be hard pressed to actually use in PVP (Don't fly what you can't afford to lose).
