I really like it! The shadows are nice, though it possibly would've been better if you could have avoided the one shadow at your right shoulder. You make that hair style work very well for you. The face is gorgeous. The pose is natural and playful.
I only think the light might be a little too bright, it's like a spotlight is shining on you. If that's intentional, nevermind.
Looking at the 1024 version of the picture, your face seems almost doll-like, too perfect.
That was me trying really hard to find bad things about your picture.

I really like yours Serena. I've checked it a few times and really can't find anything particularly wrong with her. I guess I'd change her lipstick to match her jacket and play with the lighting and background a little, but that's all down to personal taste. That's my very poor attempt at being a critic.

You have done a good job making your eyes look good as a Vherokoir, but it is still possible to see the squinth bug on the large image, but only if you look closely at it. It's a shame to change the good pose because of that.
The makeup is good, but I dont like the color of the hair. It doesn't match the rest of the style.

I know how you feel. I've been posting here a few times where right after me someone posted rating someone else or not rating at all and then I was skipped, hehe.
As for your picture: I can't decide whether you look timid or "what's that down there?"-surprised. It's a unique avatar, a good composition, lighting fits well with the background..

I really like the freckles and pose, the lighting really compliments the face and expression really well. (I'm probably a bad critic.) Considering I'm fairly new and everyone in game I see is a meh looking female Gallente/Caldari I'd have to give you 9/10.
I'm fairly new/inexperienced with it all, I think my pose may be a little off, but yeah, constructive criticism is very welcome.

Ooh, nice critique, thanks! I've been meaning to take a good look in the mirror, so to speak, now that I have a new computer but I've been having endless trouble with the Gfx card (GTX 560 Ti), second time in two weeks it's been sent back as faulty...
I agree the background could perhaps be a bit more engaging / less dull. Vherokior eyes vex me to no end, glad they don't look too awful. I do have the free resculpt unused I believe, might try and look if I can do anything about them. Altough last I checked the new skintones looked amazingly unnatural (Chalk? yellow? dark chocolate? wtf!), but let's see.
I'm kind of attached to Tein's looks by now, squinty eyes and all, so could be I won't do anything to the sculpt..
But again, thanks for the input, will keep it in mind.

Interesting approach at "less than perfect" Asian fever... but those cheeks are somehow unbelievable. The pose is quite good, and only the expression caused by the cheeks spoils it (that is, unless you're pouting without moving your lips). Tattoos are so-so, don't add nor detract. The background is just competent, doesn't adds to picture but it's nice you picked red hues for it. Will say a 7.5/10 with potential if you can resculpt those pouting cheeks.

I love the friendly and almost somewhat cheeky smile you have going on there Emination. The pose is fine and the Lady Gaga hair is rocking, but there's something that bugs me.. your mouth seems too big for your face and the wide chin makes you look less feminine. Overall I love her style though, so I'll give her a big fat 8/10.

Good lips, good overall face, except perhaps for the nose but it also acts as a contrast to prevent your char from becoming some kind of unrealistic perfect doll. That gives a lot of humanity to your picture.
I like the tatoo and I must say that if usually I'm agaist these so simple clothes, here it works pretty well.

@Jax Bederen : The problem with Altrue is that when I edit her, I'm almost stuck and can only move of a few pixels. Because you can easily destroy the picture by making odd shadows, mostly on her neck.

I've been looking forward to rating your avatar, Adalynne. In my opinion it's one of the better faces about. I love her expression more than anything; the face itself is gorgeous. I'd tone the make-up down a notch though and change the platinum blonde hair to something darker. Other than that there isn't really much I can say. You've done a fantastic job, so I'll give you a well deserved 9/10.

His appearance doesn't have anything choking, including the hair (which is in itself almost surprising, but if I try to imagine him hairless, I understand why he is not).
Basic background, anything noticeable about the clothes.. and of course you wear glasses !
Basically, glasses are the hard way, because if you hide a good part of your face with a very common object, it becomes harder for you to become interesting or original.
And that's the main 'problem' of this avatar : He is clean, good, simple... but very basic, and very common. Some might say 'boring', but if you just want to have a good avatar that's the right choice.
Finally, the expression is almost too neutral, and you fall in this trap like manies : your avatar now have in my opinion a slightly dumb expression because he is not trying to express anything.
6/10 but I hope you understand that it's not an ugly avatar :) |
