Did pt4 in megathon with 2 smartbombs and 350 rails. The outpost defenders hit hard, but smartbombs kill them fast. couple of war outs to regain cap. only shot the rats when they had me targetted.
pt5 is fun with lots of amarr BS and the salvage is good - 20 melted caps for a start

did this mission yesterday, defenders are really bugged, they hit hard, but they could not bring my mael down, had not to warp out. Luckily they didn't hit me with 45000 dmg with a single volley, this would have been my doom too of course.
defenders act really strange, they're extremely fast, all of a sudden, they return to the structure they guard only to jump back to you in the next seconds. if you zoom on the structure, you can see that they fly manuvers, normally not possible.

I'm in the same boat as you. Not only ships but some rare faction gear.
I was also lucky enough to take part in the great jump clone implant fiasco by not only losing implants in the clone I jumped out of, but also lost them in the clone I jumped into.
Petition for clones sent in last Wednesday, petition for the ships sent in last Thursday.
Needless to say, I've had better EVE days.
I'm trying to remain patient and civil though.

On the bright side, the patch mentions issues being resolved for this mission. Has anyone had any luck in the area of ship reimbursment?

None yet. This loss cost me more than my implant loss (jump clone bug). My petition shows that it is currently being worked (in action), so hopefully it won't be long now.

I just got a petiition reply saying they weren't aware there were problems with this mission and I should sumbit a bug report. Where did you see it mentioned the mission bug is being worked because my reimbursment request doesn't appear to be a consideration.

In the patch notes for the next patch.
http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/patchnotes.asp
Build 45001 to 45943 addresses Patch Notes for Trinity 1.0.1
...snip...
Missions
Activities performed by drones now count towards determining whether a mission is complete - specifically, using mining drones would prevent mining missions from completing properly. The issues with the mission Pot and Kettle - Seek and Destroy (4 of 5) have been resolved. Objectives for the mission In the Shadow of War (1 of 5) have been clarified. Security agents are no longer giving out mining missions. No more milk runs!
...snip...
I have recieved the same response, that there was nothing abnormal and if I thought there was a bug I should post a bug report (which I did). I added that the patch notes had mentioned issues with that mission, and wanted to know if those issues as I had observed them would allow for ship reimbursal (Outpost Defenders showing they are CONCORD protected while they rip your ship apart with massive DPS).

Well my petition was denied. Apparently since I was warp scrammed by the recon frigates when the outpost defenders decided to annihilate my ship, none of the bugs are considered directly causing my ship's destruction. I'm out a massive ton of ISK for what feels like a really lame reason.
Good luck to everyone else who was hoping to get a ship back

Same here...completely lame. Its kind of funny though to get a reply in a petition saying, "Yep, there was a bug, but you aren't getting reimbursed"

The bug wasn't to the amount of damage they were doing, just to the warning associated with them. Still, I agree that it sucks for anyone who lost ships to this mission. ------------

My team mate wouldn't shoot at them because of the popup, and neither would I and thats all the confusion time it took for my fate to be sealed. =( Oh well, live and learn. Had I not been so excited to try out the new content, I mighta known about the mission ahead of time and just petitioned to get a GM to complete it for me =(.

As long as the petition isn't closed (in which case I'd lodge a new one) then you can reply and maybe even put in a link to the patch note and this thread. I've lost a ship in a mission which also claimed a alt's ship as well for similar bug and been refused reimbursement even though they returned my alt's ship ! I replied ... somewhat strongly worded and a different GM reimbursed what was lost with standard reply. As they're pretty busy sometimes they may not be quite up to speed with all the changes in Eve and new bugs/issues. From past experience if you reply to a petition then often the petition is escallated to a more experienced GM or one that may have wider scope for resolution.
I'm lucky to not have been offered this mission yet (still just getting the usual regulars). All the best to those who lost ships and hope you all get them returned soon.

They continually tell me they cannot verify anything was abnormal . So here, for everyone to see, is my shameful loss. Additionally I left the mission open thinking it was a huge issue and it would be easier for the GM's to see the mission if I left it open. I tried to go back and get my stuff but none of my other ships could get to where I died and get out in time. Had I just set a bookmark and closed the mission, again, my stupid self would not have lost what dropped at least. Enjoy my n00bness and the epic l0lz...I'm back to tech 2 ravens for my Level 4s

This whole thing is really lame and I've taken the advice to leave the petition open. There is just NO logical reason to refuse reimbursement.

I just did this mission once.. before the patch.
Just killed the drone before it could kill me.
Was in a Dual repped Dominix and used Small Hobgoblins II to kill it... just ignore the warning. Concord didnt come after me.

Just completed it in a passive tanking ishtar. Wasn't too bad, they took my shields to about 40% but I was able to take the defenders out with vespa ii's quick enough to keep the DPS from getting to much.
I guess its 'fixed' now but I didn't get it pre-patch so I can't say if its any easier or not now, but I didn't get any pop-ups.

The last reason I was given for ship reimbursment denial was the popup saying I would be CONCORD'ed if I attacked was a client side UI error and can't be verified by server logs thus no reimbursment could be given. I'm glad some people got their ships back at least. I'll make the money back eventually.

Are you kidding me?
There are several people in this thread with no affiliation at all to each other, who all got the same pop-up warning.
WTF?
I agree the money can be made back, but this is BS.

I'd like to know the same thing. What if you did parts 1-3. Can you decline the other parts like you would any other mission? Would you take a standings hit?

Edited by: Thelonious M0nk on 20/12/2007 03:59:30 I just did this mission and it seemed pretty easy to me, I just shot all the red blinky stuff and it was easier than an average lvl4... I hadn't read this thread first either, otherwise I probably wouldn't have tried it. So I think it might be fixed now. I do missions for a gallente agent btw, if that makes a difference.

Well, it seems that I am not the only one to find this mission a little difficult. Fortunately, I did manage to clear the mission without having to jump out, or suffer the loss of my CNR, but I honestly was a little worried when I saw those outpost defenders move and hit.
I did the mission by aligning to a station, turning on the cruise missles, and pulsing my shield booster appropriately to deal with damage and manage cap. I had full room aggro, and every respawn seemed to like to aggro my drones. It took me a little while to realize that it was the defenders chewing into my shields, and next time I do this mission, those ships will be the first one I pop.
I used EM cruise missles and they went down really fast, I would say 2 volleys per ship (14 missles).
A little patience, and resolve should find you sucessful.
But that mission has got me a little concerned about the fifth mission in the string, and on that note, I am heading to bed and going to tackle it tomorrow.

finally got my ships back ! but lost allot of items, they couldnŠt salvage, they said. here is the respons:
Hello,
We have now returned the ship to your hangar. Some items might be missing from the ship (the ones left in the wreck), and those we are unfortunately unable to replace. Note that we have removed the insurance payout you received for the ship loss. Further details are available in your character's eve-mail inbox. Thank you for your patience.

Anymore feedback on this mission? How balanced is it in terms of difficulty with other lvl 4 missions? I have just turned it down as I am still a n00b with level 4's and from what the majority of people are saying, this seems to be much more difficult than others.

Well I can only speak for myself flying a shield tanking ishtar, but it was probably the hardest lvl4's (even more so than the AE bonus room). But it was only because of the extreamly high DPS of the oupost defenders. Once they are dead (which doesn't take very long) it's easy.
If I get it again I might try getting in an armor tanking BS and fitting a couple of large smartbombs and see how that goes.
