essentially it boils down to tactics , fittings, and skills. sure 2-5 crusiers can wack a BS no problem, IF they know what they are doing. if they lack propor tactics they will get ownd. same with the BS. if the pilot knows what they are doing, they should be able to win.
likewise with frigates. if you get a group of skilled pilots together you can take down a BS. granted if they have an L smart bomb or heavy drones you are screwd. but thats not the point. YES battleships fling huge amounts of dammage and can withstand a ton of hits ( hence the name battleship). but if a mixed fleet of crusiers/ frigates play their cards right, they can win VS bs. tactics tactics tactics. and yes, tactics play a huge role.
however i do agree. the price of crusiers make them more effective in that respect.

The looks will probably be slightly different to the normal variants, but publishing pictures of them before they are released would be contrary to the terms of use of the forums.
IF they are on Chaos, your best bet to see them would be to log on there and look at someone when they are flying one.

guys... in ur eyes... what would be the best 'battlecruiser' to set my sighs and training towads... im all Caldari and Minmatar... all ship skills at 4and5 so it doesnt matter what race i choose... just what ships do u think would be better to get. i was thinking 'Rupture' cause the 720mm scouts are pretty good and if they beef it up would be damn fine.

Caldari have historically had the best cruisers (moa, caracal, and BB are really the best at what they each do), and I'd expect this trend to continue in elite cruiser-land. Imagine how many med slots an elite version of the blackbird might have? While minmatar ships are currently skyrocketing in popularity, I expect caldari ships will be a better decision in the long run.

<Salivating over the thought>
My thoughts exactly, unless CCP has plans to change the Caldari''s Technological advanced gains. Gee, if a Battle Cruiser has like 8-10 high slots, 6-8 medium, and 4-6 low slots.... (passed out on the floor).

Try expecting a little less from the elite cruisers, giving them BS slot layouts isn't realistic. I'm only interested in the gallente ones, they suit my playstyle and I'm already in a thorax whenever possible. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Can you imagine the hitting power of an Elite Rupture 720 scouts plus the probable damage bonus, they'll be getting wreakins of 600-800. Hehe. Cant wait.
Gotta get cruiser trained up to 5 over the next few months.

Yes you were right, I was commenting on the PvP aspect of cruisers in the food chain, not in NPC hunting.

I saw the links to the updates/in development page, but I couldnt find any real info on the ships other than the classes. Will someone please give me a link to the place where they found that huge list of ship names, races, and producers? Id like to look at the new battlecruiser stats.
Battlecruisers are going to become the ship of choice for skirmishes I think. Right between cruisers and battleships in price, power, and survivability. I will be going with elite cruisers for sure. A properly configured elite blackbird will kill any BS. Or an elite anything for that matter. weeeee! Russo - CEO Amarria Auxilia Your friendly neighborhood badass

I still think regular cruisers need to be beefed up a bit.

how many times does it have to be said. Try the eve-db. It is mentioned is loads of threads and there are links to it all over the place. Do a bit of research of your own for a change. --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |

Edited by: JoCool on 22/04/2004 12:20:47 If they cost around 20 to 30 millions (I suppose that), they should be beefed up hitpoint-wise - seeing as no attribute apart from the Caracal cruiser's shield passes the 1000 mark on eve-db.
When tier 1 battleships have 5000 hp per attribute on average, I'd like to have the cruisers 1500 to 1800. Still won't make them a third as good as a tier 1 battleship because they lack in restoring their HP (tanking), but will at least allow them to survive longer. If that won't find its way into the game, the Blackbird will stay the only viable pvp cruiser.

The blackbird the only PvP cruiser? No ship will be configured to win every situation, and every ship and configuration has its place. But the blackbird is not simply the only PvP cruiser. A caracal in the right hands will end a blackbird, and so will any other cruiser. The pilot, circumstances, and configuration is what determins the outcome, not simply the ship youre flying.

im currently half way to the interceptor and that takes long enough, please have crusier4 and maybe some other skills at level5 requirements as well

Get a good perception implant and you will cut anywhere from 15-50% or so off training time. Something like that, but trust me, it will help alot. Over time it will save you over a week or more.

Ignore the stats, they are definately not correct. Pretty much worse than regular cruisers in all aspects.

Please keep in mind that in Eve, skill training only provides mastery levels in 20% increments. So, if you still train a skill up to lvl 4, your only at 80% mastery of that skill. You have to train to lvl 5 in order to be at 100% mastery of any skill. If you train up a skill then decide to swith to another skill, you are still at the last level completed even though you have skill points.

If they are doing elite cruisers, you can be pretty sure all the top end pvp'rs will be waiting for is the next Elite battleships.
Elite battleships will maul both cruisers and frigates.
I would save your skill points until you hear about those to be perfectly honest. Cruisers are very low on the food chain presently.
Is that so? Why do we have setups that can be effectively used against interceptors/frigates and battleships then? __________________________

Why do people fear they will cost 30 mill? They sure will do! A thorax was 15 mill back in the days. See how the price dropped? I am sure interceptors will drop soon as elite cruisers will as soon the components get more common and therfore cheaper.
If it's too much for you don't buy one. I am sure they wont be THAT much better than a lev 3 cruiser.

some of the data may be placeholder, but some of it looks like it could be valid. At the very least, it shows the diffrences between the tiers of the 2 ships. for example, on the support ships, there are 2 variations between the number of high-mid-low slots. hopefully this data will fill in soon.
the biggest thing is that NONE of these ships require cruiser 5. they need cruiser 4 and some other skill at lvl 5.

The thought of a elite Stabber oh yeah! A faster, more powerful, with more slots Stabber would make my day. Gotta start training that so I don't have to wait around like I do for interceptors.
