Edited by: Katanaha on 11/12/2007 15:59:30 after some testing on the testserver, i found that this rokh setup did fairly well on the small gang warfare part. here is my setup:
--Highs-- 4x Arbalest Siege ( or blasters depends on personal preference ) 4x Heavy Unstable
--Meds-- 1x Heavy electro / T2 cap booster. 1x XL Shield booster, ( t2 or best named depending on skill ) 1x Invul field 1x EM hardner 1x Thermal hardner 1x Boost amp.
--Lows-- 2x BCU II 3x PDU II
--Rigs-- 3x egress port maximizer I
Why this setup. i found myself constantly anoyed by these nano ships / super tank ships. thus i made a ship capable maintaining its own cap ( for a short period of time ) and still tank quite well. while taking out the hostile Capacitor so its helpless ( especially against ammar and gallente ships this is quite effective ) not being able to rep itself while you maintain quite cap stable due to the rigs taking away a large portion of the cap penalty using destabilizers. no points or webs thus also relying on your gang to hold the hostile's down. i was quite impressed of this setup when i was fooling around with it an bit.
any suggestions / comments will be apreciated. ( since i personnaly have no idea what to put in the lows )
p.s as you might have noticed my english isnt that good, since its not my main language. _______________________

Edited by: Birkinz on 11/12/2007 16:08:38 I was toying with something similar: HI 4 x Heavy Unstable Energy Drain 4x Torps Mid 3 x LSE II 3 X INV II Low 4 x Power Diags 1 x Shield Power Relay Rigs 3 Core Defence Shield Purger It tanks while it drains and does some damage. May have to swap a LSE for a target painter with the change or go to blasters but I havnt tested any of that yet.
Its quite nasty though, can drain a BS cap pretty quick and you still have enough cap to run the INV fields. Tanks almost as hard as a perma running XL Shield Booster II and has about 24K shields on mine.

Edited by: Birkinz on 11/12/2007 16:22:05 It would be quite nice to pair one of these with a Blasterthron methinks, possibly with ECM drones.
My concern with yours is that it is heavily reliant on cap as well. What would happen if they fought each other 1 v 1 as an example?

i have tried it once, it basicly came out as a draw. since i could not rep my shield back up but neither could he shoot or rep.
And since torps dont require cap i could keep pounding on him till my next set of boosters where ready. but you cant really expect to stay cap stable with neuts running. and a shield and im no big fan of passive tanking / buffers. _______________________

Edited by: Birkinz on 11/12/2007 16:29:31 Sry, I meant if our two Rokhs fought. Mine reps without cap and may even be able to keep 1 of the neuts on. I have a scorp that can do that so I suspect that it can but havnt tested. You could always go for 2 resistance amps and an inv field for less cap use.
Out of interest, why do you not like buffers / passives?

im personally more of an active tanking type of guy i had numerous encounters where an buffer just didnt cut it.
But in the case of the two rokh's i would say yours would probably come out as the winner since it requires allot less cap to run and denying me the option to rep up.
But the posibility of 2 rokh's of these exact setups encountering eachother are quite slim. thus making it an perfect gang / fleet ship. ( would be even better to run it as an remote rep platform ) but offcourse that is quite an different story. _______________________

Very true unlikely to meet another the same, and the lack of tackling would make it irrelivant anyway.
But thanks for reminding me about this, I dont have Tech II blasters yet but I have a "Spare Rokh" so I am going to look into this some more.

its a nice setup but i still would prefer a blaster fit rokh :)
neutrons + xl tank.. cant beat that :D ---------------------------------- Seems that there's a new game that seems to be very popular whit whiners these days. Its called EFT Online.

Well blaster Rokh looks cool for gate camps etc. How do you think it compares to the mega? especially if you fit it to tackle with a shield buffer? (i.e. try to copy a neutron mega)
Personally, I think the neut set up is more versatile (defence against tacklers) and would beat a blaster boat. But its obvious nemesis is other passive tankers. Not so many of these about in PVP though from what ive seen.

you really dont need to fit a rokh like mega... fit it whit a XL tank and u can tank hell of ALOT of dps if u have BS5 (i have a friend whit pretty maxed out rokh skills... i cant beat that thing 1vs1 whit any BS :P even a gank mega will get slaughterd)
buffer tank is good allso.. but i wouldnt really use it tbh ---------------------------------- Seems that there's a new game that seems to be very popular whit whiners these days. Its called EFT Online.

Cheers for the info, thats interesting to know. I have BS 5 and my tank is pretty decent.
I still favour the passive over the XL, but hey I dont like shield boosters on any of my ships.
Ppl tend to favour the XL set up for the extra damage mods, and I can certainly see their argument. I still think I would like a chance of surviving a bit longer though and the passive takes less micro management.

Rokh tanks very nice and yes - you can defeat Mega and Hypes... BUT before anybody cries about it you will most likely need to fit without MWD and tackle to beat those ships. - I'm a nice guy!!
But hook me up with some pew pew, because I'm really bored... |

What are ppls thoughts on the Torp vs Blaster argument on the Neut set ups. My feelings are blasters due to the Rokh range bonus as much as anything and a reluctance to fit a target painter.
It may produce cap issues though.

even though blasters might be better due to the bonus i do believe it might cause in an decrease in dps due to the excessive cap use of the neuts / blaster / xl booster.
i already find it hard to manage an booster with neuts. using torps due to the cap ( and tnx to the torp boost it can actually do quite some damage )

2 things why wouldn't you use a raven for this exact same thing with torp bonus and blasters will be better imo.

Edited by: Birkinz on 12/12/2007 10:33:43 Edited by: Birkinz on 12/12/2007 10:30:38 Raven as a pure damage dealer looks to me like it will out perform the Rokh for damage. However, it is not a great blaster or neut platform. The Beauty of the Rokh for me is its drake stlye tank.
This allows you to run 4 heavy energy Neuts without affecting your tanking ability. Or for that matter 8 Neutrons.
4 Heavy Neuts + 4 blasters or Torps are pretty nasty, as are 8 Neutrons and with a pretty beastly low cap tank to go with it.
The fly in the ointment for me is that you now need a target painter to hit with the Torps.
Its also worth noting that the Neut set up will kill a Raven that is in range as it will not be able to use its booster or any active hardeners after a pretty short time. I tested it on a Navy Raven with the old style torps and it shut it down pretty quickly. IT was the only fit that could compete for me, although I have not tried the 8 Neutron IIs.

I still agree with HarryManback, use a Raven for torps and the Rokh for railguns. Jita: No one gets out alive. |

well you see this is not about the damage. It is about the support it can do, i.e taking out hostile battleships for a period of time,
the damage is just an nice addon. while using the least ammount of cap ( torps ) thats why i use torps on the rokh cause if in any case the cap does run out im still able to run some damage against the hostile group. _______________________

Hi Katanaha, have you tried the torps without a TP? I just wondered how it worked out? I would prefer to use torps as I am already speced for them, but dont really want to sacrifice tank for a TP if I can avoid it.

Sry, Target Painter. Ive been reading that you even need one to hit BS for full strength with Torps now. Also, whats the range going to be on a Rokh with average range skills - 18KM?

well tbh i dont use tp's either way, with my sucky torp skills i can get 12 km out of the torps, so i say 18-20 might be a more realistic range
and the damage is still around 350-400 a torp _______________________

Doesn't sound too bad, but base damage on a torp is 450, so you could probably get a lot more. I will have to try it, but I think I used to get 700 per torp under the old system.

all i have to add is that torpedo's do hit targets smaller than bs's pretty well. i had a fight with an absolution on sisi and torpedo raven hit him just fine without a painter
